we'll explain why throughout the broadcast. let's go in for karen rogers the broadcast. >> good morning. we have lots of clouds out there right now and a few spotty showers. we're looking at storm tracker 6 live double scan and we can see not a lot of rain. a little sprinkle near reading. we have one here moving just towards surf city and atlantic city right now. so, just watching for a spotty shower and lots of clouds. temperatures not too bad. 58 degrees in philadelphia, 62 in pottstown. it's 59 in saint davids and kennett square, 63 right now in chester and looking at some of the suburbs in new jersey where it's 61 in hammonton, 62 in buena and 62 right now in dover, delaware. as we look at the day ahead we're going see lots of clouds, a little bit of sunshine here or there, not as pretty as yesterday, not a lot of rain, just a spotty shower in a few spots. enough to make it feel unsettled today. 73 degrees for your high temperature. temperatures actually right about where they should be for this day. we'll see if we can try to

brighten things up in that seven-day forecast coming up in a few minutes. matt. >> thank you karen. a multi alarm fire is still burning in atlantic city right now. it already has damaged several buildings just a few blocks from the resort town's boardwalk. >> katherine scott is live on the scene with the breaking details. katherine. >> reporter: erin, i just wantd to start out by saying that no one was injured in all of this. everyone was able to get out safely. the red cross is assisting 17 people right now and you can see the fire crews are still at work here on atlantic avenue. we're still seeing some flames coming out the top of that building. it was around 11:15 last night when the fire broke out here on the 1100 block of atlantic in atlantic city. firefighters were on scene in two minutes. their firehouse is right down the road. when they arrived around 10 people had already gotten out. no one was trapped inside. officials say the fire started in the front of a business called ac alterations and that

fire spread fast to scores of nearby businesses and upstairs apartments. it affected four buildings. firefighters were met with challenges overnight. there were multiple collapses and the wind propelled the flame. >> right now the wind is a factor. keeps pushing this thing from the burned areas of the fire to the unburned. it's not good for us. >> reporter: and back here live on atlantic off which remains closed for this fire activity, we can still see flames coming out the top of this building. firefighters are working on that. and if you take a look down at some of the wreckage here, you can see that windows have been blown out. there's debris on the sidewalk. a lot of damage here but again, even though four building were affected and 17 people are being assisted by the red cross, we have heard that no one has been injured. we're live in atlantic city, katherine scott, channel6 "action news." >> katherine thanks. keep us posted.

investigators say the deadly shooting at a pennsylvania state trooper at a shooting range appears to be a tragic accident. "action news" was there for the procession of flag draped coffin and trooper david kedra as it left temple university hospital last night. the 26-year-old was shot at the training facility in plymouth township yesterday afternoon. investigators say an instructor shot trooper kedra in the chest during an accident during a training session. so far police have not released the name of the instructor. >> new this morning, a man has been stabbed to death inside an east mount airy home and another man who lives in the home told police he knows the killer. the action cam outside the home on the 200 block of east philomena street. the witness told police that the 33-year-old man broke through a basement window to get to the witness' second floor bedroom. the witness said the 54-year-old homeowner saw the suspect and confronted him. that's when the suspect stabbed the homeowner in the

neck and back and then ran off. officers found a trail of blood from the basement window to the second floor, then outside the house and down the street but so far there are no arrests. also new this morning, investigators say a philadelphia police officer opened fire on a suspect late last night. the incident happened on the 5700 block of crittendon street. police say officers were running after two armed suspects when one of the suspects turned towards the officers and pointed a gun at them. one of the officers then fired his gun at gunman apparently missing him. the suspect managed to run off a swat team and canine units are looking for them. >> more developing news. the nation's top doctors are scrambling this morning to deal with the first diagnosed case of ebola in the united states. a man traveling from west africa who arrived in texas 11 days ago is now in strict isolation inside a hospital in dallas. abc's elizabeth hur filed this report from texas. >> reporter: it was the news

america has been dreading. >> that an individual traveling from liberia has been diagnosed with ebola in the united states. >> reporter: the centers for disease control confirming the first case of ebola in the u.s., a patient who recently traveled from liberia to dallas is sick with the disease. the unidentified man is critically ill and has been isolated at texas health presbyterian hospital in dallas since sunday. he began feeling sick four or five days after arriving in the u.s. >> the likelihood for this individual to have spread it on an airplane are basically zero. he had no symptoms while he was traveling. >> reporter: the head of the cdc is optimistic they will control ebola from spreading. >> the bottom line here is that i have no doubt that we will control this importation or this case of ebola so that

it does not spread widely in this can can country. >> reporter: health authorities have begun tracking down family and friends who may have had close contact with the patient and could be at risk of contracting the virus. >> they'll follow them for 21 days. if any of them develop a fever they'll go in isolation and get tester. >> reporter: this is the largest ebola out break ever with more than 3,000 people across africa having died so far. president obama has sent in the u.s. military to help. in the meantime, american troops have broken ground for a field hospital and mobile ebola lab should be up and running in liberia next week. here in dallas city officials say they have activated their emergency operation center noting the city is on what they call high readiness. elizabeth hur, abc news, dallas. >> our coverage of the ebola out break continues on 6abc.com. head there now to read a list of the seven things you should

