the coastline and that's the way it's going to be where most of the day is dry but we could get a passing sprinkle. lots of clouds, that line of storms we have been tracking kind of fell apart as it headed towards our area so as expected today, just a sprinkle or two around. how about those temperatures. 59 degrees in allentown, little cool. 61 in wilmington, not feeling too bad in the city at 64. 61 degrees right now in millville, new jersey. here's how your day is going to unfold. by 9:00 a.m., mostly cloudy skies and 67. by noon, 70. we could see a sprinkle at any point. by 3:00 p.m., 73, mostly cloudy skies. and by 6:00 p.m., 70 degrees coming down from your high of 73 but we're going to be talking much cooler temperatures for the weekend. so, details and a big change coming up in that seven-day forecast in just a minute, matt. >> all right, karen. another sorter of dismal start to the morning commute on 95 in delaware county thanks to overnight construction, paving work that once again is blocking two lanes southbound between the blue route and the commodore barry bridge.

so, just like yesterday morning, just one lane is squeezing by as you come down from the airport and we are already seeing substantial delays from ridley park on down to the exit for the commodore barry bridge as you head south toward the delaware state line. at this point i would not head for 95 southboundly i would use local roads like maybe 291, 13, baltimore pike, some of those alternates or you could head into new jersey and use 295 southbound but 95 southbound not the spot in which to be once again this morning. in new jersey elsewhere you've got several issues to start off the wednesday morning commute. a crash in lindenwold involving a motorcycle happened overnight close to their middle school along white horse avenue at the white horse pike. on the eastbound side of the white horse pike they have the right lane blocked and instead of white horse avenue i would head for atlantic avenue or maybe gibbsboro road as alternates. a new crash in berlin blocking cross keys road at watson town-new freedom road. stick with taunton as an alternate. a house fire overnight in atco on jackson avenue near atco

avenue. that's under control but the fire location remains out there in atlantic city along atlantic avenue near pennsylvania avenue. instead of those, i'd stick with pacific and north carolina as alternates and matt i know you have more details on what's unfolding in ac. >> we're going to get into that right now, thank you, matt. this is our breaking news story. the huge fire that broke out in atlantic city damaging several buildings near the boardwalk. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live near the fire scene where winds along the coastline have been problem, right, katherine? >> reporter: that's right, matt. they really have been gusty and they have been posing problems for firefighters throughout the night, eight hours after this fire started, we can still see flames shooting from the top of this building and firefighters have been lasting water at all different angles. there's been a lot of progress here but still work left to do. no one was injured in all of this. everyone got out safely but the red cross is assisting 17 people. this fire broke out on the 1100 block of atlantic of a around 10 o'clock last night here in atlantic city and you

can see fierce flames shooting from the windows. firefighters were on the scene in two minutes and when they arrived around 10 people had already gotten out. no one was trapped inside. officials say the fire started in the front of a business called ac alterations and it spread quickly tearing through nearby businesses and the upstairs apartments affecting four buildings. 17 people are being assisted by the red cross. six of them are children. firefighters established a collapse zone and indeed there were multiple collapses as crews battled these flames. >> four fire buildings right now. we have a collapse in 1112, we have a second floor collapse in 1112, seconds floor collapse 1114. 1118 the rear walls about ready to go. >> reporter: and back here live on atlantic avenue which is still closed for this fire activity you can see debris on the sidewalk. sounds like they're doing some work inside the building as well, probably cutting away to try to get to some of the

pockets of fire that still remain in this building, burned out windows, a lot of damage but again, even with all this damage, we have been told by officials that no one was injured, no firefighters in all those collapses and no civilians. live in atlantic city, katherine scotts channel6 "action news." >> good news. thanks so much katherine. for the second time in about three weeks pennsylvania state police troopers are mourning the death of one of their own. this time the trooper is the victim of an apparent accidental shooting. trooper david kedra's family walked behind his coffin last night as it left temple university hospital. an honor guard of police motorcycles then escorted the hearse. investigators say yesterday afternoon a police instructor shot the 26-year-old by accident during a training session at the montgomery county public safety training facility in plymouth township. the instructor's name has not been released. there's been a break in the search for eric frein in the form of two pipe bombs. pennsylvania state police recovered the working explosives with a pile of

discarded items. hundreds of law enforcement officers are still on frein's trail in monroe and pike counties. investigators say there has been one credible sighting of the accused cop killer since monday. the search continues, the focus in a five square mile area near his parents' home. we'll continue to follow the manhunt for eric frein on 6abc.com and alert you to any new developments. we'll also bring you live updates from the pennsylvania state police as they happen. new at 6:00 a teacher's aide in berks county lab arrested and suspended without pay for a scary ride through a school parking lot. police suspect 48-year-old patricia casalito of driving drunk. officers say she hit construction equipment and jumped two curbs outside the elementary center on monday morning am she finally crashed into a parked car, then fell asleep at the wheel. she already faces separate charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct from the summer.

