department is on the hundred after a police officer is shot in his marked car. >> and a robber uses an unusual weapon to rob a dunkin' donuts store clerk. and the last person to see hannah graham university of virginia student alive. tonight he is in jail. and an officer sitsing in a police cruiser had no idea how close he came to being killed. it's not clear where that gunshot camerom or if the officer was the intended target. nora muchanic is outside now with the story. you spoke with that officer today? >> reporter: i did indeed monica and i have to tell you he is calm considering how close a call this was. a number of agencies are working this investigation, trying to locate the person possible for taking pot shots at the police

car in the middle of the day. this is the 33-year-old pemberton police officer, that was in his cruiser when two shots rang out and one hit the roof of the vehicle, you can see where it scraped the paint and hit the metal. police asked that we not identify the officer, who is married with a 7-year-old clild. >> that could have been my last day and that made me angry because i have family and they could have possibly never seen me again. >> police were parked around this abandoned house and one bullet landed in a house across the street 100 yard as way and luckily nobody was home at the time. >> pemberton police don't yet know the motive for the shooting and they executed a search warrant at the home of a possible suspect but no arrests are made. >> we have different angles and

multiple suspects and multiple tips, we are trying to felter through the information. >>ileter through the information. >> there is a reward leading to the arrest and conviction for whoever did this. >> they are considered to the dangers of flying bullets to police and others. >> i am nervous for all of us and the kids out here. it's nerve-racking. >> if they do it to them they'll do it to anybody. anybody. that is somebody that don't care about nothing. they have no no respect for nothing. >> the officer involved was back on the street working today again a reward is offered at $20,000 reward for anyone that has information that leads to the arrest of the shooter. call the sheriff's office here

in pemberton pd. philadelphia police are looking for a thief that threatened a dunkin' donuts clerk with a needle in center city. this is surveillance video from 8th and chestnut. the suspect pretended he would order but instead went around the corner and pulled out a hypodermic need and grabbed the clerk's arm and the suspect managed to get the cash register open himself and fortunately he ran and nobody was hurt. a clever thief burglarized a store twice last night. the crook is shown breaking the window at the 7300 block of frankford avenue, he took some items and ran off and comes back 35 minutes later wearing different clothes, he climbed into the store and took different items, if you recognize this man please contact please. there is new rules coming to the

smoother after a crash this morning that caused a lot of delays, it shows the backup at mcdade boulevard and providence, the car carrying tractor trailer spn out of control and flipped. the driver was not hit. a man is fighting for his life after being shot twice in the tioga section. the 39-year-old man was hit twice in the right leg and was rushed to temple university hospital in critical condition. a south philadelphia mother that carried her legal gun into south jersey, will not spend time in jail. instead shirleen allen will spend time in a preintervention program. the law has changed making certain exceptions for first time offenders.

and now the search for missing virginia student, hannah graham, jesse matthew was arrested in texas last night. authorities in virginia are now in the process of bringing him back where he is charged with abduction with intent to defile. they have no idea where the 18-year-old student is. >> people here need to look for hannah graham, and eyes open for hannah graham. one way or the other that is what we promise to do. >> sources close to the investigation, are concerned that matthew may be trying to flee to mexico because he was arrested seven hours from the border. now the president is promising aid for west africa. the president announced 3,000

a local nurse is recognized for saving the life of a dying man. mary beth malarky was given a certificate from her employer, she is a registered nurse from chadds ford. she witnessed a bus drive collapse and stop breathing, she did cpr and used a defibrillator until paramedics arrived. >> he needed cpr and we initiated that and everything worked out and he is doing okay now. >> the bus driver, tim ballentine is inspected to make

couple was attacked allegedly for their sexual orientation. three people were arrested for the crime but the suspects will not be charged with a hate crime. vernon odom was live in center city tonight where there is a rally calling attention to this issue. >> the folks at the rally marked a steady stream of rain, but local activists and politicians and the police brass want action pronto by harrisburg, the voices were loud today. a loud rally in love park to p support the two gay men. they want passage of hate crime legislation at the state level. there is no hate crime protection for gays in the city of philadelphia or in the state of pennsylvania.
