>> good morning, it is 6:00 a.m. saturday, august 2, here some of the stories we're following for you on "action news," deadly fire a home in delaware is destroyed by a blaze overnight. one of the american aid workers suffering from the ebola virus is due to arrive in the u.s. in hours. we're tracking rain falling across the tri state region all morning, chris sowers joins us with a look at the accuweather forecast. if we were trying to pretend like the winning streak didn't end last weekend. >> reporter: yeah, what was it, last week broke the ten week winning streak, we're on a two week losing streak. i think you need three for a

losing streak. we have downpours across south jersey, but most of the lighter precipitation is west of the delaware river. we'll go over to storm tracker 6 live double scan there it is, as we set it in motion, the back edge of this is pushing through western portions of the state of delaware, so we don't have too much longer to go, but where you're seeing the across and organs -- oranges, we have reds popping up here and there, if you're traveling north on 295 or the new jersey turnpike, you get into central new jersey there's a lot of rain falling in parts of the area. no reported delays in allentown and atlantic city and philadelphia. most of the airports around new york city are okay and baltimore an washington, d.c. are on time, as well. we're not seeing any weather-related delays, but that could change in the next half-hour or 45 minutes if those drenching downpours pull to the

northeast. future tracker 6 has all the rain out of here at 9:00 a.m., with a hit or miss shower during the afternoon. this will not be a washout. high temperatures in the upper 70s. le only problem tomorrow is rainy, as well. we'll have another batch of moisture move in during the day. >> thanks chris. a fast-moving fire has claimed the life of a woman in delaware. you can see the flames consuming the roof of the home at 3:30, an elderly man was able to escape from the home, an elderly woman was he rescued and pronounced on the scene. the cause is under investigation. a 3-year-old girl is dead hit by a stray bullet while sitting on her porch in grays ferry. three other people were injured. this happened on the 1500 block

of eding street. police say two men got into an argument, one pulled out a gun and fired three shots. one man was hit in the head. two bystanders suffered graze wounds and the little girl was hit in the chest. police took a person into custody, but no charges have been filed. a triple shooting last night left three men in critical condition. around 11:00 p.m., someone opened fire in the # hundred block of mcdonald street. no arrests and no word on a possible motive. in wilmington, another shooting that left a man in critical condition. it happened in the park in the 300 block of concord avenue. police tell "action news" that a gunman opened fire on a man in his 20s striking him several times, no arrests and no motives in this one either. a woman is hospitalized in critical condition, after she fell three stories overnight, it

happened on the 300 block of east broadway landing in salem, new jersey at 2:45. were called after a woman fell from a 3 story window, she was rushed to memorial hospital in salem county in critical condition. in north philadelphia, neighbors say someone dumped a foul smelling substance right in the middle of their community. dann cuellar went looking for who was responsible for the mess. >> i was in such a shock, i didn't reach for any of my devices i was frozen. >> reporter: over the years, donna has seen people dump tires and trash, she was left breathless when she saw men dumping a foul smelling material across the from her home. >> reporter: once they emptied the truck, they washed the drum down as they were washing the drum down, streams of black soot

started coming through the field and on to stillman street. moments later, the video shows kids walking up to the spillage curious, they play in the vacant lot had seen the men dumping the stuff there. >> we was like why you dumping it in our yard. >> they have a lot of nerve, they ride their bikes and kids run through the field. >> reporter: they were pipe cleaning from the suburb of sharon hill. >> we were directed to do it. >> by whom? >> the business owner said the material came from storm drainage units. le the philadelphia water department said he had been hired as part of a environmental friendly infrastructure project, as for dumping in the vacant lot, they said it was nothing

they would ever authorized totally unacceptable, adding we do not condone it and we'll get to the bottom of it. >> reporter: council president darrell clark was outraged after seeing the dumping going on. >> they are dumping on the lot, they give you this story they probably got authorization, that doesn't seem to be the case. >> reporter: out of the concern for the safety of residents, the city is removing the material and checking to see if it contains hazardous or toxic material. >> if there's toxin in that debris there could criminal implications. >> reporter: i'm dann cuellar channel 6 "action news." >> now, to the deadly conflict in the middle east. israel struck several sites in gaza overnight trying to find an officer captured by hamas.

