let's go live on sky 6 we are expecting the skies to brighten up this afternoon, but it's been a gray morning in the delaware valley. that's the view of the center city skyline. most of the fog has lifted, it's gray, and gloomy but we're dry. on a positive note, the clouds are helping to keep the temperatures down. we were expecting highs to top out in the low to mid 80s. it will be a struggle to do so now unless we get full sun which looks unlikely. 72 in millville. wilmington, 74. 66 in allentown, poconos 71 and reading 68 degrees. we have the squeeze play going on. coastal system working its way up the eastern seaboard. cold front approaching from the west. the two are closing in on the delaware valley. you can see the thicker cloud tops indicated by the brighter shades of white. accuweather says you may get

sunshine over the next couple of hours, mainly cloudy skies, you'll get the sun late in the day. forecasting i a high of 80 degrees. warmer today, but a cool down is in the forecast, perfectly so, the first day of fall is tomorrow and the temperatures plummet. i'll have the details in just a bit. >> a dispute between nurses and administrators at crozer-chester medical center has nurses hitting the picket line. the nurses walked south to express their complaints about staffing they say is dangerously low. amy buckman is chester with details. >> reporter: good afternoon, if you take a look at behind me they are on the picket line. they are not with their patients. they say this is not what they want to be doing today, but they are concerned about medical care. the nurses say the issues behind the walk out includes staffing

and pay cuts and pension. staffing is the main concern. the hospital says the staffing leaves are adequate and above national averages. >> this is not something we wanted to do, this is something we had to do. because they are not listening what we tell them about the care. >> reporter: in the statement a hospital spokesman said nurses at crozer medical center are the highest paid in pennsylvania with full time nurses average $107,000. the nurses planned to end their strike tuesday morning, but the hospital hired reapproximate placement nurses -- hired replacement nurses who have a five day commitment. so the regular nurses will be back out until thursday. >> we hope the hospital will

return to the table to negotiate fairly. >> reporter: we just received a statement from the hospital a few minutes ago they say they are disappointed that the nurses have chosen to go out on strike, but well trained nurses will provide care for their families throughout the duration of any strike. >> now to the accused cop killer, eric frein, road blocks have been removed in a pennsylvania community where police are searching for frein, the suspect in the police ambush. residents are under to be vigilant as the man hint reaches its 9th day. tactical teams are using police helicopters with thermal cameras and on foot heavily armed

out. we're live at the linc, ducis rogers channel 6 "action news." >> thank you, security is beefed up and now includes surveillance officers patrols after an embarrassing security breach and second incident yesterday involving a teenager from south jersey. curve car from burlington county was arrested. he went to the white house on foot and then in his car entering a vehicle screening area and refusing to leave on friday night an intruder scaled the fence and made it inside before being stopped. guard dogs were not released as was standard procedure. despite the incidents, president obama said he has full faith in the secret service's ability to protect him. >> runners were rocking out for a good cause this morning. thousands of runners pounded the pavement in the rock and roll half marathon.

to brighten up, they are trying to brighten up a little bit, there's the view in atlantic city, clouds are holding on, temperatures are on the lower side because we're dealing with the cloud cover. storm tracker 6 live double scan we're clear in the immediate area, but if you look to the right-hand side of the screen, that's the coastal low that's working out to sea. that's the reason we're seeing the cloud cover did you work the first part of the afternoon. pilots, 69. saint davids 69. chester, # 1. buena, 72. glassboro, 70. cinnaminson, 68. ewing 69 degrees. fortunately we're seeing cloud cover at it is keeping the temperatures down, the dewpoints are high. if we were seeing temperatures in the 80s like we were originally expecting and dewpoints like this, it will be more uncomfortable. tomorrow would feel like a breath of fresh air. it's going to feel like fall.

at it is the first day of fall. appropriately the numbers tank off. there's the coastal low, thick overcast across the tri state. we have more clouds approaching from the west west in the form. cold front. we're getting the squeeze play both systems converging on the delaware valley. that's limiting the sunshine we're seeing this afternoon. here's a look at the surface maps today. the bulk of the energy with the cold front will pass to the north. maybe we see showers late this afternoon into the evening hours. probably most of us will stay dry. but we'll continue to allow that chance for a shower shore thunderstorm after 5 or 6:00 p.m. from west to east. the coastal system works out to sea. we'll see the southwesterly winds ahead of the fronts. we're up to 80 degrees give or take this afternoon. tomorrow winds shift out of the northwest, canadian high sets in, that means temperatures struggle to get into the low 70s in the and holding steady in the upper 60s north and west. future tracker 6 we continue the

