>> a nice finish to the workweek. if you have the day off a great start to the holiday weekend. gorgeous on our friday with low humidity and comfortable temperatures. numbers across the delaware and lehigh valley in the 70s. philadelphia 79. up in the poconos 71. along the coast from beach haven numbers in the lower 70s. trenton 75. and 75 degrees westward into lancaster. the heat, however, is coming. just to our south and west check out these numbers. across the ohio valley and into the southeast you had 90s from nashville up to st. louis, and all the way down to little rock, arkansas. a piece of that energy will be working its way eastward as we get into the second half of our weekend. and what you're also going to notice is it an increase in the humidity. tomorrow not so much, but it will be noticeable in comparison to a gorgeous finish to our workweek today. it will really spike, the humidity that is getting into sunday and monday with oppressive humidity and dewpoints in the lower 70s. until that enjoy the rest of

and looking at the set-up chopper hd over the area and several detours in place. and matt pellman will talk about the road closures in traffic, but it will be very cool. and the new 6abc.com for the made in america festival. log on to find the performers and the set times for both day's line-ups. and also road closures are listed as well. other news, police in radnor, delaware county arrested and charged a man with secretly filming up a woman's skirt with his phone at a supermarket. and they used video and facial recognition software to identify the suspect, 52-year-old brian bailey. and he was positively identified by the victim saying bailey followed her around the giant supermarket in st. davis. and she told the police he was using his phone to take video up her skirt. and bailey was on probation two years ago for doing something similar in montgomery county.

police identified the man found dead in lower providence township wednesday. 45 year old police officer mark wells. died from a self-inflicted bullet wound. and he was a 25 veteran who was on duty at the time of his death, leaving behind a wife and daughter. the red cross helping a family of four after their fire caught fire. and they were called about 3:00 a.m. and smoke was coming from the home when they arrived. the fire knocked out in less than 15 minutes. everyone inside was able to get out safely. the cause has not yet been determined. a woman hit by three difficult cars and was killed early this morning in philadelphia. the search continues now for that first driver. it happened just before 5:00 a.m. in the 4600 block of broad street in the logan section of the city. "action news" reporter katherine scott with more from the scene.

>> no car parts left behind from the striking vehicle. the police are looking for the public's help for this one. putting the word out to body shots saying the car would have heavy front-end damage and want to hear from you if you have tips. >> thrown up there like a rag doll. >> and taking out her trash around 5:00 a.m. when she heard it. she turned around to see a woman flying through the air. >> i seen a lady go up in the air, down, hit the ground. >> she looked like a mannequin because she flipped twice in midair about 30 feet and came down. and that's when the other car came and ran over her and kept going. >> edward jackson driving by when he witnessed the crash. the police closed the lanes as they investigated. a woman believed to be in her 40s was crossing broad street, topless and not in a cross walk and the car had the green light. hit by the first car and thrown about 80 feet and two more vehicles hit her.

she was pronounced dead at the hospital. the driver of the second car stopped at the scene. >> if you did not see her you should have felt the impact. no excuse for that. >> late in the morning the third driver drove to the police station after hearing a news report. she told the police at the time she didn't realize what she hit. believing the striking vehicle was white and a red light across the back similar to a dodge dart with heavy front-end damage. >> we know broad street, probably normal speed, 40 or 45 miles an hour. it is not unusual for broad street. >> looking for surveillance video that may help in the investigation. and time for a check of the traffic report on a friday night. >> and matt pellman in the traffic center, tgif, matt. >> the same to you. you don't expect this to be a smooth commute, do you? >> i was hoping.

>> no, a holiday friday afternoon. it is a mess looking live at the schuylkill expressway. there is at all times wishful thinking i guess. westbound, we have plenty of traffic away from the vine street expressway to gladwin a 20-minute display on the westbound travel time. the mlk drive no out-bound traffic because it is blocked off between the art museum circumstance many because of the made in america preparations making a mess of the commute around the art museum. the ben franklin parkway blocked off as well as ajoining streets. if you are coming out of the city this afternoon, think outside of the box a little bit using ridge avenue or lancaster avenue because the parkway is closed and the schuylkill westbound as we showed you is very businessy. the parkway closers giving us detours on a number of septa bus routes. throughout the weekend with the concerts they provide extra train service, as well as extra

subway trains. and a vehicle fire on the northeast extension a couple of miles north of the lehigh valley interchange of the fire out and everything off to the side, still dealing with a backlog. out and about in central jersey slow on the turnpike and the crash on the westbound of 195 past hamilton square road taking out the left lane. and down the shore, 55 southbound the route thigh -- through gloucester county. speeds back up and improvement in that neck of the woods. we will check it out in the next half-hour. >> maybe not, matt. -- we will see you in the next half-hour. contact lens may not be the best choice for your children's eyes. how they can do more harm than good. and checking out an app that will help recognize concussions.

jersey who disappeared laid to rest. aharon sofer disappeared after separated from a friend. his parents flew to israel to help with the search. the authorities do not suspect fall play. "healthcheck," the ebola outbreak in africa spread to . and identified as a university student from the west african county where it began last year. and at least 3,000 people now contracted the disease. >> and a warning for parents and children that contact lenses not always the best fit. a study in 2010 showed 25% of children taken to the emergency room for injuries caused by medical devices by contact lens.

>> great start to the labor day weekend. the big board with melissa magee. >> hi there, monica and rick. definitely a great start to the holiday weekend. as the weekend progresses you notice an increase in the humidity and threat of pop-up showers and storms. outside this afternoon really comfortable. philadelphia coming in at 79. the upper 70s in trenton. pair of 7s for wilmington and dover. along the coach from beach haven to sea isle city temperatures in the lower 70s. 78 to the north and west in allentown. if you are stepping out later tonight, perhaps firing up the grill for some early-evening barbecue, we have the forecast on the way for you. a few clouds, comfortable this evening. 6:00 p.m., 78. lower 70s getting into 8:00 tonight. the satellite 6 along with action radar. a few high thin clouds across areas in new york across pennsylvania and through south jersey. not calling for any

only fan to get seriously hurt by a flying ball there. and nora muchanic with more on the new mission. >> i just remember seeing like a white blur, like a foot away from my face and it hit me. >> 10-year-old alexis is nursing a concussion and broken bones in her nose and skull after a baseball at a blueclaws game in lakewood slammed into her so hard her brain was exposed to air. it happened while they were snack in this table in the concession area off first base. >> i saw her grab her face and go to the ground. and it left a burn mark on her nose. and the ambulance workers said it happened a couple of times the last few weeks and we were terrified. and the nurse at the hospital said when is someone going to do this? i see so many children with injuries from the ballpark. >> and they decided they would try to do something and started a fa
