you the view. we're looking at cape may. you're one of the areas that got pounded today and yesterday with heavy downpours. we have rain from one to two inches in that partly of the viewing area. storm tracker 6 live double scan is showing most of the heavy activity has pushed out to sea. this was a heavy rain event. just like yesterday morning we didn't see lightning, maybe you heard a rump of thunder, this wasn't heavy soaking thunderstorms. these were downpours with a small area of low pressure that developed along a stalled out frontal boundary that pushed along the heart of the delaware valley again. looking at the doppler estimates, east of the delaware river most folks woke up to heavy rain. west of there you saw mainly cloudy skies. some of the rainfall totals were impressive. mays landing, 1 1/2, kept

county, an inch of rain. we get into western portions of cape may county, also seeing anywhere from a half to an inch of rain, with some of the drenching downpours that pass on through. now the radars are starting to clear and the rest of the way doesn't look that bad. it will be warm and sticky, 76 degrees by lunchtime, 3:00 p.m. another disturbance closes in from the west, that may fire up showers and thunderstorms once again for our western suburbs and some of those could produce drenching downpours. i'll have the details in the seven-day forecast in just a bit. >> the search is on for two men that led police on a chase after trying to break into a fruit truck. it starredded on 200 block -- started on the 200 block of widener street. police saw a man trying to break into a smoothy truck, when police tried question him, he jumped into a car and took off.

the officer grabbed the door of the car and the officer was dragged half a block. the police took up the place and found the car, but no suspect. police are looking for the man who robbed a wawa shortly after 3:00 a.m. on state road. police say the man walked into the store and showed the knife to the clerk and demanded money. the clerk handed over an unknown amount of cash and the robber took off. douglass woods was areigned overnight and denied bail for the shooting. police search for the second suspect and the march was held for the victims of the violence. >> remember! >> reporter: outrage took to the street as amnesty international shouted the name of the little

girl who is the newest face of gun violence. and family and friends marched where the shots rang out and killed her. her mother remember her little girl. >> she was beautiful and full of life, a gift from god. >> reporter: investigators say friday night two men got into a fight one pulled out a gun intended for a 24-year-old striking him in the head, three others were hit including tynirah borum. she was struck in the chest while getting her hair braided on the front porch. >> i heard gunshots and ran down the street and i was asking where my baby at, nobody say nothing. somebody came up and said she got hit. 28-year-old was hit in the arm and the 21-year-old was shot in the leg. homicide detectives arrested and charged douglass woods with

murder and three counts of attempted murder among other charges. amnesty international happens to be holding their activist camp in philadelphia. organizers say they felt compelled to make the nation aware of the little girl's death. >> we're trying to lift these stories you mean so we remember the folks that they had names and families and futures. >> reporter: police are urging anyone with information to come forward. >> reporting from police headquarters, annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." >> the search continues for two bodies in a delaware county park. up he shall upper darby police plan to talk to an accused who said he buried two bodies there. police officers have been digging at indian rock in springfield at the spot where john gantz said he buried a prostitute and her pimp. mike chitwood said there are not cold cases or missing personses

boat helped people get to safety. nobody was hurt. >> bill clinton spoke to a one time opponent during a memorial for him. during his presidency, richard mellon was a sharp critic, but they became friends after that. he said you are differences should not keep us at arms length from each other. hillary clinton blames her husband's infidelity by an abusive child. the nature of the abuse is not clear, but clinton says there was conflict between her husband's mother and grandmother, the interview is from a 1999 interview and it will be published in a book set for release this month. >> the deadline forbids on the revel casino hotel are fast