second lieutenant was grabbed in a hamas ambush an hour after the cease-fire began. hamas said it's unaware of capture. the fearest battles are taking place at the site where he disappeared. 1600 palestinians and 60 israelis have been killed since fighting began in july. meantime, congress has approved a 225 million-dollar package to restock the missile defense system. the money will help israel replenish its supplies for the iron dome system that has been responsible for shooting down missiles. the bill goes to president obama for his signature. the first of two american aid workers infected with the ebola virus is expected to arrive in atlanta this afternoon. officials say they will be treated in one of the most tightly sealed isolation units at emory university hospital.

the second worker is expected to arrive in two days, they were working in a hospital in liberia treating patients with ebola when they contracted. this will be the first time anyone infected with the disease will be brought into america. we'll have more on the workers being treated and the safety concerns. "good morning america" is next following this broadcast at 8:00 a.m. president obama said the cia crossed a line in the treatment of al qaeda detainees immediately after the 9/11 attack also. >> we tortured some folks. it's a felony under u.s. law to torture detainee.

he said the cia cruised poor judgment in a time of extreme stress. >> forget the hotel key, how your matter phone will replace a traditional key at hotels. storms caused trees to topple in the tar heel state. >> reporter: we're not seeing any weather like that, but we're seeing drenching downpours and showers pushing through parts of the area, some areas could see an additional inch of rain by tomorrow afternoon.

>> heavy rain and strong winds took their tolls on trees in charlotte, north carolina.winds two fell on two different homes within a couple of hours of each other yesterday. one tree split in half and one on top of the home. nobody was hurt when the trees fell to the ground. the families in the homes are staying elsewhere while their homes are being repaired. >> goodness, gracious, look at that damage. we're seeing rain in our area. >> reporter: most of it is confined to south jersey and central and southern delaware. most of us should stay dry, so it's not a washout by any stretch of the imagination. let's go live on sky 6. you're looking at the camden river front. we're seeing downpours, muggy conditions, it's feeling like summer as opposed to to the

comfortable weather we had earlier this week. tuesday's high was in the upper 70s. temperature-wise, not too bad, the dinners is in the humidity. we're sitting at 66, 68 degrees, the humidity has come up so much at this point it's uncomfortable out there. here's the satellite and radar composite. what you're seeing is a frontal system along eastern seaboard. the frontal system a along that front, the back edge is 60 miles from the atlantic city expressway this is rapidly pushing off toward the north and toward the east and, again, should be out of here very shortly. here's a close-up zoom looking at absecon and atlantic city, lbi, experiencing heavy rain. if you're driving over the garden state parkway, it will be a slow go over the next

half-hour. everything is moving quickly. it should not create problems for too much more than an hour. we have a bermuda high pressure system which nine out of ten times brings us fabulous weather, hot weather, but sunshine. that high is sitting there. the problem it never allowed this front which came through during the week to swing out to sea and get on out of here, so the high is pushing the front back toward the coast. the frontal system acts as the focal point for showers and storms. what will eventually happen when we get into sunday, morning rain gets out of here and clouds break for sun before the day is through. that frontal system will be over top us, but in the process of fizzling out. we'll see clouds and sunshine and chance of pop-up shower or thunderstorm. neither today or tomorrow look like a wash, but you have to keep an eye to the sky if you have outdoor plans.

throughout the afternoon. that 79 will occur around 6:00 p.m., with higher humidity levels. it will feel uncomfortable from time to time. 79 today, 81 tomorrow, 86 degrees monday, muggy out there. tuesday, warm and soupy, highs in the upper 70s. we'll go 89. with the humidity it will feel like the low 90s. same thing for wednesday, there's a chance of pop-up shower or thunderstorm. thursday, the humidity lowers a little bit as the cold front sweeps through. sunshine, 86. friday, looks nice, sunny and pleasant, high of 85 degrees as the phillies return to citizen bank park. musikfest will be fine in the lehigh valley. and billy joel concert will be fine, as well. everybody i talked to is going to billy joel concert. >> i'm like i'm going to be asleep. >> reporter: i know. >> thanks, chris.

