his bad luck, cost him his life. it is wednesday night, and the big story on "action news" tonight is untimely death of 77 year-old doctor robert white, killed in the freak accident, in a supermarket parking lot. "action news" reporter walter perez is live outside the scene of the accident. walter, you've got the full story. >> reporter: that is right, jim. you can see hole left behind the shop rite here in the 1100 block of west chester pike. it has since been boarded up. it is where a young woman pinned the gas of her pick up in reverse running over and killing a beloved local politician and dentist, who served this township for decades. the people who work with 77 year-old doctor robert white say that the news came just a short time after an informal meeting with other township officials. >> he said he was going over to shop rite to do his shopping like he usually does and then went backup to my office and i got the call. i was just in shock. >> reporter: it all happened a bit before 12:30 this

afternoon, doctor white was just leaving the supermarket when a woman described only as income her early 20's for some reason hit the gas in this pickup truck going in reverse. >> vehicle ran doctor white, sending him flying through the the store's front window. he was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. west goshen township manager casey leland says this community has lost something special. >> he was just reelected to the fourth term here, so it is just a devastating loss for this township. he was intricately involved with our operations, budgeting, personnel it will be annex dream loss for this township. >> reporter: in fact doctor white worked as a public servant in 1980 when he was elected to the planning commission. he was semi retired from his dental practice which he shared from his son with you his dedication to publish office never tapered off. doctor white's neighbors described him as a kind of guy whose hand shake was better than a written contract. >> whenever we had a question about the community and things that might be happening around

us, we would always go to bob. >> he has just been a wonderful person, he has kept us up to dayton everything. just i can't speak highly enough of him. absolutely fantastic person. >> reporter: back out live, no word tonight what, if any charges are being filed against the person responsible. meantime doctor white leaves behind his wife and two adult children. reporting live from west goshen township walter perez for channel six a "action news". we have developing news from ferguson, missouri where tensions are heating up again. over the deadly police shooting of an unarmed teenager. police have fired tear gas to try and break up a protest, late tonight, two reporters were arrested covering the the demonstration. ferguson is a suburb of st. louis and has been seen of protests since sat the day when 18 year-old michael brown was killed during a confrontation with the police

officer. police say brown was shot at after he became violent but witnesses say there was no fight, they say brown even had his hand raised and surrendered when he was shot. the the police chief has scheduled to meet tomorrow with brown's family, the the city is asking demonstrators to protest, only during the the daylight hours. tonight, two men are behind bars charged in the attempted burglary of the home of a murdered woman. connie murray's body was found last week in penny pack park in northeast philadelphia. her husband has confessed to strangling her. today, two men were seen trying to pry open the back of murray's vacant house on tolbert street. one of them, three two-year old steven anderson, is murray's nephew. he is on probation for another burglary, last movement. it was billed as a peace concert, a venue for an anti violence message but tonight it became scene of gunfire. chopper 6hd was over dell

music center in fairmount park where a 20 year-old man was shot in the stomach. he is in critical condition at temple university hospital. police are searching for a white chevrolet impala that fled the scene at 8:30. a philadelphia neighborhood that has already suffered so much came together once again tonight to share its grief. friends and relatives of keisha williams, gathered at intersection of germantown anal gain any tioga tonight. that is same intersection where williams and her three children were struck by a carjacker. williams died last thursday. she was critically injured in the crash which left her children dead. sources tell "action news" that she was never told of her children's fate. meanwhile one of the men charged in her death asked for forgiveness in court today. nineteen year-old jonathan rosa told a judge that he waved his right to a hearing and the quadruple murder case. his lawyer says he will cooperate fully and seek a

plea, 23 year-old cornelius crawford whom police say was behind the wheel of the suv is due in court october 21st. a neighborhood in northeast philadelphia saw the worst and the the best of human nature today. all in a span of about 12 hours. this morning residents of akron street woke up to find many of their car tires, slashed. one woman was hit especially hard. all four of dottie roy's tires were damaged and that meant she wouldn't be able to make her daily visit to her son who lives in the long term care facility. but that all changed with one phone call from a stranger who saw this story on the news. >> they bought me four new tires. they are going to come and toe my car and take to it a place and get four new tires. i found an angel. >> inspired by the act of kindness, pep boys picked up half of the costs. the person who did all of the damage is still on the loose.
