thunderstorms. i'll have more on that, matt. >> the search for a shooting victim leads police to a grim discovery, a burning car with the man's body inside. annie mccormick has the details. >> reporter: hi, matt, these are crimes that appear to be connected. homicide that has not made a poe identification on the body because it was so badly burned. they do not have an official cause of death. the video was taken by a viewer on a cell phone showing the car on fire, that's where fire crews after dousing the fire discovered a man dead in the passenger seat. that happened in an alley in the olney section of the city around 8:00 p.m. already, northwest detectives were close by in the 400 block of roslyn investigate reports from witnesses of shots fired

from a vehicle matching the description of the one on fire. witnesses and family members of the man saying was the man in the passenger seat in the vehicle was shot in the head. police have not confirmed his identity or confirmed that he was shot in the head. one of the witnesses claims the victim was her brother. the detectives called local hospitals and officers were on foot patrol looking for the vehicle described in the shooting when they saw the smoke arena flames nearby. >> right it's an investigation in progress, we're processing the crime scene. eventually the body will be transported to the office of the medical examiner where the body will receive and autopsy, but be identified to find out who in fact this person actually is. >> reporter: now, last night police say they were looking for a heavy-set male that was seen running from the scene that

children's museum went horribly wrong sending 13 people to the hospital. a smoke tornado simulation malfunctioned. the burns were to the arms, handles and face. staff members acid the chemicals used to make the demonstration most likely caused the blast. the justice department has announced a civil rights investigation into the police department in ferguson, missouri. they will examine previous police stops and arrests to see if there's a pattern of discrimination and excessive force. a police officer shot and killed michael brown one month ago. the teenager was unarmed. massive violence and protests fold. >> what is going on. you're scaring my children.