>> we are awaiting word any moment on who won the bidding for the $2.4 billion revel hotel and casino in atlantic city. whoever wop the auction will be getting a huge discount. stacey delikat is filling in for maribel aber and is following this story live at the nasdaq in times square. >> reporter: the bidding war continues this morning. the top bid as of midnight was for $110 million from brookfield u.s. holdings. now brookfield is battling florida developer glen straub for ownership of the casino. the revel of course as we have been saying cost $2.4 billion to build so both bidders are trying to win the casino for pennies on the dollar and we should find out the outcome of that bidding war soon. speaking of casinos the gambling industry in the u.s. employed 1.7 million people last year. this according to a study from the american gaming association. the industry was responsible for an economic impact of

tracker 6 live double scan around the region right now you can see most of the area is dry. we've got a couple sprinkles off the coastline near atlantic city. going in a little closer here we're seeing just a passing shower route 100 that will be moving into quakertown before you know it. so, look for there as you're headed out and a little sprinkle near doylestown. not a big deal. let's head outside and show you what it looks like right now. sky 6 looking live, we're looking down the shore in atlantic city where katherine scott has been reporting on some gusty winds. we'll slow you some of that in a second. but temperatures 64 degrees, the dewpoint is 58, the winds out of the north-northeast at 8 miles an hour in philadelphia and that pressure just under 30-inches and we're bringing on our always on seven day so you can keep an eye on that seven-day forecast as well. i want to show you the wind speeds. 8 miles in philadelphia, nine millville, 10 miles in atlantic city international at the airport which is in pomona. right along the coastline where katherine scott has been reporting on that fire they've got gusty winds coming in right off the shore and that's

why that has been such a problem. satellite 6 and action radar showing lots of clouds in place and you can see this line of storms that went from western pennsylvania, central pennsylvania then kind of broke apart as it hit our area. we're left with spotty showers. some showers here in d.c. may hit some of our southern zones but it is going to be the kind of day with lots of clouds maybe a passing shower here or there but it's really not much. future tracker 6 showing that at 10:30 in the morning we have the clouds in place for sure and maybe some sprinkles here or there starting to pop up. maybe there's a quick shower in one or two spots. many areas stay dry. at 6:30 there could be a sprinkle here or there but not any significant amount of rain that's for sure. looking at the day ahead, by 8:00 a.m., 66 degrees, lots of clouds, maybe a peek of sunshine. a sprinkle at any point. by 11:00 a.m., 69. by 2:00 p.m., 73 and that's our high for today. and by 5:00 p.m., coming down from that at about 71 degrees. here's a look at your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast t lots of clouds.

>> ♪ >> welcome back. it is 6:14 now. you are takeing a live look through sky 6 hd at the center city skyline and it is the first day of october. and the weather is starting to make that transition. starting to feel a little chilly out there in the early morning hours. >> indeed. so what's the jam up here matt? what you got. >> oh man i'll tell you october is starting like september ended with big construction delays on might be southbound. the bad news is the construction is still not gone this is the southbound side between the blue route and the commodore barry bridge. you still have just the one left lane getting by as they continue the paving work headed down toward the delaware state line. so, the two right lanes remain out of commission and this is not doing good things for the speeds coming down from 420, you see you're moving in the 20's and in the teens and in the single digits. as you head towards that work zone by the commodore barry bridge. also really jamming things up on the southbound side of the blue route, 476 where speeds

