well, good monday morning to you. i'm reena ninan. >> i'm dan kloeffler. we begin this week with millions of americans cleaning up from more wild weather. >> the fires putting dozens of hikers at risk in yosemite national park. the blaze swelling without warning. a popular recreation area just east of half dome. hundreds of acres going up in flames in yosemite national park, an american treasure in california. 100 campers are rushed out. some of them trapped, needing emergency evacuation. the fire exploding in size in the past 24 hours. a lightning strike started the fire several weeks ago. in southern california, the remnants of hurricane norbert dumped downpours on riverside county. the rain so intense, some drivers left their flooded cars

behind. >> this car here started floating. it's still there. >> reporter: flash flood watches are posted until later this morning in parts of southern california. thunderstorms from a powerful cold front hit suburban boston. two women were struck by lightning. they're in critical condition. nearby, a tree slammed through family's home. >> my mind is blown. i'm grateful no one is hurt. >> reporter: up to 13 inches of rain fell on parts of lake city, florida. >> problem. because then you have to start all over again. i have had to start over a bunch of times. i'm only 27. i've had to start over a bunch of times. >> reporter: the red cross is helping some families. everyone is told to stay out of the flood water. strong winds blew through an atlanta regional airport, tipping four planes. a blast of cold air pushing down from canada this week could

bring frost and snow to parts of the upper tier of the country. a dramatic cooling from coast cocoast, particularly in up the eer midwest. later this week, temperatures forecast to dip into the 30s in rural minnesota and other places. another expansion of the u.s. fight against isis extremists. over the weekend, american forces launched new air strikes to protect the dam in western iraq. american drones have been seen flying surveillance flights over syria. on wednesday, the president will give major speech for going on the offensive against the isis threat. isis may try to strike back, especially with this week's 9/11 anniversary. or from yemen where bokmakers are still trying to smuggle bobs on to planes. and then there's the wild card

of home grown terrorists. law maikers getting back to work among a looming government shutdown. both republicans and democrats are vowing to act to avoid a shutdown and keep federal agencies running into mid december. the outcome of the high-stakes midterm elections will term what happens next. texas gubernatorial hopeful wendy davis has reignited the abortion debate by discussing her own abortion. in an exclusive interview are our own robin roberts, davis discussed how she ended a difficult pregnancy in the '9 0s. that drew sympathy from top democrats and republicans. the gentleman macon military and u.s. coast guard have suspended the search for a private plane that cashed after the pilot lost consciousness. a rochester new york businessman

what is driving a rare and mysterious virus that's on the move and targeting children. >> it starts out as a cold, but it turns into major health care, kids rushed to emergency rooms unable to breathe. this morning, a virus is veding across the opportunity. more than 1,000 children across essential states have been sickened. the disease has not been identified. doctors at the cdc suspect it's a rare vooirs, human enterovirus 68 linked to the common cold. 15-year-old will cornejo had to be rushed to the hospital. >> my heart started hurting after my lungs started closing up. >> reporter: he was at risk because he has asthma. will's parents are sharing their story. >> he came really close to death. he was unconscious at our house.

attacked a 6-year-old boy in california. the boy was hiking with his family when the lion latched on to him by his neck and dragged him into some bushes. the parents managed to fight the animal off. the boy suffered puncture wounds but he's expected to make a full recovery. a massive explosion at a hotel in kentucky. the blast ripped the side of the building completely off, exposing the interior of several rooms. it happened about ten minis after a car hit the hotel's gas main. 60 rooms were occupied. everyone was evacuated. luckily, there were no injuries. this video shot by police in oregon as they chased a woman who had stole an boat from a marina. witnesses said she was ranting and threatening everyone before taking off for a joyride that lasted about a quarter of a mile before the engine overheated. she was arrested and will face a judge today. >> might be the last vacation she takes for a little bit.
