authorized air strikes in iraq against the terrorist jihad group isis, and air drops of humanitarian aid for its victims. speaking from the white house late tonight, obama said that american combat troops will not return to iraq but america will help prevent a genocide and will protect u.s. citizens in the iraqi city. isis is advancing closest to the the city, where there is an american consulate and where there are, american advisors to the iraqi military. cargo planes have been dropping humanitarian supplies to 10,000 christian, minorities, who are trapped in the mountains of northern iraq. they fled from their homes in the face of an isis ultimatum of convert to islam, flee their homes or face death. >> when we have unique capabilities to help avert a massacre, then i believe the united states of america cannot turn a blind eye. we can act, carefully, responsibly to prevent a

valley. >> we traveled to state college to meet the man who with the start now of his first training camp holds the penn state football fortuneness his hands. still operating under ncaa sanctions not to mention the cloud from the jerry sandusky scandal, franklin's job is much more than just figuring out how to stop ohio state's running attack. penn state's athletic revenues, football attendance and alumni athletic contributions are all down from four years ago. franklin has to reenergize the bow people it that is penn state's sports, but he has to do it the penn state way. is there anything more important then winning? >> yeah, that is a very small part of it. i know a lot of coaches say that. i believe that. making sure that these guys are prepared for life. winning to me is a biproduct of all of those other things. i know a lot of coaches say. that i truly believe that.

that is why i got in the business. >> reporter: hoist james franklin? penn state is his 12th job since 1995, such is the life of a young coach climbing the ladder. he was a four year starter at quarterback at east stroudsburg university and before that a player at neshaminy high school. while he has a master's degree in psychology he acknowledges having been consume by sports and being an immature student in high school and he has no problem with his current players knowing that. >> i was probably very similar to them and that is why i approached things like them. i don't think i'm so far removed that i cannot relate. >> reporter: in 2013, four of franklin's recruits at vanderbilt were charged with raping an unconscious female student and case is still making its way through the courts. d.a. down there says there is no evidence that franklin tried to cover it up but james franklin says he is still haunted. >> i'm still searching, i'm still searching for answers, i'm stig trying to figure this

out. i think bit every day. there is in the a day that goes by that i don't think about it, what we could have have done differently. >> reporter: what might have you done differently. >> aim's not sure. >> reporter: franklin has two young daughters and they along with their mom just arrived in state college for good last friday. while franklin has about 100 sons, now he has his real family with him. >> if i were to talk to your daughters, 15 years from now and ask them what kind of father they have had what do you hope that they would say? >> i hope they say a guy that was never a afraid to show how much he cared, never afraid to tell him how much he cared, i tell my daughters i love them every single day, i kiss them and hug them like crazy. because, i have a lot of guilt associated with their is a lot of time i'm not there. i just hope they see how much i care and that i'll always be there for them in matter what and i want them to be strong,
