police shooting of a teenager escalating into violence in ferguson, missouri outside of same time louis. people smashed car windows and carried away armed loads of loot the goods from stores overnight. police in rite gear were called -- riot gear were called out. an unarm teen was shot and killed. witnesses say he had his hands in the air when the police officer shot him killing him. but the police say there was a fight for his gun. >> none of those individuals at the time as the officers was in his police car allegedly put the police officer back into the car where he physically assaulted the police officer. >> the officer is pulling him inside the car, he was trying to

pull away. >> the officer who shot brown was on paid discipline trairve he had leave while the shooting is under investigation. you can get the latest online at 6abc.com. also developing this morning, police in south jersey are searching for the driver who struck and killed a peddle and kept on going, this is new video from the scene, 1,000 block of landis avenue, cumberland county. witnesses are giving different descriptions of the striking vehicle. police plan to check surveillance video from local businesses in the area later this morning. we'll have a live report from the scene later on "action news." also developing a fast-moving fire damaged a house and forced three people out overnight. the action cam was on north 24th street minutes after the fire broke out after 2:30 this morning.

fire and smoke damaged neighboring houses. it is unclear if anyone was injured. fire investigators are working figure out what sparked the fire. tragedy on the track has nascar fans confused and in mourning. kevin ward is dead after being hit on the track. there are a lot of questions, the most important one being did this happen on purpose. abc's taman bradley has more. >> reporter: as the racing community mourns the loss of kevin ward junior, the future of nascar's biggest star tony stewart is in question. he did not rails in the sprint cup, he decided to pull out. during the race, kevin ward's car spins out and hits the wall. according to witnesses ward gets out of the car and appears to go looking for stewart on the track. >> tony and kevin were racing very, very hard, they got close they made contact and kevin's

car crashed into the outside wall, kevin got out of his car visibly frustrated with tone at the incident. >> reporter: as tony's car passes it hits wards. authorities are looking at the incident on saturday, but they have not ruled out charges. >> there is no evidence in hand or no facts that would support a criminal charge. >> reporter: tony stewart has a history of controversy on the track. in 2011 he was arrested, and he fought joey lagano. it's not uncommon for a driver to confront an opponent. >> people die in racing all the time, you hardly hear about it in small tracks, being that

the cell phone video went viral. 51-year-old was punched in the head while she was lying down. >> he beat me i was a man, the strength that he would use on a man, like they used on rodney king, i think he was trying to kill me and beat me to death with all his strength all he had for no reason, i did nothing to him. she is suing the california highway patrol and that particular officer. she claims her civil rights were violated. he said she was in danger by walking along the interstate and he was trying to restrain her. the officer is on desk duty during this investigation. >> on the next hour of "action news," the analyst crash on the boulevard overnight that left half a dozen people injured. many at the illinois state fair

>> this is no fun it was an intense hot and long sunday afternoon for 24 people who got stuck at the top of a rollercoaster ride. it took five hours after the ride malfunctioned at 6 flags in maryland. firefighters passed out umbrellas to help people shield
