this, is as well. a nasty accident causing problems right now. police are on the hand directing traffic in the area. stick to the detours and use leonard avenue. let's go outside live on the boulevard. broad street we're in the clear, boulevard dry and looking good. that big accident in northeast philadelphia, matt and tam. >> new this morning, a man was shot and involved in a crash on the way to the hospital. the shooting happened before 1:00 p.m. on the 5600 block of catherine street in west philadelphia. the victim was shot sitting on the porch. someone try to to get the man into the car and to the hospital. about a half block away the car collided with another car. the victim is? critical condition. police are looking for the trigger man and there's no word on a motive for the shooting.

police are looking for a pick up truck who struck and killed a person in south jersey. it happened on mantua pike. a 52-year-old man was walking in the northbound lanes when the truck hit him. he was rushed to the hospital where he died. the truck was described as greenish blue dodge pick up with gray or silver accents with an extended cab. police are looking for a suspect who robbed and shot an 18-year-old. the victim told police he was robbed and shot in the chest. he is in the hospital in stable condition. it is time, many students across the region have already been in school for a week, the final group of children heading back today happens to attend class in the region's largest school district. katherine scott is making this first day of going to public

school even more special for one family in mount airy. >> reporter: more special or more chaotic. the "action news" tradition continues. it's the first day of school in philadelphia. there's a lot of excitement and concerns over the budget. it's the first day of school, the teachers across the city like here at this school in south philadelphia are in the classrooms getting ready. teachers have to be resourceful at a time money is tight. >> they never want to the students to feel like they are in a crisis. >> the principal said the discretionary budget for school supplies is $2,000. during the good times it would be around 50,000. with an 81 million-dollar short fall and uncertainty district schools are opening on time with

here the numbers across the region, 68 degrees in philadelphia. 65 degrees in wilmington. and 60 degrees in allentown. 63 in trenton. a pair of 73s in sea isle city and the boardwalk in atlantic city. cloud cover will be centered to the south of philadelphia. although at times between now and noon, future tracker 6 showing you it may sweep up into the northern suburbs, as well. we go later into the afternoon and there's a chance it pulls back down into the suburbs. cloud cover wise it's cloudier to the south and sunnier to the north. up in allentown we'll go for a mix of sun and clouds, pleasant enough high of 75. humidity on the low side today, manageable. down the shore just in case you don't have kids and you're trying to extend your summer into the weeks a little bit, no problem there, 73 on the beach, but cloudy along the shore not as warm as yesterday. in philadelphia, we're going for a high of 77 this afternoon.

comfortable and cooler than yesterday, clouds and occasional sun and a bit on the breezy side, too. as we roll through the day, 68 degrees by 8:00. 72 by 11:00, 77 around 3:00 p.m. when the kids are coming out of school. for the phillies a bit cool. or cooler than recently. pirates in town, 68 for the first -- 70 for the first pitch, 70 for the 9th inning. we have might have rain south of philadelphia, and might reach to the i-95 corridor. not a torrential downpour certainly, but the farther south you are, the better chance you have of seeing that. we have clouds to the south and high of 77ment pleasant in terms of how it feels out there.

tractor-trailer between 73 and 168 specifically in camden county. the tractor-trailer went under an overpals and got sheered off on the top. it's off to the side, but they may need to unload on to another tractor-trailer. northbound near 168 you want to watch for the accident happening in new jersey. we've got another problem out there in upper providence a vehicle ran off the roadway, this new, too, look for it on collegeville road near black rock road. the action cam was on the scene look at this car, the car smashes into a chinese restaurant, the police are on the scene. they are directing traffic, the trouble is they brought down the pole. pieces of the car all over the place, police blocking this off in northeast philadelphia, this is bustleton avenue which is closed between long shore and harbison avenue, stick to the boulevard instead. use leonard street.