>> rain in some spots right now. >> yeah, some spotty showers around and it stays unsettled like that through the day. not all day but here or there maybe a sprinkle. let's take a look at storm tracker 6 live double scan, your best look at any of the sprinkles in and around the region and you can see right now we're not talking about a lot of rain. it's just a sprinkle here or there. we're seeing a little bit near reading right now so watch for that as you're headed out early. near cape may just off the coastline currently right now and near toms river as well, so something to watch early on this morning. let's take a little bit of a closer look right now and you can see that just a few areas getting a little bit of drizzle. let's go outside and show you what it looks like at sky 6

looking live and we see some low clouds on sky 6 above the center city skyline as you're headed out early this morning and not terribly damp, that's for sure. the current temperature is 64 degrees. the dewpoint is 59. the winds out of the north-northwest, they're pretty light at 8 miles an hour and that pressure 29.97 and we're putting on our always on seven day on the side of the screen. satellite 6 and action radar showing we're following this line of thundershowers that broke apart as they reached out area. now we're left with a few spotty showers but it's going to stay a bit unsettled through the day today and future tracker 6 showing this morning at 9:30, lots of clouds, maybe a sprinkle here or there. that really isn't enough to need the umbrella for the most part. at 4:00 p.m. we can see just a little sprinkle popping up and lots of clouds so staying with lots of clouds today and just a little bit unsettled through the day because of this area of low pressure that's kind of drifting down to our south. now, mostly cloudy skies, close enough that we could see a spotty shower here or there.

a high today of 73 degrees. let's look right now at tomorrow and we can see it doesn't get quite as bright as we had hoped. that high pressure doesn't really build in just yet so we're dealing with early clouds tomorrow, some afternoon sunshine and a high of 72 degrees. let's take a look at that exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. lots of clouds today. a high of 73 degrees with a few sprinkles around. breaks of sun tomorrow for the union and 72. looking at least a little bit better and a bit brighter in the afternoon. friday sunshine fades behind increasing clouds later in the day a high of 73 and at this point friday stays drive. it had looked like that rain starts friday night. it now looks like the rain holds off until about midnight or so on friday but what that means, it's going last a little longer on saturday. so, saturday you wake up, it will be raining and in many areas it might not clear until the afternoon hours. 68 degrees for your high on saturday. on sunday, it's breezy and cool, certainly football weather, 64 degrees for your high and you factor in a cool

no one has been arrested for this holdup. >> now for your first look at business. the bankruptcy auction of atlantic city's revel casino continued well into the morning and at this hour, it still hasn't ended. so far canadian firm brookfield asset management submitted the high bid of $110 million but the offer must be accepted by 6:00 a.m. brookfield owns casinos in las vegas and the bahamas. florida developer glen straub is still in the running, too, battling to try to buy the $2.4 billion casino for even more of a discounter so we'll let you know what happens. stocks slid again on the final trading day of september. futures right now are mixed. researchers at mit and tufts university created an app that teaches basic computer programming to kindergartners. children as young as five can use the app to create their own interactive stories and games and they don't even have to know how to read. the free app is called scratch

>> 4:50. now let's take a look at the roads. this is delaware county, i-95 by the commodore barry bridge. we're dealing with paving work again this morning in the southbound lanes. only the left lane is opened to traffic coming south south of ridley park. construction led to big delays yesterday morning so we'll be watching it closely in the coming hour. switching to the schuylkill expressway at spring garden street, overnight construction is gone as you can see from that area. all lanes are opened between south philadelphia and king of prussia and while the schuylkill remains dry, some roads could be damp this morning, so you may want to give yourself just a few extra minutes, matt. >> all right, erin, thank you. another spot that is dry is chicago illinois and yet we still have some cancellations this morning at its largest airport o'hare international.

given the fact there's really no weather going on we can only assume it's related to that fire back on friday and they're still trying to recover from it. 78 cancellations at o'hare international. that's about 5 percent of the flight load at this point. if you're flying out of chicago, might want to expect some possible delays because they're still trying to recover from this. hopefully they'll get things back together soon. up here in the northeast, could see some rain and that includes philadelphia, up to boston, new york city, also d.c. could see some rain. not really expecting many travel-related delays. that really big thunder boomer going on in florida, particularly miami later on today and that could cause a delay in flights but early on looks good. same thing in houston although that could be an all day situation with thundershowers. detroit going to see some fog so detroit metro could see delays in the morning. minneapolis thunder boomers, denver -- why do i call them thunder boomers, they're thundershowers. also in san francisco the low cloud cover, it's not necessarily fog but it should lift in the afternoon so things look good in the
