and a very good tuesday morning, everyone, i'm dan kloeffler. >> and i'm reena ninan. we begin in california. a dozen major wildfires tearing across state this morning, fueled by powerful winds and stifling heat. >> the newest near the oregon border, forcing half of a town to evacuate and torching every home in its path. but from there, a little farther south, the big worry, rain. and lots of it. all from the remnants of hurricane odile. >> since slamming into ka bow san lucas, it's heading towards the southwestern u.s. >> it's cut a path of destruction across baja, california, the 125 mile an hour winds leveling just about everything in its path. the authorities are overwhelmed with emergency shelters and

loots. there are no reports of deaths or serious jurinjuries. >> but it's packing a punch and in phoenix, residents are stacking sandbags. by the time odile hits the u.s., it's expected to have winds of 40 miles an hour and dump up to a foot of rain in its path. >> even ahead of odile's rival, the south can expect more heavy rain. >> accuweather's jim dickey joins us now. >> good morning. hot on the southwest, many spots with records on monday, and again today. 101 in fresno, 98 in phoenix. slightly cooler. that's the continued cloud cover as odile weakens, but spreading deep moisture in. heavy rain much like with norberg just a week or two ago. likely flooding through late

. welcome back on this tuesday morning, everyone. apple says its iphone 6 preorders set a record. it sold 4 million in just 24 hours. that is double the preorders for the iphone 5 two years ago. that's more of the new models than apple has ready to ship. some of those rushed to websites to get the 6 will get them friday, but many others won't see them until october. macy's and bloomingdales are testing same day delivery. using 50 stores as fulfillment centers, the drivers pick up the merchandise at the stores and deliver within 14 miles. macy's hasn't decided how much the service will cost, but says it will be competitive. the olive garden is
