good afternoon, sara bloomquist is off and in the news, new security on the first day of class, the reason for the first day of measures at one local school, plus a teacher in trouble for her rant on twitter. but the big story is the kickoff to labor day weekend and it has begun for lucky folks at the jersey shore. people are packing the beach for the unofficial end of summer. the coverage begins with david murphy covering a steamy holiday weekend forecast, right david? >> it's increasingly humid for the weekend, sunday and monday take the cake and the combination of heat and humidity rick. we look at satellite and radar, heading into the weekend, lots of sunshine out there, just a couple of high clouds working their way out of the great lakes.

you survey these numbers and it's a comfortable day building and pretty much a repeat. as we go through afternoon a high of 81, several degrees below average, 63 is the low tonight, that is several degrees below average and the humidity should behave itself. 75 in the water off atlantic city and on the beach a little cooler than the last couple of days, but not too bad. lots of sun and again the humidity is on the low side, the problem comes over the weekend and the problem is that the air just gets stickier and stickier. every time we show you a dew point, we tell that you anything over 60 feels humid, saturday is moderate, with the 63 degree dew point but sunday, monday and tuesday indicates the arrival of a tropical air mass that makes things feel soupy and there could be a tropical thunderstorm or two, then could produce drenching downpours.

tsunami is about to hit with 1600 plus casino workers about to lose their job. the trump plaza and the revel and the showboat. this in a town where unemployment is already 13%. visitors at the showboat says that the mood inside is grim. >> you go inside and talk to the workers and you look at them and want to do more for them. >> where are these people going to go, jobs are scarce as it is. putting 6,000 people out of work. >> the concern here rick is that this will have a ripple affect on the economy at the shore. in edition the housing market takes a hit when unemployed workers consider selling their houses and moving away and in

street this morning, the victim was hit by three different cars and only two of the drivers contacted authorities. katherine scott has more now from the scene. >> two of the vehicles that struck the victim are accounted for, police are still looking for one more. there was no car parts from that striking vehicle left at the scene and police are looking for the public's help with this one. the striking vehicle will have front end damage. >> geraldine was taking out her trash in logan at 5:00 a.m. and heard it, she saw a woman flying through the air. >> i saw a lady go up in the air and down and hit the ground, police closed the road by broad street to investigate the hit and run and a woman in her 40s was hit she was hit by the first car and thrown about 30 feet and

then two more vehicles hit her. edward jackson was driving by. >> she looked like a mannequin flying up in the air, she went up about 30 feet and then she came down and the other car came over and kept on going. >> the second car stopped and the third driver drove to the police station, after hearing it on the news, she told police she did not realize what she hit. the other car was similar to a dodge dart and would have significant front ends damage. >> it was dark and the pedestrian was not able to be seen. it was a difficult situation for the drivers, and they may not have known and they urge that person to come to the police and help the investigation. >> police put the word out to local body shops. in logan katherine scott,

channel 6 "action news." the schuylkill expressway opened at 6:30 this morning, nearly six hours after they closed the highway. police are investigating what caused this tractor trailer to overturn, blocking the exit lanes to the roosevelt boulevard, the truck was carrying a load of eggs when it crashed. crews spent hours cleaning up the mess. >> new information this noon about the death of a new jersey student that disappeared during a hike in israel. today forensic investigators said they do not expect foul play in the death of aaron sofer, of lakewood, new jersey. his body was found yesterday in the jerusalem forest. they are ruling out a militant or criminal attack. hurricane sandy is one reason that ocean county is named the most dangerous county in the united states. they say that the county is most
