the big story on "action news" tonight, breaking news from new york city. mount sinai hospital is currently testing a patient for the ebola virus. officials say the man was recently in west africa. he came into the hospital's emergency room yesterday with high fever and gastrointestinal problems. those are symptoms consistent with the ebola virus. he says kept in strict isolation. as whether other patients are in the e.r. last night are at risk, a spokesman said all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of all patient visitors and staff. "world news with diane sawyer" will have developments on this story next after "action news" on channel 6. this was a day of heart break in north philadelphia where funeral services were held for three young children. three caskets were placed at the front of the 7th day advent church of keiearra williams, 9

year old thomas reed and 7 year old terrence moore. they were the children killed when a carjacked s.u.v. barrelled into them as they manned a fruit stand in tioga. john rawlins live outside of the church tonight. john? >> we're told the church can hold about 1,000 people. it was packed. it was a day of pain, of grief and path. family and loved ones gathered, as did elected officials. . here said they were strangers but felt it was important to come feeling the random killings could happen to anyone. >> i am the mother of three kids and this city is really getting bad with all of the violence. >> three caskets, three siblings. 7-year-old terrence moore, his 9-year-old brother, thomas reed, and big sister, 15 year old keiearra williams. the three cut down by an out of

control s.u.v. driven by a carjacker. not among the grieving is the dead children's mother, keisha williams hit by the same vehicle remains hospitalized. a very loving and involved mother says one of the teachers. >> extremely involved in school. walking her children to school every day to make sure they were safe and nothing was going on and she came back to school and picked them up. >> july 25th williams and her three set up a fruit stand at germantown and allegeny. >> to raise money nor a playground they are having. and that's god's work. that's what the kids were doing. they were not engaged in stealing or anything, productive young members of society. >> many today trying to come grips with why three children died. and a statement from the family read in part, we know that god is sovereign and makes no mistakes. with child-like faith we are trusting in the lord. we pray for comfort and the

tomorrow. prosecutors wanted all six held in jail while awaiting trial. all six of the accused ex-narcotics officers were in court. five cases dealt with in emotional hearings before a packed courtroom. became denied to michael spicer and the alleged ringleader, thomas liciardello. ex-officers linwood norman, brian reynolds and perry betts were offered bail. and posting often their homes and those of their recommend activities. a bail hearing for john speiser set for tomorrow. because of the alleged robberies of drug dealers and the threat of of cash and property and brutality, five of the six could look at life behind bars if convicted on major charges. they all from high-powered lawyers. >> no longer a police officer, will be on 24-hour home confinement.

was the built up of propane blast. two killed, two others in the hospital in stable condition. federal mediators told septa and two of the unions to keep talking. they are working to reach a settlement over a salary dispute. the mediation board held a meeting in washington, d.c. this afternoon. a resolution has not been reached yet, but both sides think they can reach a settlement with negotiations. the dispute on pay for train engineers. an emergency board appointed by president obama recommended last month that they get wage increases similar to other unions. it led to a one-day strike this past june. a two-day music contest in seaside heights delivered on its promise of good music. the police say it also delivered on dozens of drug overdoses.

late in the day on wednesday. ahead of the front winds out of the southwest, a little stronger than today. 89 degrees. it is definitely a warm day with a lot of sunshine. what the front will do, is bring showers on wednesday. kicking bertha out to sea. wednesday afternoon grab the umbrella. scattered, not that strong. and behind the system high pressure builds in quickly bringing us a string of nice days with low humidity and sunshine and comfortable temperatures. this is the latest on hurricane bertha. and sustained winds 75 miles per hour. it is a minimal hurricane. you can see it is very disorganized. no threat to land. more than 500 miles west-southwest of bermuda and moving north. that is staying out to sea but kicking up the surf at the jersey shore. the delaware beaches. a moderate risk of rip currents
