july 29th. >> a plan is stabbed multiple times outside a home in philadelphia overnight and police take two people into custody. >> police credit a philadelphia community for leading them to two suspects in a deadly carjacking case you. >> might want to grab something with long sleeves before you head out the door. accuweather is tracking a cool start this morning. >> and i'm okay with that. let's find out more about that with david murphy. he's got that accuweather and karen rogers is taking a look at traffic. good morning to both of you. >> i want to say we had one or two days maybe about a week ago that were like this and we got another one this morning and another one tomorrow so a couple mornings that are going to start out cool and comfortable. we'll also see plenty of sunshine over the horizon quickly as the cloud cover out to the west is really falling apart. we've got dry air in place helping that to happen. how are the numbers this morning? not bad. 66 degrees in philadelphia and allentown just in the last couple of minutes has slipped back down into the upper 50's. probably even cooler tomorrow morning. 60 degrees in reading, 62 in wilmington and 66 in sea isle

city and as we head through the day it does look like a nice one. 68 degrees by 9:00, 75 by noon. we are going to get warm this afternoon with that high of 80 but the winds are going to be very light. humidity is low. 74 by 6:00 and it really is going to feel comfortable out there. one of those days where you might want to head to the pool but with a fair amount of sunshine in play you still got to keep that sunscreen handy. not bad temperatures. karen do you heat your pool when you're only at 75 degrees at noon? it's going to be pretty nice. >> no, you just play in the park instead of the pool i think. that's the idea. all right, let's hit the roads this morning. this is lower gwynedd township. we've got an accident here. you see police with the flashing lights on the scene and here we are on 309 bethlehem pike at welsh road. southbound right here an accident. we can see they're allowing some traffic to squeeze by at this point but watch this accident with police on the scene here partially blocking at least that intersection. in montgomery township here an accident involving a truck has just cleared. it's been a busy start to the morning already.

construction on the schuylkill eastbound near spring garden. that's clear but still there's construction on i-95 northbound just past 420. it's blocking the two right lanes so watch for that as you're headed out early any and an accident brought down a pole causing a problem early this morning in newark new castle county old baltimore pike closed. stick to 40 as your alternate. matt. >> thank you karen. new this morning here, a man is recovering from a stabbing outside a home in the city's overbrook section. police say it happened during an argument and they are questioning two people. the incident happened at columbia avenue near 61st street at 2:00 a.m. the victim was stabbed multiple times. when police arrived they took away a man in handcuffs. then officers also led a woman away from the scene. so far no charges have been filed. philadelphia police are crediting neighbors for leading them to the two suspects in the carjacking crash that killed three children. germantown and allegheny avenues in tioga where a vigil is scheduled tonight. katherine. >> reporter: matt, city council president darrell clarke was outer here last night. he says the city owns part of this lot and that they're considering making a permanent memorial here for these children. meanwhile a vigil will be held this evening. it's going to be held by the family as the community remembers these children. you can see the memorial here is growing at allegheny and germantown in tioga where this happened many people have been leaving stuffed animals and candles and they've been coming from all over the city to remember siblings 10 year old thomas reed, 15-year-old keieara williams and seven year old terrence moore. their mother was critically injured and a family friend thelma brown broke her ankle. two men are in jail for carjacking a real estate agent sexually assaulting her and then losing control of the car they stole hitting the family who was selling fruit on the street corner for a church fundraiser. the two men were arraigned overnight and denied bail. the charges come after a three-day manhunt.

a reward of more than $100,000 was offered. the community has come together to remember these children and to grieve. >> them being behind bars really like eased my pain from what happened but my pain -- my heart is still broken. >> as a community, it's -- this is good how we could just come and gather like no fighting, just come in as one. >> reporter: and back here live at germantown and allegheny where a vigil will be held tonight at 6 o'clock. the case caught the attention of nba great and former philadelphia 76er charles barkley. he has offered to pay for the funerals for these three children. we're live in tioga, katherine scott, channel 6 "action news." >> katherine, thank you for those details. it is now 5:04. a driver is dead after crashing his car into the delaware river. police say he was fleeing a hit and run accident. the volkswagen he was in went airborne and into the river by the market street overpasses.