burning in the north central part of the state. >> let's check our weather, rain for us this morning. >> reporter: it's damp out there, although the heaviest is pulling away. let's go live on sky 6. that's the view from philadelphia international airport, earlier this morning we saw quite a bit of heavier showers and drenching downpours pull through, now we're doing all right, mainly cloudy skies, storm tracker 6 live double scan there's what's left of that heavy band of moisture that pushed through this morning, we had flood advisories for cumberland, cape may and kept county where they saw one to two inches. wet weather. what we're watching is this system approaching from the west, this is an upper level low, up to this point it's been mainly south jersey and delaware that have seen the heaviest rains. with the upper level low it will be the far western suburbs and the lehigh valley that will be later this afternoon into the evening. temperatures are warm, and it is

sticky. 71 in philadelphia. millville, 68. on the boardwalk in atlantic city, 69. reading, 71, the poconos, 65 degrees, what's happening we have what i like to call an atmospheric road block we have systems back up thanks to this bermuda high. it's a cold front that swept through, it wasn't allowed to work out to sea, so this got backed up, now the upper level low that wants to pull east that's backed up, until we get the high out of here, we'll have the features in the mid and upper level of the atmosphere that will continue to brings us the chance for showers and thunderstorms. actually on the water vapor imagery you can see all three systems. there's the high, there's the stalled front, that's the curly cue, the upper level low. that's why the front is lighting up the way it is, that's why

we're seeing numerous showersance thunderstorms and small areas of low pressure developing on the front and riding north up the eastern seaboard. mostly cloudy skies, a few peeks of sunshine from time to time, at upper level low approaches we'll see the showers and thunderstorms blossom. the western and suburbs that will see this. the timing of this is after 4:00 p.m. it will run through the first part of the evening. everybody west of philadelphia is fair game from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. it's not going to be a wash the entire time. if you have outdoor plans if the weather turns threatening head indoors. we'll see showers and thunderstorms develop across south jersey, otherwise a combination of sun and clouds, warm and sticky out there once again. speaking of sticky, poconos big rails day, 65 degrees, 72 degrees by 1:00 p.m.

>> reporter: welcome back everyone, 9:23 sunday morning, you're looking at satellite and radar, earlier i showed you that busy graphic. i'll illustrate it a little differently, i'll use the big board for this. the stalled out frontal boundary that's aiding in the heavy downpours over the last couple of mornings that's sitting off the coast. we've had a a couple of areas of low pressure develop along the front. each one of them have moved south to east up and down the eastern seaboard. that's why it's so gloomy today. they have upper level low is out near pittsburgh, this wants to move east. it will close in during the afternoon and early evening hours. you notice how much dry space we have in between. we'll await the arrival of this upper level low.

center city against gun violence. a philadelphia man has been arrested and charged with assaulting his own infant son. 20-year-old brian armstrong was arrested at his germantown home yesterday. he brought his son to einstein friday with severe injuries. the baby was transported to saint christopher's hospital in critical condition. armstrong was charge with aggravated assault. one of the american aid workers infected with the ebola virus. he is in the u.s. doctors are taking extra precautions to avoid contamination. >> reporter: this morning, dr. kent brandtly is waking up in atlanta. the first american ebb patient patient -- ebola virus patient on the soil. transmitted to emory university hospital where family and

two american's lives. >> it's important is the supportive care that we realize is necessary for survival. >> reporter: branltly's wife was able to see him through a window and talk over the phone. ebola is not transmitted through the air, so they are not concerned about it spreading in the u.s. marcie gonzales, atlanta. breaking news in the middle east, a united nation schools was hit by an israeli air airstrike. ten people were killed and one u.n. staffer may be among them. the attack happened while people were waiting in line for food supplies. it comes as israeli officials suggested they maybe calling back their 27 day offensive.

