beach haven 78. here's satellite and radar we have a dominating ridge of high pressure across much of the mid atlantic region. the winds out of the north and northwest they will switch and turn out of the south and southeasterly direction as we get into the rest of the afternoon. the call from accuweather today, it's mostly sunny a touch on the humid side we'll max out in the upper 80s with the high coming in at 86 degrees, we'll look at the headlines as we see what's ahead. sunday, we're tracking changes as we get into early this week. heavy rain on the way tuesday night and a big cool down for the month of august on the way, we'll share those with you in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> we're following new developments this noon in last week's murder of a woman in pennypack park. police sources tell "action news" that the hulls -- husband of 46-year-old connie murray has been charged with the crime.

katherine scott is live at police headquarters with the latest details. >> reporter: that's right, eva, police source said 48-year-old husband of the victim has been charged in his wife's death. police sources say that murray strangled wife and confessed to do doing it after an argument turned physical. after days of questioning homicide detective's have answer. a source told "action news" the mother of two connie murray of northeast philadelphia, died at the hand of her husband, christopher murray. her body was found early tuesday morning in pennypack park. an autopsy revealed she had been strangled. investigators looked for evidence and conducted interviews. part his story didn't add up. the source said murray told police the couple had gotten into a fight monday and connie had gone out for a walk. he followed her and they sat on a bench to talk.

the argument turned physical and that's when the source said he blacked out and strangled her. a press conference is being held here in a half-hour. "action news" will have the press conference for you live at 6abc.com. we'll continue to follow the latest developments on the death of connie murray throughout the day at 6abc.com, there you can read more about the victim and details in the investigation. an argument in feltonville overnight ends with four people shot three of them innocent victims. philadelphia police are searching for the shooter. police say two neighbors got into a fight on the 4800 block of tampa street after 11:30 last night. one called a friend for help shortly after a car pulled up and began firing. a neighbor was hit in the leg and took off running. the gunman followed on whitiker avenue and continued to fire his gun as two separate vehicles

passed by. three people in these cars were hit. up with driver was shot in the head and in critical condition. inside his car was his wife and two children, both girls ages 6 months and 6 years, they were in the back seat, thank god they were not hit. >> now the other two hit by stray bullets were passengers in one of the other cars. they are in stable condition. police have taken two persons of interest into custody. they are looking at surveillance video in the area in hopes of identifying the gunman. we're learning more this noon about the u.s. military airstrikes on islamic militants in iraq. there were four airstrikes yesterday three within a half-hour and one later in the day, the target? islamic militants who have been surrounding a mountain refusing to allow tens tens of thousandsf religious refugees to escape. an international coalition is buildings to try to get food and

lancaster. the lower 80s in wilmington. here's satellite and radar, quiet really from new england down across the mid atlantic region, high pressure keeping the clouds and the moisture well away from the region for the rest of the day and for that matter into tonight. the only thing you'll notice the high pressure scoots to the east, later today the winds turn south i -- soughterly and the -- southerly and the winds up the humidity a little bit, but nothing terrible. monday we have nice weather, tuesday we have a trough of low pressure pushing east ward and showers from the poconos to the lancaster for the early half of the day. as we transition into the afternoon hours on tuesday, over into wednesday we have rain some of which could follow us as we get into the middle of that

and is now live at police headquarters. katherine? >> reporter: eva, police say 48-year-old christopher murray has been charged in the death of his wife. connie murray was found in pennypack park last tuesday morning and police say that he confessed to strangling her, a press conference is underway inside police headquarters. >> the unfortunately we only have one side of the story. there was domestic discord between the two, i'm not going to comment. it was at that manual strangulation. >> inaudible. >> the detectives that process the the crime scene said there was something that didn't add up her being dragged and put in the area. people assumed she was running in the park, she was on the outlet skirts of the park

texas was beat unconscious. he was reportedly defending a group woman who were being harassed. there were frightening moments overnight on a jet blue passenger plane. this will you'll see here is video of the plane when an engine caught fire when it was about to leave san juan puerto rico to new york. the pilot noticed the problem and aborted takeoff. all 146 people evacuated safely one described the scene. >> there was a huge bang and boom sound, i was in the front row, i looked out of the front side of the plane i saw the smoke coming out of the engine. people in the cabin, they smelled the smoke inside the cabin. some say they saw flames in the cabin. i didn't see any flames, that's when people got up on their seats and began to scream and lose control. my hat is off to the jet blue flight crew they kept everybody