police and witnesses say the suv was speeding. good samaritans jumped into the water to try to save the trapped driver. >> they were in the water when i arrived and they -- one of them had his hand but he couldn't get him out. >> well, firefighters then dove in and pulled the man out. he later died at the hospital. the hit and run crash he was fleeing from happened at fourth and arch streets. police are now examining the suv to learn more about other possible factors in the crashes. moving on here, vandals ransacked a community center in the city's kensington section over the weekend. staffers at the light house fear the culprits are members of the community they are serving. the damage was apparent when workers arrived forehead start preschool classes yesterday morning. computers had been stolen and so were several of the classroom rabbits. staffers think the culprits broke a lock and climbed through a back window. drug paraphernalia was found in a back alley. >> it's been a really nice summer and today reminds you

try and dish in a little bit as the day goes on. generally speaking we're looking at a bright one today. up in the lehigh valley, 76 degrees, sun and clouds today, just refreshing. probably got a lot of sunshine early and then a few clouds dicky digging in as the day goes on. down the shore not a bad day. ocean temperatures have slipped with that wind coming off land down into the 60's so it will be a little cooler in the water and 70's on the beach getting up to about 78 degrees in atlantic city, maybe a little bit cooler farther south along the coastline. 80 is your high in philadelphia today, sun mixing with some occasional clouds, pleasant out there with low humidity and winds out of the west at five to 10 miles per hour. so, not much wind. as we roll through the day we're still in the 60's by 8 o'clock. by 11:00, 73. and then in the afternoon we're going to spend most of the time in the upper 70's with that high of 80 briefly striking around 3 o'clock this afternoon. then tomorrow another nice day. there will be a front that stays far enough to the west of us where we'll still get bright conditions. might be a little bit warmer with the winds turning just slightly more out of the southwest but looks like we have to wait until thursday

before we start to feel a little bit of an upswing in the humidity. that's the way things are looking. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast 80 degrees and refreshing today, absolutely gorgeous. get outside this afternoon and enjoy it, if you can. 84 tomorrow, partly sunny and still pretty nice. a bit more humid on thursday, a high of 85 but looks like we're still dry. on friday warm and more noticeably humid, 85 and late in the day or at night there could be a couple of spotty thunderstorms around. for the weekend a little bit unsettled. 82 saturday, 84 sunday. there's the chance of a spotty thunderstorm particularly in the afternoon or evening on saturday and sunday. neither day looks like a washout right now but we're watching that and you'll want to, too. maybe that storm tracker 6 app is a good idea on your smartphone. monday 86 degrees chance of a thunderstorm in play as we'll have a frontal boundary lingering around the region. not too bad the next couple days though. >> thank you david. it is 5:08. next up the search intensifies and authorities have reason to

that's wilmington, delaware. it is chilly out there, 66 degrees on city avenue. >> if you're leaving early this morning, karen, you perhaps will not want to roll the windows down. you'll want to keep them up. >> yeah, get a little sweater on. that's what i had this morning. feels good and refreshing. so how is the traffic this morning have time for are suburban traffic report. well, it's neither good nouri freshing. we've got an accident lower gwynedd township montgomery county. this is 309 bethlehem pike southbound right here and we can see at welsh road. we've got police on the scene. you can see the flashing lights right here on both sides of the highway. traffic is squeezing by. you can see these guys kind of slowly moving around this accident but it's at least partially blocking the intersection so you want to watch for this right now, 309 at welsh road. let's go to the maps and talk about another problem. an accident that brought down a pole here in newark, new castle county, it's still out here right now. they've shut down old baltimore pike at old cooches bridge road.

