kahne west place there. >> and if you are trying to get in or out of the city of philadelphia this is the one place you want to avoid, this area near the parkwayway. heavy, heavy traffic through here because of a lot of closures as the crews scramble to get ready for the biggest holiday party in the nation. with the parkway closed, traffic controls its way along streets like 22nd street here. the side streets jammed with no fewer than a dozen closures, all to make way for this massive construction projects. crews stringing miles of cable and putting the finishing touches on lights and speakers around four massive stages. the gates hope at noon and they are expecting 80,000 people over the weekend for a meltingpot of music music

of the boardwalk without power. the two-alarmer broke out at a commercial building at park boulevard and west oak avenue. and the fire crews got calls from people stuck in powerless elevators. no reports of injuries and power restored now to most of the affected area. people still looking for one of three vehicles that hit a woman in the logan section of philadelphia this morning. initially only one of the striking vehicles stopped along the 4600 block of broad street. the first one kept going. a second stopped a short distance from the scene. the 50-year-old victim did not survive. radnor police arrested a man for allegedly taking pictures of a woman's skirt. brian bailey charged within vacation of privacy and harass the. they say he used his iphone to record up a woman's skirt.

and he was already on probation for taking similar videos of women. and they are looking for potential victims and asking them to come forward. the uniforms pressed and students ready to learn at delaware valley charter school. today the first day of classes of the new school year. there are a few changes in security. last year a guest brought a gun to school that accidentally went off and injured two students. and this year's tightened security procedures are putting parents at ease. >> it is a little scary when your children have to go through security like that when they are supposed to be getting an education. >> good, because they don't let anything like that happen over here again. >> the director of security likened the entrance process to that of an airport where book bags are scanned and students walk through metal detectors. and graduation daily for the charter school, celebrating a

and her son who claim they were assaulted and arrested after not leaving a mcdonald's quickly enough. the growing threat from the terror group isis to a new alert. raising it to severe, calling it a direct result of iraq and syria, but no reason to believe an attack is imminent. the british say they support area talks against isis in iraq but not calling for attacks in syria. and tony stewart spoke out the first time since his car struck and killed a fellow deliver earlier this month. sake the death of kevin ward, jr. will "affect my life forever" and the three-time nascar champion has not raced since the august 9th incident but announced today that he will return to racing this sunday in atlanta. stewart said he could not answer questions about the incident and left after making a brief statement to reporters today.

and it is time for the holiday "action news" traffic report. >> not just friday, a holiday weekend. and matt pellman in the traffic center with the well, bad news? >> we love afternoons like this for some reason, it is a friday noon and the holiday weekend. the traffic on these afternoons usually leaves a little to be desired and do that this afternoon. brian and shirleen, one of knows areas being the northeast extension northbound. a bad spot because so many are headed to the poconos for the holiday weekend. and a car fire a couple miles north of the lehigh valley interchange. all lanes reopened, one was blocked for awhile. the fire off to the side but miles of heavy traffic coming north of quakertown through the scene north of the lehigh valley interchange. the ride to the poconos is not going to be that quick, the same with the ride in and around the city because of the close yourself with made in america that david was telling us about.

instead of the parkway i am saiding you to the highways, but they are a little busy. the schuylkill expressway by the vine street expressway westbound to the vine a 40-minute ride, about three times what it ideally should be. the eastbound side not fairing quite as badly. if you are hearding down the shore, so many of you are, you will hit a jam at the walt whitman bridge. a little worse than normal, 42 southbound by 295 a broken down truck is taking out the center lane. when you get past that not as bad. the 42 at creek road, it is picking up the pace headed towards the a.c. expressway. if you are already down the shore in a.c. watch out for a cash with a pedestrian at south carolina avenue. and the ipad and the computer report this friday afternoon, watching the shore traffic very carefully this afternoon. one of our friends and out on winslow says watch out, a big old pothole to avoid there. you don't want a flat tire, not a good way to start the holiday

all right, arguably the most important thing of this day is the accuweather forecast. >> i know, and it is looking kind of good out there. let's go to meteorologist adam joseph at the big board. >> a lot of pressure on my shoulders this weekend. a beautiful summer with low humidity, decent amount of sunshine. that's going to change over the upcoming weekend, but right now only in the upper 70s areawide. in fact we are now in the lower 70s at the shore. in the last hour dropped 2 degrees in beach haven. it has taken time but it kicked in, seaside heights coming in also at 74 degrees. if you are having company come over this weekend and you have got to mow the lawn this evening, not a bad thing. it is actually a pleasant evening for that with low humidity. 78 at 5:00 and by 7:00, our temperature dropping to 76. satellite and radar, we have one small little ribbon of clouds

that is now puncturing through most of our viewing area. and then that high cloud cover not thick enough to stop any of the sun's solar radiation from reaching the ground. the skies bright and that's the factor going through the evening and eventually the overnight hours stars take control. and home afternoon heat index 73 in philadelphia, 78 in millville. not bad factors in the air temperature and the humidity. notice the difference come sunday afternoon. it will feel like 96 in philadelphia, 95 in wilmington. 93 in allentown. better at the shore, the place to beat the extreme heat and humidity and along with the increase in humidity by 5:00 sunday afternoon, we will be watching for some thunderstorms moving in from the north and west. most of the day sunday is dry, hot and humid. but late in the day some of us could get a little wet.

workweek. if you have the day off a great start to the holiday weekend. gorgeous on our friday with low humidity and comfortable temperatures. numbers across the delaware and lehigh valley in the 70s. philadelphia 79. up in the poconos 71. along the coast from beach haven numbers in the lower 70s. trenton 75. and 75 degrees westward into lancaster. the heat, however, is coming. just to our south and west check out these numbers. across the ohio valley and into the southeast you had 90s from nashville up to st. louis, and all the way down to little rock, arkansas. a piece of that energy will be working its way eastward as we get into the second half of our weekend. and what you're also going to notice is it an increase in the humidity. tomorrow not so much, but it will be noticeable in comparison to a gorgeous finish to our workweek today. it will really spike, the humidity that is getting into sunday and monday with oppressive humidity and dewpoints in the lower 70s. until that enjoy