everyone, 62:38 saturday morning, you're looking at satellite 6 along with action radar.g, you're looking at unfortunately we have a frontal system that is stalled out over the delaware valley this morning. it is sitting like this. it is technically drifting to the west, but it's not moving very much. now we've had an area of low pressure develop along this front that will ride off to the north and the east. unfortunately the front is sitting over top of us, had it been 50 to 100 miles in the ocean, all this heavy weather will be out there, as well. that's the back edge pushing through salisbury and southern porks of delaware. we don't have too much longer to go with this. the heaviest moisture will occur in the next hour or so. and the skies might brighten up later this afternoon. if you're heading to the musikfest the all american rejects take to the stage at 7:00 p.m., be on the look out for a spotty shower, it will be

leaving one person injured. medics were rushing to 14th and catherine when it slammed into a honda civic. as for the shooting, itself, a 0-year-old man was killed, no word on a suspect or motive. investigators in new jersey are investigating a triple shooting that happened in the unit block of walnut street in salem city. there's no word on how badly the victims were hurt or weather any arrests have been made. upper darby police scoured india rock park last night after a man confessed to the murder. the man is already behind bars for alleging killing two others and now he said he murdered two more and buried them at the park. >> we are searching allegedly for two dismembered bodies. >> reporter: the 30-year-old homicide suspect john gontz is

in jail for remain and murder and other charges. he contacted upper darby police to confess to another murder. >> during the course of the interview he said he killed two people inside his apartment in february of 2012, he dismembered their bodies inside the apartment in the batting -- bathtub, put them in tote bags, drove their car to this location and went into the wooded area and buried them. >> reporter: gontz is awaiting trial for two teenager brothers he killed in overbrook. today's confession came from gontz after he approached authorities on his own in prison. >> the guy is in prifnl. he has a -- prison, he has a long criminal record and this is his information he has nothing to gain by it, we'll take i am

governor's race will be between tom corbett and tom would feel. two candidates vying to get on the ballot couldn't get enough signatures to make the cut off. both argue the election requirements unfairly discriminate against third party candidates. the house has passed a bill to address the crisis at the border. the 6 million-dollar measure would allow uncompanied youth to be send back home without a hearing. president obama said the house knows the bill won't pass in the senate, which has already gone home. >> i'm going to have to act alone, because we don't have enough resources, we've been very clear, we've run out of money. >> members of the house

a little bit, but we're expecting showers to pop up from time to time. we're in the mid 60s and dewpoints are in the mid 60s, so it's more humid than a couple of days. as we look at storm tracker 6 live double scan we're looking at this glob of moisture sitting over top of the garden state. we're seeing drenching downpours across ocean and monmouth counties, as well as south eastern portions of burlington county. there's the back edge pushing through salem and cumberland counties. we'll zoom into atlantic county, there is atlantic city right there. heavy downpours in lbi. surf city, traveling along route 9 there's heavy rain. it eases up a little bit the farther west you go, if you're working toward egg harbor or mays landing along the atlantic city expressway, looks like conditions are starting to quiet

down now, as the heaviest is pulling away. we'll set it in motion, south to north, rushing an by 20 to 25 miles per hour. the next stop takes us farther to the south. cape may to sea isle city seeing the occasional downpour, lots of clouds out there, are reduced visibility leaves and muggy conditions thanks to this stalled out frontal system sitting over the eastern seaboard. this bermuda high started all this mess for us. the high never allowed this front which came through earlier this week to clear the area. it kind of hung out right there. the high worked its way back to the west which in turn pushed the front to the west. we're looking at an unsettled day today and unsettled tomorrow and things will clear as we get into the new workweek. as we look at the water vapor image, you can see the high working its influence on that all this moisture is running up and down the east coast from

south carolina to new england. as we get into sunday this will fizzle out, we don't expect much in the way of downpours out there. but we'll have showers, and the heaviest rain curse this morning. we'll have showers and peeks of sunshine. overnight tonight, cloudy skies and patchy fog, drizzle is possible. sunday morning, cloudy conditions with perhaps a few peeks of sunshine. by afternoon whatever sunshine we see, we call it destructive sun because the upper levels of the atmosphere are so cool, whatever heat the sun provides will translate into afternoon showers and thunderstorms. we'll have to be on the look out for that. both today and tomorrow be prepared for rapidly changing conditions. le if you have outdoor activities plans, bring it inside until the rain pulls through. poconos, 69 degrees, afternoon thunderstorms sunday, both days
