central detectives on charges of beating two gay men on chancellor street two weeks ago. >> i commend the central detectives, for getting to the bottom of this. >> katherine knott and har begin are charged with sexual assault and one got physical with the female in the group. >> with respect to my client, he was not the aggressor and did not initiate anything and only became involved after one of reported victims in the case punched one of young girls in the case. >> i represent a young girls that comes from a wonderful family. she comes from a law enforcement background and she played no role in this. >> the victims have been keeping

mostly quiet since the attack and the to men are urging people to be respectful in their language, if that had been the case, three young adults would not be walking into central detectives. >> it's emotionally taxing on them. they are still reliving it all. it's tough. >> and some have called for the three defendants to be charged with a hate crime but the state law does not allow for that. >> all right chad thank you. for the second time this month, philadelphia police are investigating the killing of a pregnant woman and her unborn child. the 25-year-old expectant mother was shot to death in olney overnight and now the police are looking for surveillance video of the gunman. and a 26-year-old man who

survived the attack. john rawlins has new details. >> reporter: this may be a case of crime begets another crime. one theory is that the deadly events overnight here were tied to an earlier homicide that occurred some distance away from here, and it's not sure if it's a case of revenge or falling out or something else. >> a 20 something couple were in this white car when 11 shots were called. hop, as he is known in the neighborhood has lived here for 40 years. >> we heard a whole bunch of shooting at 12:30-1:00, we didn't get up because it might come through the window. >> the woman believed to be pregnant is rushed to einstein and she dies. >> the 21-year-old woman was pronounced dead. the doctors did what they k. and they delivered the baby and

worked on the baby for over an hour. baby was pronounced dead at 2:18 a.m. her 26-year-old fiance survived. he had been wanted for questioning in an earlier homicide yesterday at broad and hunting park, that crime believed to be drug related. >> they are at einstein hospital interviewing the 26-year-old male who was shot. he is talking. >> many at this busy corner did not want to talk today. others that did did not want to be identified. this woman is alarmed by the brutality that curs in her neighborhood. >> the violence is ridiculous, i have three children myself. i'm afraid and it makes it worse. they are killing pregnant people and killing cops, they don't care. >> well, homicide detectives continue to investigate this incident and have more to say

later today. live in olney, john rawlins, channel 6 "action news." >> breaking news now, chopper 6 hd is above the 100 block of york terrace here in gloucester township, new jersey, crime tape is up and police are on the scene. we are told that it's some sort of drug deal gone wrong and police converged on the neighborhood and there are schools on lock down here in the area, they call it locked out mode, nobody is allowed to enter the schools and school remains in session and gloucester county police are on the scene and we'll gather more information and bringing to you on this newscast and online at 6abc.com. a pleasure that will send critical funds to the philadelphia school district has now been signed into law. pennsylvania governor, tom corbett signed the bill in harrisburg, it authorizes a cigarette tax of $2 a pack in the city.

it is said to provide $83 million in revenue to philadelphia schools. the house and senate approved the measure earlier this week. >> american bombers are carrying out attacks on isis targets on the syria boarder this afternoon. president obama is leading an operation to degrade and destroy the militant group. he spoke to the united nations in new york a short while ago, to consistently expose and confront isis or isol, as it lets known. >> the only language known to killers like this is force. the united states will work with a broad coalition to dismantle this network of death. >> the president says the effort to crush isis may take a while but the u.s. will not get bogged down in syria and iraq. and a u.n. resolution condemning -- is not enough. the message to the u.n. is that actions speak louder than words.

in the poconos, people are growing restless as the police continue their search for the man that is suspected of gunning down a state trooper. eric frein, allegedly opened fire outside of barracks killing one trooper and wounding another. some residents have accused of police of keeping them away from their homes for more than 24 hours, forcing them to sleep in their cars. "action news" will have live reports from the poconos today beginning at 4:00. >> one of atlantic city's failed casinos is hitting the auction block today. it is expected to be sold in new york city for pennies on the dollar. it has received multiple bids but the only one made public is the $90 million from the one in florida. it cost $2.5 billion to build.

the former ups worker that killed two of his colleagues before taking his own life in bamg bam. kerry tessny i was fired before opening fire in birmingham. he entered the billing before the others came to pick up their packages for deliveries. some protesters have returned to the streets of ferguson, missouri, they were angry about a fire that destroyed one of makeshift memorials for michael brown. he was shot by a police officer four weeks ago setting off protests around the country. the grand jury is decide first degree charges will be filed against the police officer. others caused police for being too slow to respond to the fire. and the fraudulent

meteorologist, david murphy is here and we are talking about wet weather and the afternoon should be clear. >> get your stuff done in the afternoon. stormtracker 6 live double scan shows us we are precipitation free, if you take the wider view, the rain is on the way south of the southern border of delaware for now as we take a look outside, we have chopper 6 above southern montgomery county, that is i believe arcadia university. you can kind of tell it was