the clouds thin out and skies brightening to the west. this was expected as we await the upper level low that will close in later this afternoon. temperature wise we're sitting at 71 degrees, warm and sticky out there. 71 in reading. lancaster, 69. trenton, 66. beach haven 69 degrees. on the boardwalk in atlantic city, 70 and dover, 70 degrees, wind speeds are light in an easterly direction, 6 had trenton. 9 in philadelphia, ten is the number for wilmington, wildwood and wilmington. skies are brightening up a little bit across the western suburbs, but we await that upper level low that's sitting back in western pennsylvania. it is east of pittsburgh, clouds will increase and lower and thicken. that will give way to showers and thunderstorms later this afternoon. you can see snflt clearing

taking -- some of the clearing taking place right now. that will push east in the next 12 hours or so. combination of sun and clouds later this afternoon, actually it will be more clouds than sun, but you'll see peeks out there. every nowfer and then -- now and then you'll see occasional showers develop. more widespread activity will flare up across the western suburbs. you can see the reds and oranges showing up, you can see shades of maroon that would indicate drenching downpours. through the evening hours in the western suburbs and the lehigh valley you'll see that activity. we'll lose the heating from the sun, we'll go mainly cloudy with areas of patchy fog, we get into tomorrow morning, mostly cloudy skies, warm and sticky, low lying fog once again, tomorrow afternoon all this mess is finally pulling away, still close enough to trigger a late afternoon shower or thunderstorm across portions of south jersey,

most everyone else will see mainly a combination of sun and clouds. rainfall totals this is what we're expecting. this has already fallen. everything you see philadelphia west all that has fallen, this is done. these are going to be from the afternoon thunderstorms that develop after 4:00, 5:00 p.m. today. as you can see some of the downpours look pretty impressive on this particular forecast model. putting out one to two inches of rain. expect drenching downpours and gusts of winds 30 to 35 miles per hour. the poconos, thunderstorms are possible by 1:00 p.m. that's when the race starts. you could see weather, but it wouldn't be until the tail end of the race. jersey shore, showers and patchy drizzle. might see sunshine, as well, a mix bag down there. 77 degrees, warm and sticky. for everybody else, clouds and sunshine, be on the look out for the late afternoon thunderstorm.

>> when it comes to paying for college fewer americans are taking out loans, according to sally mae which specializes in educational financing, a growing number of americans are paying for college out of their own pocket. 42% of college costs were covered by parents students or savings. families borrowed 27% of college costs last year, this year it's down to 22%. many are cutting costs in areas like student housing and textbooks. at the big board we begin with one mom taking issue with

sea associated with a low pressure area that developed along a stationary front. on the left-hand side that is the upper level low that will close in later this afternoon and bring the threat of showers and thunderstorms. in between the two, we'll see mainly cloudy skies and peeks of sun. from this point on it's dry. you can clearly see it there, some of the clouds are starting to erode and wisp away. that will be the trend this afternoon. we'll say mostly cloudy skies, a little bit of sunshine expected a late-day shower or thunderstorm is possible after 4:00, 5:00, from west to east across the viewing area. 4 to 5:00 it would be the western suburbs that see it, and 6:00, 7:00 it pushes to the east and so on an so for forth it gos out to sea.

>> the search is on for two men who led police on a chase dragging an officer after trying to break into a fruit smoothy truck it started in the city's olney section. police spotted the man trying to break into the truck. when officers tried question him, the man jumped into a car and took off. an officer grabbed the door of the car and was dragged for a half block. the suspect then ran into a police car and took off. the car was later found with no one inside, the officer who was dragged had has a few scrapes, t is okay. police in philadelphia are looking for the knife-wielding man who robbed a wawa that happened shortly after 3:00 a.m. on state street. he walked into the store and demanded money. the clerk handed over the cash and the robber took off. a suspect remains behind bars for the shooting of four people including a 3-year-old

>> a trailer with a flat tire is blamed for sparking a wildfire in washington state. the fire has burned 400 acres of land and destroyed several homes. 200 residents have been ordered to evacuate. this is one of several fires burning in the north central partly of the state. heavy rains caused intense flooding in new mexico. it was impossible to drive. drivers abandoned their vehicles and emergency crews shut down several roads. they hope to have the roads reopen by the rush hour.
