overnight. as the legal process plays out, we're learning about one member of the trio and the troubling signs in her past, kenneth moten explains. >> reporter: all three are accused of a violent attack on two gay men. but it is 24-year-old catherine dplot who is getting -- knott who is getting attention. >> she comes from a wonderful family. she has a law enforcement background in her family. >> reporter: knott's attorney is talking about carl knott. he was a lieutenant in abington township when his daughter tweeted about special treatment from her dad. abington police chief bill which he said the woman was on a legitimate ride along, but the rest was false, as for the other tweets they appear not to be true. >> there is no allegation

against any member of this police department that goes unresearched, we research it, because we value the reputation of our police department. >> reporter: kelly said he spoke with other officers and chief knott an officer he has known for 30 years. >> he is an outstanding individual i respected him tremendously. >> reporter: there's more trouble for katherine knott who works as an er tech at lansdale hospital. abington health suspended knott and said it is investigating. as for that attack. attorneys for the suspect said it wasn't gay bashing, but a mutual confrontation. >> it escalated after one of the purported victims struck the young girl on the street. >> reporter: the borough administrator said on the advice of legal counsel no comment. kenneth moten channel 6 "action

news." >> two people remain in the hospital after a shootout that killed a man. this all happened in front of a school. >> no, no. >> that was the frightens reaction of parents who came running to the pan american charter school in north philadelphia yesterday afternoon. a driver in a car got into a shootout by someone on the sidewalk. the driver ended up dead. police don't know what touched off the shootout. >> gun charges against a south philadelphia mother of two may be formally dropped today or the atlantic prosecutor may ask allen to enter a pretrial prevention program. she drove with into new jersey with a legal gun.
