good after noop, we begin with breaking news on i-95 at this hour. chopper 6 is over an accident involving a state police cruise under tinicum township, the crash happened in the southbound lanes of i-95 and bar tram avenue at 11:30, the police cruiser hit the guardrail and came to rest on the highway, the trooper had to be freed from the vehicle. he has none life-threatening injuries. chopper 6 hd caught a car that burst into flames on the highway. crews were able to bring the flames under control shortly before noon. >> we are following the investigation into how an 8-year-old girl fell to her death in university city. the child plunged nine stories from an apartment building on

locust street. katherine xotd is joining us live with the latest. >> reporter: and rick, when police arrived this morning a father was holding his 8-year-old daughter in his arms, she was unresponsive and she was rushed to chop and she did not survive, she had fallen from a ninth story window here at this apartment building, they believe the screen was down when the child went to bed. >> the screams of an 11-year-old sister alerted a father that his 8-year-old daughter fell from this window. they lived at the fairfax building with his two daughters, he slept in the living room and they in the bedroom. >> the kids had woken up before the father and the 8-year-old was looking out the window and tragically falls from the

window. >> investigators were surveying the scene from locust street this morning. police say that the 11-year-old sister was in the room but it's unclear if she actually saw what happened. her father ran to the alley when he heard what happened. he went and picked the child up and carried her out. the injuries were devastating. >> penn alexander school is across the street and they don't attend that school because they are talking about reaching out to the family. >> we'll consult with the school to make a gesture, it could be anyone's kid. >> can you see investigators around the ninth story window, these are typical windows with screens and locks and they will talk to that 11-year-old sister but want to give her time an access to grief counselors.

katherine scott, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. philadelphia police tell "action news" that they expect several suspects in the attack on a gay couple to come in for questioning today. investigators released these surveillance videos of the 12 people that allegedly assaulted the man last thursday night. the victims told please that the group made remarks about the couple's orientation, they helped police identified the suspects on social media. that is in a live report at 12:30. the search is still on for a survival lift that shot two police officers and killed one of them. eric frein is considered danger and accused of opening fire on their barracks, they say that frein has a vendetta against law enforcement and has talked about

tropical storm odile, once a powerful category 3 hurricane, now a tropical storm, only 40 miles per hour winds, but here is the trouble, it's moving at just 6 miles per hour, just crawling along, the rain you see is ahead of the low, the low is to the southwest and moving to arizona and new mexico, and spreading threatening weather, we are talking about concerns with flash flooding. here is the national weather service that is posting the warnings in parts of california and nevada and new mexico, and even at this hour, a couple of warnings that have already just started to pop up ahead of this. they had heavy rain overnight and the worst is yet to come later today and in the overnight hours, the trouble is the ground is already so saturated. everything else they get it's just running off. that creates concerns for flash flooding. look at this over the last couple of days, phoenix had historic flooding and flash flooding as well.

we have an update now on the breaking news from philadelphia international airport chopper 6 hd captured the keep as the vehicle erupted into flames on the tarmac this morning. officials tell us it was a u.s. airways catering truck. the fire was burning close to planes on the runway but crews were able to bring it under control shortly before noon. nobody was hurt and the cause remains under investigation. >> some incredible new images of a neighborhood wiped out by a wild fire in northern california. this video shows the charred remaybes of homes in the town of weed. the flames burned through 150 houses this week after gusty win winds fanned the flames on monday.

the cause is still under investigation. to san diego now lightning sparked a fire that stopped traffic yesterday. the flames engulfed a palm tree and sent ash to the sidewalk below. the phrase erupted during a powerful storm that knocked out power and six different planes were thrown in the air causing thousands in damage. witnesses say it felt like a tornado and hurricane all at once. the minnesota vikings banned adrian peterson from the team while he faces child abuse alligations in texas. after previously stating peterson could play on sunday after shorting the case out. he is charged with a felony for using a wooden switch to spank his young son.

after a gay couple was brutally attacked in center city, "action news" learned that attorneys for the group are talking to central detectives making arrangements to bring their clients in for questioning. they believe they can identify the suspected attackers and have them in custody soon and they say that social media played a big role in doing that. >> in america you get to be who you are, you don't get to be jumped for being who you are. >> a long time friend of the victim says that one had to have his jaw wired shut and got stitches in his face. around 10:45 that night, this group of 15 people encountered two gay men, ables 27 and 28, on chancellor street and walnut. they asked if they were boyfriends, homophobic slurs

were thrown and they were robbed of a cell phone and wallet. and now social media sleuthing by twitter users for helping to push this investigation forward. >> have you people in twitter who recognized something was wrong and disgusting and did something about it. >> he says he tweeted the video of thousands of his followers and then looked on facebook to see who checked into nearby restaurants and clicked links and matched pictures of the video. and retweeted a picture taken of the same group at a nearby restaurant. central detectives don't think everybody was involved in the attack but believe that 10 to 12 of them joined in on the assault that is called a hate crime. >> the boys are happy there is clear footage and they want justice done not just for them but so it doesn't ever happen again in philadelphia.

services for officer dickson are tomorrow in scranton. a man that shot a man in his 30s last night is still on large. the victim told police he was on the corner when he was suddenly shot in the face, he was able to run a block away that is where police found him and rushed him to the hospital. he is listed in stable but critical condition. a family is displaced because of a fast moving house fire, on the 5100 block of reno street, when firefighters got there, they found heavy smoke coming from the second floor and it took a half hour to get things under control, fortunately nobody was hurt. a judge has denied a defense request for separate trials for the two men charged in last year's deadly center city building collapse. they are both charged with third