are in the teens coming down from baltimore pike. so, let's talk alternates to 95. you can stay local through chester on 291, maybe use 13 as a possible alternate. baltimore pike up to the north would work. depending where you're going maybe work your way over into new jersey and use 295 southbound which at this point in nice and clear. on the big picture, becoming less clear on 95 elsewhere. 30's are your speeds near cottman avenue on the southbound side. then you're in the 20's as you travel south from the betsy ross bridge into girard. so far not so bad over on the schuylkill expressway. but we've got a new problem in bellmawr on the ramp from 295 northbound to the black horse pike, a broken down truck is partially blocking that ramp. luckily the construction that was giving us delays in that neck of the woods is out of there now so less of an issue and in lindenwold our motorcycle crash along the white horse pike at white horse avenue has also cleared but in berlin cross keys road is shut down because of a crash. maybe stake with taunton road as your alternate around that. matt. >> thank you, matt. a delaware toddler who accidentally shot himself in

the head remains in critical condition this morning. the action cam was where it happened. the unit block of cliffside court in claymont. police and rescue workers rushed to the house yesterday morning after getting a report that a two-year-old had found a loaded gun and somehow pulled the trigger. the little boy's brother was heading back to the hospital last night when our john rawlins asked him about the gun. >> reporter: anybody know where the gun came from? >> i mean, i don't -- i don't really want to talk about that right now, but everything is -- he's going to be all right, that's all i know about now. >> police have not determined who owns the gun or where the child found it. >> the nation's top doctors are scrambling to deal with the first diagnosed case of ebola in the united states. a man traveling from the west african country of liberia who arrived in texas 11 days ago is now in strict isolation inside a dallas hospital. he is in critical condition. the head of the cdc is

a little sprinkle near quakertown, hammonton, atlantic city in new jersey. most of the area dry today. so, we're going to see lots of clouds today. maybe a passing shower here or there. temperatures aren't too bad. we dipped to the 50's in the suburbs in the northwest, 58 in quakertown and coatesville, 63 in center city. 61 degrees right now browns mills, 62 in dover, delaware. along the coastline you're about 62, 63 degrees. fog is an issue in the northwest suburbs once again. we're down to a mile visibility in lancaster, 1.7 in reading. allentown not bad at 5-mile visibility and no impact right now on philadelphia. we can see 4-mile visibility just popped up right now in atlantic city airport so something to watch there as well. let's take a look at your travel forecast. reporting delays here. looking good so far in philadelphia and boston, no problems, chicago no delays at o'hare. orlando, atlanta, new york, new york city good to go for now. matt and erin. >> thanks karen. in health check rutgers university researchers have

reopened. paving crews are out of the way but it's going to take some time for these delays to thin out. meanwhile we have a new problem cropping up in bellmawr camden county a vehicle fire blocking the ramp from the northbound side of 295 to the northbound side of the 42 freeway. speeds already starting to slow there as well. as you come north on 295, if brewer trying to get to 42 i'd bail at 45, run that up to 130 and from there you can get to 42. luckily our disabled truck on the ramp from 295 northbound to the black horse pike has cleared but we still have that crash in berlin blocking cross keys road this morning. head for taunton road instead. still dealing with the massive fire in atlantic city. centered around the intersection of atlantic avenue and pennsylvania avenue, maybe stick with pacific avenue and north carolina avenue as some alternates. matt, i know you have more details on what's going on there in ac. >> it is our breaking news. thank you matt. that fire in atlantic city that first broke out more than seven hours ago is still burning and the high winds along the coast have not been helping. katherine scott is live along atlantic avenue with the latest. katherine. >> reporter: well, matt, no one was injured in all of this. everyone was able to get out safely but there's a lost damage here. 17 people are being assisted by the red cross and throughout the morning we keep seeing these flareups. wind gusts have been causing problems for firefighters but they do seem to be making progress. you can still see they're blasting water at thisly site but we haven't seen the flames shooting from the top of the building in the last 10 minutes or so like we had throughout the morning. it was around 10 o'clock last night when the fire broke out on the 1100 block of atlantic of a here in atlantic city. firefighters were on scene in two minutes. the firehouse is right down the street. and when they arrived around nd people had already gotten out on their only officials say the fire started in the front of a business called ac alterations. the flames tour through nearby businesses in the upstairs apartment. four buildings were affected. firefighters were met with challenges here overnight. several floors collapsed, as did a fire wall and the wind

propelled the flames. >> right now wind is a fantastic it keeps pushing this thing from the burned areas of the fire to the unburned which is not good for us. >> reporter: and back here live you can see fire crews are still blasting water over top of this site trying extinguish. there are blown out windows, there's debris everywhere. again, 17 people being assisted by the red cross at this time. as to the cause of this fire, fire crews still haven't started that investigation. they don't know the cause. they're still working to extinguish the flames and then they'll get the investigation. live in atlantic city, katherine scott channel6 "action news." >> thanks so much katherine. new this morning, a key witness helped philadelphia police make a quick arrest in a deadly stabbing. officers arrested the 33-year-old suspect who returned to the scene. the whole thing happened inside a home on the 200 block of east philomena street in

