academy road southbound blocked between murrell avenue and the president street. you can see the damage to the vehicle and the debris all over the roadway. the vehicle hit a pole took down the pole, covering the roadway a long with a wheel from the vehicle there. they have academy road blocked between murrell avenue and president street. they have to do the accident investigation not just the cleanup here. i wouldn't you need got to stick to knights road or the boulevard to avoid that. in wilmington, delaware, chopper 6 was overhead, you can see 4935 southbound lanes reopened yesterday at 5:00 p.m. that's the moment of them coming through. it's been closed since early june. this is good news for everyone heading down the shore for the weekend. you can take 495 southbound. if you're taking 495 northbound into the city it's closed between terminal avenue and 1th street. it will be closed for two more weeks while they continue the

repairs of the bridge. stick to i-95 or 295 as the alternates. >> we begin with breaking news, two ban -- bandits who planned to rob a northeast philadelphia home one is dead. katherine scott has an update on this breaking story. >> reporter: good morning, tam, there are a number of private surveillance carpets in the area, police -- cameras in the area, police hope it will help in the investigation. k-9 unit are looking for the one suspect who got away. the other suspect is dead at the scene. police say two suspects wearing masks and gloves had been waiting for the homeowners in northeast philadelphia early this morning when the homeowners arrived around 12:45, the men forced them inside the home at

gunpoint and the burglary alarm sounded when police got there one of the men took his mask off and answered the door and said everything was fine. the officer requested i.d. the suspect went back inside and sent out the homeowner and show them identification. le she said yes, everything was okay, but was able to signal that something was wrong. the one suspect was trying to top the other homeowner from leaving the house and that's when the suspect saw the officer. >> he turned the gun toward the officer's head. the officer in a defensive mode put his left hand up and basically pulled out a gun. the suspect we believe discharges 3 times the officer, thank god the officer was not struck. back here live on the scene, police are still parked by the vehicle that may be involved in the investigation, the officer shot back multiple times who hit the suspect who was pronounced

dead, a gun was found lying next to the suspect. while all this was going on the other suspect fled out the back door, else at large, police are looking for him, as for why the men chose this house to begin with, that's under investigation. live in northeast philadelphia, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> lawmakers in harrisburg have dealt a setback to philadelphia schools. she cancel a vote on a cigarette tax increase that would help bridge a gap in school funding. 1,000 district employees could face layoffs saturday. it would have added $2 on each pack of cigarettes sold in the city giving the district $45 million in the first fiscal year, but republicans say there's no concensus on the bill leaving city officials outraged. >> we should not be in this position in the filler if i -- e

first place. now the funding could be in jeopardy. >> we have news coming in from overseas, the cease-fire is coming apart and both sides are blaming each other. a heavy change of fire left four dead and dozens wounded. this happened two hours into the cease-fire. what was supposed to be a 72 hour truce was brokered by john kerry and the united nations. egypt is said to host indirect talks in cairo. more than 1,000 palestinians and nearly 60 israelis have been killed since the fighting broke out on the 8th of july. the selloff on wall street might be the first shoe to drop in a wider selloff. new jobs data is due to be released and maribel aber is following this at the nasdaq at time square. >> economists are forecasting a gain of 230,000 jobs. yesterday stock also tumbled on worries -- stocks tumbled on worries over argentina and futures point to a lower open. nearly 50% of single parents said their children's education was their primary motivation for developing a long term financial plan. finally the chef behind the cronut is at it again. this time he has come up with an

boulevard instead. learning details about this accident involving a fuel tanker that ran into a drainage ditch it's out here causing a problem on clump road they shut it down between wrights root and allentown road. in london grove we have an accident route 1 oxford bypass northbound, that's the exit for avendale. good news in wilmington, delaware, we have southbound lanes of 495 reopened. they reopened them earlier they have been shut down since june. they reopened it yesterday at 5:00 p.m. earlier than expected. for everyone heading to the shore, the beaches in delaware, use 495 southbound. northbound is shut down, it will be shut down for about another two weeks, you want to stick to

the action cam on the scene. you can see the wreckage of the vehicle, you can see the police tape roping off academy road southbound. academy road southbound is blocked at this point. we have a number of emergency workers on the scene. several police officers, there you see the traffic northbound. northbound is open. as you look southbound they have to clean up the debris and downed pole, debris on the roadway, a wheel on the roadway. they have begun the accident investigation, as well. that could take a couple of hours, academy road southbound is blocked, stick to knight road or the boulevard instead of academy road southbound. we want to go back to the maps and check out chester county, this involving a motor cycle, happening right now in chester county on the pennsylvania turnpike westbound approaching route 29 an accident involving a motorcycle, we've got emergency workers out there, they are blocking the right lane, you want to expect the delays west

to shoot back. a there's a police vehicle parked next to the vehicle that could be connected to the investigation. police say two suspects wearing masks and gloves have been waiting for homeowners early this morning. when the homeowners arrived home at 12:45, the men forced them inside the home at gunpoint the burglary alarm sounded. one of the men answer the the door and told police everything was fine. but that officer from the 15th district requested identification. the suspect sent out the homeowner and told her to show i.d. to the police, she said everything was okay, but signaled that something was wrong. the officer went inside, at that point the suspect was trying to stop the homeowner from leaving the home, he pointed the gun at the police officer's head and fired three shots and missed. >> the officer himself fired in

his gun multiple times and struck the suspect who was hit inside the foyer area and dropped to the ground. >> reporter: and back here live where police are keeping an eye on on a vehicle that could be connected to the investigation it's parked around the corner of the home. while all this was going on the other suspect fled out the back door. a k-9 unit was called in and searched the area for the suspect, but so far he remains at large. there are private surveillance cameras in the area that police are hoping will help in the investigation. as for the officer involved in the shooting he was not injured, but placed on desk duty which is protocol not indicating that he did anything wrong. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> police in the city of chester are investigating two separate shootings. shots rang out on west third

street at 1:30 a.m. police arrived found a man lying on the street dead. 18 to 20 shell casings littering the streets. witnesses saw three people running away. several hours earlier a man was shot in the neck and he is until critical condition. no arrests or motives in either case. a cease-fire in gaza has been broken after hours. heavy shelling has been reported and 27 people killed and 100 wounded. hamas and israel are blaming each other for unleashing the mortar fire that broke that truce. four cease-fires have been announced since the conflict began and each have been broken within a few hours. u.s. health officials are warning americans not to go to three west african nations hit by the ebola outbreak. more than 100 people have been

sickened and 700 people have died. a medevac jet left georgia apparently to head to africa to bring dr. ken brandtly back to the u.s. the nurse who is kick with the ebowl -- ebola and being brought back to the u.s. has improved slightly but still is not out of the woods. >> crews is accused of stabbing to death a woman on the 800 block of tulip street. detectives say witnesses pointed to crews as the killer. -- cruz as the killer. the cash-strapped philadelphia school district have experienced another set back. lawmakers have cancel a vote on the cigarette tax without the