stick to route 40 to get around the closure. mercer county construction blocking the right lane for at least another hour here on i-195 eastbound between the new jersey turnpike and route 526. so watch for that one. as we head to your commuter traffic report which you can be a part of when you download the free waze app we've found some people talking about the construction here. they're calling it a complete stand still i-95 northbound in tinicum township. we looked live at the shot if you remember a couple minutes ago and what we saw was construction still blocking the two right lanes on i-95 in tinicum township right at 420. northbound should be in the process of clearing. it was supposed to clear at 5:00 a.m. but still out there so if you're not expecting that early morning delay and you're kind of hitting it right there. 66 degrees in philadelphia but just in the 50's in allentown, 59, 55 in mount pocono, barely in the 60's in millville, 61, 61 in trenton. so, cool start, tam. >> okay, thank you, karen. a michigan man walking his dog found a newborn baby on the side of the road. he says the dog was tugging

him towards some bushes and when he looked in, he saw the baby curled up with its umbilical cord still attached. police say they have spoken to the mother but they're not saying anything about her situation or what led her to leaving that infant in the bushes along a road. a new hampshire man charged with kidnapping a 15-year-old girl nine month ago is scheduled to be arraigned today. 34-year-old nathaniel kibby is accused of holding abigail hernandez hostage. she returned to her familiar on july 20. officials did not release any details on her disappearance or where she had been. >> the phillies seven game road trip got off to an ugly start against the mets. burnett struggled on the mound giving up four runs in the first inning. phillies trailed seven to nothing before they even put a number up on the scoreboard and actually out hit the mets but left bases loaded twice. final score seven to one. ryan howard continued his struggles by the way going zero for five at the plate. the two teams play again tonight. the eagles return to lincoln financial field for

delayed and why so many outstanding cases have yet to be heard. plus we track down families waiting for due process. >> my life was ruined. i want to say hell but it was rough. it was very rough. >> reporter: could you be caught in a red tape. we turned to the court for answers only on "action news" tonight at 11:00. >> that's one to watch. let's watch this traffic as it's at a standstill right now as we go outside live on i-95. the problem is the late running construction i've been telling you about. they're in the process of backing up and picking up these cones but you can see the resulting backup it caused. this is i-95 northbound at you head towards the airport in tinicum township, you're hit with this at route 420. it's in the process of clearing out, we can see that right now but some late running construction was supposed to clear about 20 minutes ago, just hasn't happened yet. northbound jammed at 420 because of it. in wilmington, south park drive is closed between west street and the mark street bridge. emergency inspection of the stone wall began yesterday and still closed right now. stick to north park drive or

12th, 13th, 14th streets to gets around it dave. >> on the big board this morning karen temperatures in the 60's across the region right now. allentown is actually in the upper 50's and by 9 o'clock in philadelphia we'll still probably only be in the early 60's so the entire commute is going to be very cool and refreshing. and then by noon we're up to 75. still pretty comfortable. your high today is 80 degrees and with low humidity it's really going feel nice. in fact the winds are going to be very light today as well. then we go down to 74 degrees by 6 o'clock. so, a really great day ahead and i encourage you to get out there and try and make some use of it. on the big board we don't have any major airport delays and no rain reported in any of our most frequently traveled destinations. tam. >> thank you david. going to health check doctors say slow and steady can wip the race when it comes to your heart health. research shows you don't have to run marathons or be in shape to do an olympic sprint in order to see the benefit. researchers tracked 55,000 people over 15 years. those who ran regularly cut their risk from dieing from

telling you about the weather because the weather is great. take a look satellite has some cloud cover out to the west but we are seeing a lot of holes getting punched in those clouds. a lot of sunshine over the horizon later on and we'll have sun mixing with some clouds today. over all should be pretty good. my twitter follower lynn in blackwood new jersey posts 60 degrees right now. as you take a look at temperatures we're still at 61 in millville but 66 in philadelphia, 62 in wilmington, 60 in reading. allentown at 59 degrees also down on the boardwalks on the jersey shore mid 60's this morning. mainly clear and pleasant, 64 by 6 o'clock, 66 by 8:00 a.m. in philadelphia and as we head in through the day it is going to be warm this afternoon but with low humidity it's going to feel pretty good. 68 by 9:00 but 75 by noon. real pleasant afternoon as you get started with your afternoon chores and errands or maybe just some fun. 80 degrees by 3 o'clock, sun mixing with some clouds. that is your high. and then 74 by 6 o'clock. karen, things do change over the next several days.