mount airy. the witness was able to identify the stabber who reportedly killed the 54-year-old owner of the home overnight. investigators continue to sort out the details of the deadly shooting of a pennsylvania state trooper. a motorcade delivered the body of david kedra to the medical examiner's office last night. the 26-year-old trooper was participating in an exercise at the montgomery county public safety training campus when an instructor reportedly shot and killed him by accident. the instructor's name has not been released. kedra was a two-year member of the force stationed at the skippack barracks. >> a man who recently flew to the united states from the west african country of liberia has become the first diagnosed case of ebola in the united states. the man is in critical condition and in isolation at a dallas hospital. he did not have any symptoms of the disease when he first flew from africa. and officials say that is good news for anyone who came into

contact with him at that time. >> the likelihood for this individual to have spread it on an airplane are basically zero. he had no symptoms while he was traveling. >> the head of the centers for disease control is optimistic that doctors will be able to prevent an ebola outbreak in the united states. >> 6:36 now. happening today, mayor michael nutter will sign off on a measure to relax marijuana laws in philadelphia. come october 20th, anyone caught with an ounce of pot or less will be fined $25 instead of being arrested. using the drug in public will get violators an additional $100 fine or community service. cigarettes now cost two dollars more a pack in philadelphia. the bill that governor corbett signed last week went into effect at midnight. the tax is expected to raise about $83 million for the city's public schools. >> harder and harder to find rain out there this morning, right.

in allentown. the only problem right now in lancaster. other places looking a lot better with the fog. satellite 6 and action radar showing lots of clouds in place and a couple sprinkles. here you see that line that affected western and central pa. it kind of broke apart as it headed near our area. we still have showers in washington that could clip our southern zones but i think for the most part it's just a passing sprinkle in one or two spots. so, if if you're in allentown today you'll see lots of clouds, 72 degrees. maybe a brief shower. and it will be a little cooler at the coastline. right now the winds at atlantic city international about 10 miles an hour but i was checking some of the buoy data's and seeing about 20 miles an hour winds offer the coast and that's why katherine scott has been talking about the problems they're having there if you're right on the beach in atlantic city. otherwise mostly cloudy skies, you already saw a few showers in atlantic city. you'll see a spotty shower again here or there as you're headed out. let's check that forecast for you for the city. lots of clouds, a spotty shower, 73 degrees for your high as we break that apart through the day, you can see by 8:00 a.m., 66.

>> ♪ >> good morning everyone. a bit gloomy here as we take a live look at center city philadelphia. 63 degrees, getting up to 73 and you could see some rain but very spotty today. >> and we're going to head over to matt pelman and he'll let you know what you can see when you head out on the roads this morning. >> not looking pretty as we head outside in delaware county. if i'm ready for this paving work to wrap up i can only imagine how ready the drivers are in delaware county for it to end. this is 95 southbound side. they've been doing the resurfacing work here by the blue route and it had been running late in the morning. we've been seeing huge delays. the crews, there you see them with their flashing lights on right by the interchange with the blue route, they just picked up the cones so just reopened the southbound lanes headed down towards the commodore barry bridge and the delaware state line. a big delay as you come south of 420 through that point at the blue route. a lot of speeds there just in the teens and those delays of course have spilled back onto

the blue route 476 itself now jammed southbound from past broomall straight on down to 95 with speeds just in the teens this morning. so, it's going to start to brake up now that the lanes are opened but it's takenning a little time. we are still definitely seeing those delays. and delays formed elsewhere on 95 in the northeast. southbound by cottman again from bridge street on into girard. schuylkill slow now as well westbound side by city avenue, just 13 miles per hour. have a new issue out on the montgomery county-berks county border in boyertown. it's a crash that brought down a pole along reading avenue at second avenue. maybe stick with philadelphia avenue, 73 as an alternate and the issues continue if bellmawr, camden county with the vehicle fire that's blocking the ramp from the northbound side of 295 to the northbound side of the 42 freeway. giving us speeds in the teens there as well. so, coming north on 295, if you're trying to get to 42 i'd bail at 130 or 45 and then take 130 up to the northbound lanes toward the walt whitman bridge. erin.
