it's 5 o'clock on this wednesday, september 10th and here's what's happening. >> atlantic city hopes to ease the burden of unemployment today as another casino threatens to shut its doors. >> a teen jumps on top of two septa trains while trying to escape from police. >> ray rice's wife comes to her husband's defense. one expert explains why many victims of domestic violence stay in the relationship. >> and we have a preview of your accuweather forecast and a look at traffic with david and karen. good morning. >> all right, guys, well, take a look. i know it doesn't look like i'm here but i am. take a look at satellite and we do have -- well, let's see if we can get this rolling -- we do have some cloud cover overhead. this start d to march in in the overnight hours. you can see it is still in place across most of the region and there's a chance of a little more sunshine down south in places like the state of delaware, perhaps cape may county new jersey as we start out. speaking of the shore we have another coastal flood advisory. because of that coastal storm which is pulling away from us but there's enough of a northeast flow coming in on the ocean or on the ocean

front where during times of high tide this morning which is between 8:30 and 10:30 this morning in south jersey ann little later into the early afternoon in delaware, there's the chance of some minor flooding much the way you saw yesterday and once more today, we have at least a moderate, maybe a high risk of rip currents and i'm a little more concerned because the weather is nicer down the beach today. you probably want to stay out of the water. 68 degrees in philadelphia, 64 in millville right now, 67 in wilmington, so a pretty decent start out there, not a lot of wind, cool and comfortable conditions and as we head out to start up the car, catch that school bus we'll still be in the 60's between six and 8 o'clock. by 8 o'clock the upper 60's and fairly comfortable. a lot of us will start out with mostly cloudy skies but as we go through the day, you'll see that sun reemerging and we'll get into a more of a partly sunny afternoon. 69 by 9 o'clock, 75 by noon. 83-degree reading by 4 o'clock. 79 degrees by dinnertime. more humid tomorrow with the chance of late day or night

time thunderstorms. karen details on that coming up in that seven day. >> dave let's hit the roads and get this day started. live in southwest philadelphia this is i-95 right by the airport. you can see the flashing lights. we still have construction out here so watch for it. it's southbound on i-95 blocking the right lane so don't forget to stay left coming off of the girard point bridge. other than that looking good on i-95 and the construction near girard has cleared. on the boulevard northbound near devereaux we do still have paving work so watch for some restrictions right there. let's go outside live on the ben franklin bridge. quiet this morning but we do still have construction. it's blocking the two right lanes right now westbound as you try to come into the city. they expect to open one more lane before the morning rush. this has been causing delays on the ben and that's like to happen again today. bellmawr 295 southbound near 168 construction blocks one lane out there for about another hour, tam. >> thank you karen. thousands of recently laid off casino workers in atlantic city will have a little bit of help finding a new job today but this job fair comes as

another casino struggles to stay opened. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live in our satellite center with more details. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tam. that job fair runs from 10:00 to 4:00 today at the atlantic city convention center. dozens of employers will be there including shop rite and wawa and there are hundreds of positions to fill. these jobs are sorely needed. over the last week, the atlantic city convention center has been transformed into a resource center for laid off workers, so people can get help filing for unemployment. thousands of casino workers have lost their jobs or are losing their jobs in the coming weeks and the area was already struggling with unemployment before the first casino closed in january. now they're bracing for massive filings of unemployment benefits and unemployment benefits with the closing the of showboat and revel. executives say the taj mahal could close in november unless it gets concessions from workers and says

reorganization, not liquidation is needed. >> trump taj mahal is not closing so there's not going to be any unemployment surrounding the trump reorganization. >> reporter: and again that job fair runs from 10:00 to 4:00 today at the atlantic city convention center in room 411 and 412 of that center and apparently there are going to be computers and printer there is so people can print out their resumes as they're seeking job. live in the satellite center katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> a police chase led to the focus of the pursuit jumping on top of trains. septa police released this video of a teenager trying to escape police on monday. they say he had tried to jump a turnstile is the eerie and torresdale station. with police on his tail, the teen jumped on top of an eastbound plane and then

jumped on the top a westbound plane. he continue d to run until police trapped him in an exit and took him into custody. >> this is a bizarre incident and it's actually criminal because he could have -- he could have got somebody hurt as well as hurt himself. this is just bizarre. i've never seen anything like this before. >> the teen faces a long list of charges. a woman who was shot in the face while inside her home in the city's queen village neighborhood has died. police were called to the 900 block of south fifth street on monday night and when they arrived they discovered the 32-year-old victim had been shot in the mouth and arm. this is now a homicide case. no arrests have been made but police were looking for her live in boyfriend. >> it is 5:05. faculty and students at the art institute of philadelphia poured out their grief at a memorial for a grad student murderd in july. words of pain and sorrow for these those who knew laura araujo well. one said she was a person of

