jerusalem. they have confirmed the body of aaron sofer from lakewood, ocean county, was found dead in the woods where he vanished. nora muchanic has more on that now. >> it's a devastating blow to his family and the community here in lakewood, new jersey. thousands of volunteers were looking for him and they found his body but it's not yet clear how he died. >> we tend to believe this was accidental. and not in any way related to foul play. >> lakewood committee man made the announcement that the body of aaron sofer was found in a shallow ditch along the roadside in the jerusalem forest. his glasses were 100 feet away. >> his family has to go through grief but at least they know it was not where he was taken away

and hurt terribly. >> after he disappeared on friday after hiking with a friend, there was concerns he could have been kidnapped by palestinians. he was described as studious and not an outdoorsman. >> the family, called and asked if it was a good idea to go out and take a walk in the woods, he was probably not the most experienced hiker. >> because the body was decomposed and the exact cause of death is hard to determine, orthodox jews are opposed to autopsies, he will be buried in israel, the community in lakewood had a large prayer vigil. >> we'll have an audio hookup, the funeral will be quick, per jewish tradition.

and it's late there now, and before the morning you'll have a burial there. >> now, with the seven hour time difference, sofer's funeral should take place in the night. he was one of 10 children and governor christie offered condolences as did congressman chris smith, who was involved in this. police found key evidence in the stabbing of three men thrown in the schuylkill river in fairmount park, inside of a southwest philadelphia home, police found heavy bucketed similar to those used to weigh down the men, two of whom died. david henry is live now at police headquarters with more. >> monica, police are gathering quite a bit of evidence and they know who they are looking for. he is the ring leader of a drug gang that is literally quite cut

throat, drug gang with connections all over the country so at this point he could be anywhere. >> they have means and a lot of money and they have a lot of different locations they have lived at through the years, right now we don't know where they are at or where they are headed. >> last night and today the police searched the suspect's home near elm wood. crime scene investigators left with two buckets of roofing cement identical to the bucketed tied to the two men tossed in the schuylkill before dawn. >> the two men are brothers given $100,000 by the suspects to buy drugs instead they lost it all at the casino in chester. they were held in the garage in the rear of the suspect's property where they were stabbed repeatedly and tortured. a friend showed up to buy their freedom with $40,000 was also

stabbed and tortured. the brothers were brought to the schuylkill and anchored with two buckets of cement tied to their feet. the friend was not anchored and managed to swim to shore. they have video surveillance and some of it may have come from the suspect's own cameras, posted at locations around the property. investigators retrieved water bottles from the garage that may provide dna evidence, and police are looking for the ring leader and several other men, they all know each other and the victims and are part of a ruthless drug gang. >> these are dangerous people we are dealing with. >> the neighbor saw the suspect leave the house in a green van shortly after a newscast revealed that one of the victims had survived. they say that his wife and five children left the house a couple of hours later. david ry, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you david.

>> right now authorities are at a north philadelphia home removing piles and piles of trash, this hoarding investigation is happening in the 2600 block of north 12th street, neighbors are complaining about the home and stench for years, the department of license and inspection are using masks to cover the smell and using this backhoe to remove the trash, the owner of the home is taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation. >> one of chaka fattah's key aids plead guilty. he admitted he concealed information about misused campaign money. >> vernon odom is live now with more on the investigation into the congressman. >> good evening, congress fattah's name does not appear in the court documents, concerning greg nailer but he say key part

of fattah's inner circle another chaka fattah has been able to comment on a guilty plea for corruption charges by one of his long time aides and political strategists, it's gregory nailer, a master engineer and get out and vote operations, nailer admits to conspiring with a boss identified as elected official a to pay off a mountain of debts including a never reported $1 million donation the government says was channelled through non-profits and security firms, he helped to deliver $22,000 in campaign donations to his own consulting firm, money the court said he used to pay off the debts of the elected official's son. in the '07 campaign for mayor, the investigation of nailer

began, he admitted to lying to officials about a campaign loan. nailer faces up to 13 years in prison. sources say he will cooperate and testify about the misuse of funds. >> fattah is now battling a 23-count indictment accusing him of defrauding banks and the irs and the school district. he says that overzealous prosecutors are conspiring to bring his father down. >> congressman fattah's lawyer declined to comment on the ongoing seven year investigation into the congressman's finances, a probe that has continued for seven years. >> live at the courthouse, in center city, vernon odom, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. pennsylvania state police say that half of the school buss in our area failed inspections
