in the case. at this hour the victim is in the hospital. he did suffer serious head injuries. central detectives back in rittenhouse square scouring the area for surveillance video at the intersection of 18th and walnut. where before 3:00 a.m., a 39-year-old texas man visiting philadelphia was punched and knocked to the ground unconscious after he defended a group of woman getting harassed in a passing car. the victim is in stable condition at hahnemann hospital. >> as a woman i would appreciate someone stepping in at nighttime if someone is harassing, you don't know what to expect. >> it's awful. someone would be afraid to offer help in the future. >> reporter: saturday local visitors recollected to the what

william martin targeted the tree lane terrace and in one case he forced his way inside and assaulted the homeowner. investigators linked martin to the crimes after they caught him using a credit card taken from one of the victims. a person was injured after a car slammed into a pizza store. the vehicle crashed into the little caesar after 2:00 p.m. one person was taken to the hospital in stable condition. it is unclear if the victim was inside or a customer inside the pizza shop. still no word tonight why the driver lost control. meantime a similar scene at the jersey shore today where an suv plowed into a building in cape may. you see it right there. the red vehicle went through the front window of the animal outreach adoption center on the 600 block of park boulevard. firefighters recused the driver

the world health organization declared an international health emergency yesterday. people in hawaii are cleaning up the mess left in the wake of iselle. the storm hit the southwestern section of the big island of hawaii. trees and power lines were toppled in residential neighborhoods. someplaces have been without power for more than a day. the good news hurricane julio will not make landfall in hawaii. out west, the brutal wildfire season has been intensifying. one fire in northeastern washington state has forced officials to evacuate 40 homes up there. in idaho three firefighters were injured battling a fire along the snake river that is threatening hundreds of homes. oregon, # thousand acres have been to find including private land and homes. >> i lost everything, it feels unreal. it feels like it's not