strength and integrity. >> it's heartbreaking. i tell everybody i wish we were doing laura's wedding instead of this memorial. >> araujo's plans flew in from oklahoma for the memorial service. police charged 22 year old jeremiah jackson with the young woman's further. she was a neighbor who killed her during a robbery and set her suv on fire after trying to hide her body on a kensington light. she planned to move out of that mantua boarding house where she was living because she was uncomfortable there. >> seven parents in philadelphia are suing the pennsylvania department of education saying it has failed to investigate alarming conditions in the city's public schools. the parents say they have center more than 825 complaints to the department during the last year documenting overcrowded classrooms and shortage in the nursing and library staff and add they have received little response from state education officials. philadelphia schools started class on monday. the district has made $32 million in cuts to balance the budget and keep them

opened. the philadelphia school district has settled a religious discrimination lawsuit filed by the u.s. justice department. the suit accused administrators of discriminating against an employee who didn't want to trim his beard for religious reasons. the attorney says the district can keep its beard trimming policy but will be required to make exceptions for religious purposes. >> turning to accuweather it's a little cool out there now but you say it will be warmer. >> yeah, it will be warmer and we'll see more sun than yesterday. i did a late afternoon walk yesterday it was kind of a nice autumnal feel a little breezy and we ended up not getting much rain. storm tracker 6 live double scan, we're rain free this morning. you might encounter a fair amount of cloud cover. it's not low enough to obscure our view of the ben franklin bridge. so maybe there's some clouds around early but i expect the store break back through those clouds fairly quickly today and overall we should wind up with kind of a partly sunny day ahead. 68 degrees right now in philadelphia, so we're off to a fairly comfortable start.

cool out there. not all that humid. 65 in allentown, 67 in wilmington, 65 in trenton and 66 degrees right now down the shore. as we take a rook at satellite and radar you can see that cloud cover has been sweeping in. looks like they're a little less in delaware and extreme south jersey. we'll see breaks in notice clouds as i mentioned. over all a mix of clouds with increasing sunshine as the day goes on. sun and clouds this afternoon in allentown. warmer, a high of 80 degrees after spending yesterday in the 70's. and down the shore, a better day on the beach. we're going to get up to about 77 for a high this afternoon. it will be clouds giving way to more sun as the day goes on many a little warmer. the problem with the beach is that there is that chance of rip currents in the ocean and of course without lifeguards after labor day not a good day to be in the water. if philadelphia we're going for a high of 81 a-bit warmer than yesterday with that clouds and sun mix. winds not quite as strong, out of the northeast at six to 12. that's a pretty light breeze. 68 degrees by 8 o'clock. and by 11 o'clock, 73. 79 by 2:00 and then we will be in the low 80's for a little

while later today. looks like we'll get a high of 81 around 4 o'clock with that clouds and sun mix. for the phillies tonight milder than the last couple nights, 76 for the first pitch, 71 in the ninth inning against the pirates. then tomorrow we have an issue. it's going to get warmer and more humid during the day. looks like during the afternoon we're probably okay precipitation-wise but as we get later into the day and especially into the evening hours there is the chance of a very good line of strong gusty thunderstorms building in and it may take until about 11:00, 11:30 midnight for that to actually get down to the coast and clear. it will be a busy night tomorrow night for adam joseph and cecily tyson on channel 17 and 6abc but keep that in mind, strong storms possible tomorrow night. 81 today clouds mixing with sun nice. tomorrow more humid 88 during the day and then that chance of a thunderstorm at night in particular. on friday we have less humid conditions, more comfortable, 78. saturday there's the chance of a couple of pop-up hours showers here and there during the day. the union playing at 3 o'clock. the phillies i believe are at

>> ♪ >> good morning everyone. 5:12. wednesday morning. atlantic city new jersey. of course we're reminding you about a job fair. we'll have a report on that coming up for all those people looking for work now that several casinos have closed. >> let's head over to karen rogers at this early hour see how things are looking in that suburban traffic report. >> you have to wake up a little early in the suburbs to get going. let's check it live. we're looking in delaware county. this is the blue route right near route three and maybe a little hard to see from this shot but we've got cones still up. construction out there blocking the right lane so watch for a tiny bit of slowing here through that construction zone but it should be wrapping up pretty shortly there. on the northeast extension northbound approaching lansdale construction blocking the left lane southbound approaching quakertown it's blocking a lane as well and southbound approaching -- between quakertown and lansdale blocking the left lane so lots of construction out there at this early hour. we're seeing speeds like 60 miles an hour even with

these three different work zones on the northeast extension you're pretty good to go, no reports of accidents out there. it's early yet. pen salk can ken more construction, this one blocking up to two lanes so that may cause i was little issue. it should be out there for almost another hour. this is 130 northbound near route 38. so look for that. let's go to your commuter traffic report and see what's going on and this is the way we like it on wednesday morning, nice and quiet, plymouth meeting no problem there, when it pain township showing no issues, fort washington, greater horsham area, no one's reporting any issues out there this morning and certainly no weather related problems. it's 68 degrees right now in philadelphia. we've got a good looking commute ahead so far. we think weather-wise. clouds and sunshine a warmer high of 81 so no problems for the afternoon commute, either, tam. >> thank you, karen. the elevator video of ray rice hitting his then fiancé janay palmer has shaken the nfl and unleashed a nationwide conversation on domestic violence. video released monday prompted janay palmer to blame the