looking cloudy out there. not a whole lot of sunshine being reflected by the castle there. 72 degrees in philadelphia right now, the dew point is inching up a little bit and the winds, 14 miles per hour and it's blustery at the noon hour. 71 in wilmington and 68 in allentown and decent temperatures out there. and again the clouds are getting thicker over the next several hours, future tracker 6 showing you that. one change in this model run, it wants to hold the rain off, and by 9:00 we are only seeing some rain in wildwood and dover and up around midnight it pushes closer to philadelphia. no matter when it hits, this is not really the problem, rain this evening will be on the light, nuisance side. for now lets get allentown forecast, breezy and dry and 72

is the high, and down the shore in atlantic city, you might avoid rain until later on this evening. a high of 70 this afternoon. at the shore are you looking okay. in philadelphia same story, increasing clouds and a high of 75 degrees on the breezy side with the 10 miles per hour wind and dry until later this evening. tonight it gets rainy from south to north and 60 is the overnight low in philadelphia, and a lot of spots going down to the 60 degree mark, from the evening commute, it's likely dry in most of the region, cloudy and breezy and temperatures falling from the low 70s to about 67 by 7:00, overnight things start to change, future tracker 6 showing you that heavy bands of rain pummel the region overnight. the first part of the morning rush hour we are on the air here with stormtracker 6 live double scan, we'll likely have heavy cells to show you and you can get the most accurate look at

the stuff right here with stormtracker 6 live double scan, as we get the up to date radar images that nobody else can give you. we have work to do tomorrow morning. by 9:00 most of this is off to the north and we see it die down but we are looking at a lot of rain falling, as much as to 3 inches in spots and gusty winds for the morning commute and the shore tidal flooding and higher winds and rainfall going as high as 4 inches by the coast at the morning rush hour, accuweather says the increasing clouds at night and tomorrow cloudy and rainy especially in the morning with showers tapering off later in the morning and afternoon. a high of 66, we are back in the 70s on friday and low 80s for the weekend and 79 on monday. >> all right david thank you.

wrong. and a dog that left his hunting ton valley home is back thanks to the kindness of others. chopper 6 hd is over the scene where police remain over a home. this is in gloucester township, new jersey. officials tell us that a drug deal went bad and that has left a massive manhunt in the area and the schools remain on lockdown. students remain indoors but classed continue. you can get updates on 6abc.com. a pregnant woman and her baby are dead and a man is in critical condition, after they were shot in a similar crime to two weeks ago. john rawlins live now with the latest. >> reporter: folks around here, particularly long time residents

overturned on route 1 to route 13 in newcastle on sunday. they say that he was speeding and lost control of the bus when it hit a curve, two women were killed and dozens more were injured. in a speech at the united nations this morning, president barack obama says the world is at a cross roads between war and peace, he is leading an initiative to defeat what he called a center of death. >> hi there sara, meeting with world leaders discussing all the major crisis from ebola to climate change and the main focus is islamic terror. in his speech today. president obama asked global leaders to reaffirm their initiative to peace.

pack, the house gave it the go ahead on monday. the school district hopes that it will pump $83 million in revenue into public schools over the next year. turning to the forecast, nice now but accuweather is tracking heavy rain for later on tonight. looking at sky 6 hd, a calm picture looking at penn's landing, the storm system brings a lots of rain and winds as well. meteorologist, david murphy, is over at the "action news" big board with more on what to expect. >> the rain is not here but the cloud cover is, we see that growing thicker and the rain is farther to the south ahead of an area of low pressure moving off the carolina coastline, still to the south of the southern tier of delaware, it won't be that much longer before it pushes up to rehoboth and lewes, i can see that happening at noon.

cape may county picking up some of that as well. here is the latest run. the tier of cape may county clipped by light rain as we push into the nighttime, philadelphia may or may not pick up early rain drops by then but it looks likely we see heavier showers in south jersey and delaware and then all of is this gets heavy overnight and by the time we get to 4:30 in the morning i'll be back on air with radar, we'll show you a lot of heavy rain in all likelihood. this is likely to last through a good portion of the rush hour. some of the latest model projections rolling in for you. this is in philadelphia, some models have over 2 inches and others hold it to an inch or some 2.3 inches. if you are down the shore, some areas could get 3 to 4 inches.

one of the three men arrested was dressed in navy fas eels and carrying an expired navy i.d. two utah teens abducted in the middle of the night and held captive for a day. they managed to break free and make a run for it. alicia vitarelli is live with this story. >> reporter: police in utah are still looking for the abduct teres and newly released 911 calls show the dramatic run for safety. the teenage girl making the call was so hysterical, at first 911 operator didn't understand what she was saying. >> someone took you in his car? >> 16 and 17-year-old girls kidnapped and held for 19 hours, today bountiful police are still looking for suspects.

the girls told police they snuck out of a sleepover at 2:00 a.m. trying to have some fun, they were approached by a red suv and two men and a woman were inside and offered them a ride and they declined and they were forced in by knife point. >> i could tell she was traumatized. >> the girls arms were duct taped. >> when they would move or whimper they would punch them and my daughter was cut in multiple places. >> the car was stopped and they managed to break free and made a run for it. >> one girl broke through the restraints and freed the other girl. >> tammy morrison was sitting at a red light when the girls ran up to her window. >> one had duct tape around her neck and around her mouth. >> those girls used tammy's phone to make the 911 call that was just released.
