and dozen of others are injured in a tour bus crash. it happened at route 1 in bear. kenneth moten is live at the scene, kenneth what can you tell us? >> reporter: information is still coming in. we're a distance away from the scene. we were on top of this scene to see what paramedics and first responders were dealing with. first responders set up triage areas on the side of the highway. we could see paramedics helping passengers who were bloody and in shock after the tour bus they were on careened out of control and flipped. the single vehicle crashed happened around 4:00 p.m. the bus was carrying 50 people it was headed from maryland to new york. investigators say several people have been airlifted and transported by ground to a number of hospitals including christiana, and a. i. dupont

and saint francis. emergency crews are treating what they call the walking wounded. police confirm that an adult female was killed. we don't know her identity or where she is from. the tour bus does not have any markings on it. because of this massive scene as you take a live look here, traffic is almost at a standstill on route 1. there are detours set up, you can see the flashing lights around the area. traffic is a mess around the area, as investigators start their work and always paramedics continue to help the injured on that scene just around the corner from where we are right now. we're in touch with delaware state police we're gathering more information and we'll have the latest on 6abc.com and tonight on the news, kenneth moten, channel 6 "action news." >> thank four that report.

>> other news nurses at crozer-chester medical center are on strike tonight they are striking and protesting what they consider dangerously low staffing problems. >> reporter: the picket line is on going outside crozer-chester medical center. the nurses saying they are concerned about staffing levels at the hospital. as they walk on the sidewalk we've seen numerous cars and fire trucks and ambulances honking in support as they go driving by. crozer-chester's 550 nurses walked off the job at 7:00. they have been working without a contract since june 8. they say the strike is not about the money, they want more nurses working to cover patients' need. >> it's become unsafe as far as

taking care of the patients there's not enough nurses at the bed side. >> this is not something we wanted to do, but something we had to do. because they are not listening to what we tell them about the care. >> reporter: the hospital maintains staffing is fine and the real issue to cut nurses salaries due to financial challenges. >> crozer spends more on staffing than any hospital in the region. they are above national averages and in the top third. >> reporter: he said the hospital is operating in normal levels thanks to the efforts of replacement nurses would who have been hired for five days. >> all our services are open, we're open for business, we welcome anyone, we're september be new patients. and things are going smoothly. >> reporter: "action news" obtained an e-mail from the ems.

last saturday morning, police say she was with a man named jessie matthew. matthew spoke to police for about an hour left the police station driving at a high rate of speed. investigators have searched his car and awaiting the results of forensic testing.