>> atlantic city isn't the gambling mecca with casino problems, even a famous name didn't bring them in mississippi. jimmy buffet filed for bankruptcy and closed the doors hours before the landlord was going to seize the property. the landlord said the casino hadn't paid any rent since 2012. the company said it has 164 creditors. investigation is underway into a deadly crash during a sprint car race in wisconsin. 47-year-old scott semilemen was killed at the track. his car flipped and crashed into the concrete wall in the third turn. the rest of the race was canceled after the tragedy. it was the first tragedy since it reopened in 19933. >> the eagles have a half-hour

hospital with the latest. >> reporter: good afternoon, the nurses on the picket lines behind me here at crozer-chester medical center tell me they would be rather in patient rooms taking care of the sick, but they feel they have to be out here because management won't listen to their concerns about staffing levels inside. crozer-chester's 550 nurses say the issues hindz -- behind the walkout include staffing, and pay cuts and pension. >> they tell everybody the staffing is within the 50% of the nation, that's not good enough, if i got 50% on a test in nursing school, i wouldn't be a nurse today. >> reporter: spokesperson for the hospital sated nurses are the most high paid nurses in

pennsylvania. >> we get paid well. we get paid what i think is appropriate. it's not about the money, we haven't asked for a raise. this is about unsafe staffing, getting the right people at the bed side to take care of the patients we get here. >> reporter: the nurse planned to end their strike tuesday morning, but the hospital hired replacement nurses who they say have a five day minimum commitment, so the regular nurses will be out through thursday. the hospital issued a statement this morning saying they are disappointed that the nurses decided to take this action and adding that license certified and experienced and well-trained nurses will provide care for the patients and their families throughout the strike of any duration. unless they decide to meet on tuesday. amy buckman channel 6 "action news." >> two children and an adult who tried to rescue them are

recovering after being attacked by a dog in west oak lane. the kids were attacked by a bit pull that got under the fence as the group was walking down the 1500 block beverly street. the neighbor said the dog attacked his dog last week and the dog had to be put down. the agency said they don't confiscate dogs on dog incidents. >> a man was struck and killed after trying to cross 4600 block of north 5th street when he was hit by a pick up truck. the driver of the truck stopped and no charges have been filed. >> the search for a missing university virginia student is in its second week. a thousand volunteers fanned out from the campus to search the char lot lotsville area. 18-year-old hannah graham

the system they do not already have. a big train derailment cleanup continues near altoona pennsylvania. it was heading to wilmington, delaware when it happened. it was carrying cars when it ended up on its side scattered across the tracks. nobody was hurt in the derailment. >> three teenagers are alive this afternoon all thanks to a dozen strangers who rushed to help them when their suv flipped over in a creek. it happened in salt lake city, utah. witnesses say the suv was speeding down the road when the young driver lost control and the vehicle flew off the bridge and landed on the roof in a creek. by standards worked their way into the water and pulled two teens out right away, but the driver was trapped inside. that's when the good samaritans somehow managed to flip the suv back on to it's tires. >> when we did turn the vehicle over there was no movement from him for another five minutes.

i think he is alive because people reacted to quickly. >> the driver is in the hospital in serious condition, but a survivor, because some very brave people refused to let him die in the vehicle. >> a bucks county veteran who has struggled with post traumatic distress disorder has found help in martial arts and he is hoping to start a new program to help others just like him. nora muchanic has his story. >> i remember one time jumping over-the-counter to get to my box. >> reporter: for decades, bob has struggled with post traumatic stress disorder. he was beaten by a stepfather and he joined the marines. he was fired from jobs and said everyday was a battle until three years ago when he found the martial arts. >> i loved to compete ever since i was a kid.

it was an outto escape and doing something for yourself. >> reporter: he has become a master in 3 short years and ranked 8th in the world for middleweight purple belt and found a way to manage the ptsd that left him disabled. >> it's attacking my fear, when i see my mom getting hit it's like that violence i'm going to that source and make it apart of me and use it to relax. >> reporter: he said the martial arts did for him what medication couldn't. else trying to spread the word to help other vets who are living with ptsd. >> i want to be someone other people can live up. >> reporter: he is hoping that the veteran administration will funds an outreach abraham to -- program to aid vets deal with

because of the clouds we're cooler than yesterday at this time. again, the more sun we see, the quirk these numbers will start to respond. satellite and radar, cloud cover across the area, although we are starting to see a little bit of brightening taking place down the jersey shore and actually south and west, as well. in time all of this will start to clear out, as this coastal storm is sitting right about there, just off the coast of norfolk right there. that will continue to raise on by to the northeast. had this been another 50 miles out to sea, we would be talking about sunny skies right now. because it's so close we're picking up the cloud cover. there's the approaching cold front from the west. we'll look at the two systems. there's the counter clockwise swirl. remember the winds blow in a counter clockwise fashion around low pressure. the low is sitting there. where these lines are converging that's the cold front. there's the two systems we're watching. it's pushing off to the
