burst into flames and leaving people injured. it happened in the southbound lanes near wilmington, a passenger in the back seat suffered cuts and burns, nobody was hurt in the second vehicle. philadelphia police respond to a report in the shooting in the strawberry mansion section of philadelphia, and ended up opening fire on a man. katherine scott brings us up to date on the investigation. >> reporter: the suspect is was in surgery last night and now internal affairs is investigating the case. only "action news" was there as one of the alleged gunman was taken into custody. investigators say this began before 4:00 p.m. in the 3000 block of page street in strawberry mansion. two men shot another man four times and left him lying in the street. >> about a half-hour later we

received information that the two shooters from that particular job ran into a house two blocks away. >> reporter: officers rushed to the 3200 block of paige and surrounded the home police say that's when one of the alleged gunman emerged. >> an individual came out of the back of the house with a gun in his hand, pointed the gun at police and police charged their gun and truck him in the -- struck him in in the abdominal area. >> reporter: police are trying to determine the motive of initial shooting. >> it's under investigation from internal affairs and central detectives, as of right now it's just the beginning of the investigation. >> reporter: the officer involved in the shooting has been placed on desk duty that's standard when an officer is involved in a shooting. there's no indication that he

sun and clouds, spotty thunderstorm chance is to the north that's good you watch out for later this evening. here's where the numbers go today. we'll be in the upper 60s by 8 and upper 70s by 11:00 p.m. climbing into the low 80s that's where we stay all afternoon. tomorrow, we have more clouds in play, eventually there will be spotty showers and thunderstorms, a better chance in the northern and western suburbs, are saturday morning another system arrives with rain in the morning. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, we're looking at 84 the high today. mixture of clouds and sun, a thunderstorm can't be ruled out, but few and far between today. warm and humid tomorrow, feeling stickier and another chance of scrted shower or thunderstorm -- scattered shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon or evening. saturday, that system comes up from the south and gives us rain in the morning and it could include periods where it's coming down heavy.

sleeping inside the apartment. the victim had just repeatsly moved into that apartment. developing this morning, police are searching for the driver of a dark colored vehicle in connection with the hit-and-run on the boulevard. the driver plowed into a man on f street around 12:30 a.m., the force of the impact sent the man flying on the sidewalk. the victim is in stable condition with head and chest injuries, no arrests have been made. a crash killed a pedestrian in heidelberg township in berks county. the 30-year-old tried cross 422 east when he was hit by an suv. the driver in this case did stop. police shut down the road for five hours overnight. it has reopened. no charges have been filed. >> this is new this morning, police arrest a man for a brutal assault on a woman in southwest philadelphia. are they are looking into the possibility the i -- attack days
