good afternoon in the news this noon, a home invasion terrorizes a local family, the important evidence that the suspects left behind. also, two female teachers under arrest. their relationship with students. and more than 100 people in texas are being monitored for ebola symptoms. thomas duncan carried the virus from brussels to dallas, the trip took him on three flights on two different airlines. >> reporter: good afternoon, overnight we heard from thomas duncan's nephew, he said that duncan prayed with his family on the phone from his room in the

hospital, this as relatives continue to pray that duncan pulls through. thomas eric duncan, a father and former chauffeur from liberia, remains in serious condition, this as hospital officials in texas continue to face tough questions after confirming that the sick patient was given antibiotics and turned away on his first visit to the er even though he told the nurse he had come from the ebola stricken liberia. >> that information was not fully communicated throughout the whole team. and now they want to talk to as many as 100 people that may have had contact with duncan. only duncan's family members are being ordered to stay home, with no investors for 21 days while

a villanova director that headed security for comcast, he will head the secret service after julia pierson stepped down after security breaches with the president and the white house. police in delaware county are searching for four men that forced their way into a home and terrorized a family at gun point on the 300 block of lafayette avenue at 10:00 p.m. all the suspects remain at large this noon and investigators are working with an important clue that was apparently left behind. eva? >> a group of four armed men ransacked a home here on lafayette avenue. after they left, one of them dropped a sneaker and police are hoping that shoe will give them evidence to find the guy that is being dubbed the cinderella bandit. >> that house is targeted for a

reason i don't know. four masked men broke into a home at collingdale at 10:20 last night. the men got in through a back door of an alley, where the three were sleeping. >> one had what appeared to be a sawed off shotgun and demanded to know where the money was and the victim said there is no money here, to his knowledge. >> the group held the husband and wife and two adult sons in the basement after they ransacked the bedrooms and house, and took $300 and jewelry and watches and high end sneakers. >> they went into the train station and one of the suspects dropped a sneaker, the other key help for police. >> we are finding a lot of people have cameras on their house, it's amazing how many people have cameras. >> now, police plan to look at

air balloon touched down in a parking lot after it ran into trouble in warrington township. people saw it flying low and feared it would crash and began calling police, the pilot was able to touch down off of easton road. nobody was hurt. philadelphia unveiled two major development projects this morning. the first one the $230 million east market transforming a, officials broke ground on an area bound by chestnut and 11th and 12th streets it will feature apartments, retail, and restaurants. today was the first time the public could step foot on the highly anticipated schuylkill banks boardwalk. it expands the river trail from locust to south street an lowed people to run, walk and ride over the water, the boardwalk took nearly two and a half years

weather situation with the new woibsz 6abc.com, visit 6abc.com/weather, for the radar and hourly radar. well, officials in north new jersey are investigating an accident that killed two landscapers, the men became trapped in a large hole in boomton, new jersey. the second man was killed trying to save him. part of i-95 was closed after a tanker truck caught on fire, state police responded to the fire in the northbound lanes of i-95 at 3:45 this morning. crews were able to extinguish the flames in 45 minutes. no word on what caused the fire, no one was hurt. firefighters battled flames at a school building just after 1:00 this morning on west

the death of a high school football player is under investigation into new york. he collided with a player during a varsity game last night. he collapsed on the field and was rushed to the hospital where he later died. they called the junior a great individual that excelled academically as well. there is accusations with to high school teachers in louisiana, they are accused of having sex with the same 16-year-old male student at the same time, the alleged incident happened after a football game last month. and other students claim it was going on for some time.

now, the latest on ebola in the united states. authorities are monitoring at least is hundred people that may have come in connect with a man who contracted the virus in liberia. among them are several children, the schools they attend were scrubbed from top to bottom as a precaution, and a person showing signs of the virus is now in isolation in honolulu, it's unclear if that patient has tested positive. we are following the story

of jessie matthew, who is linked to the disappearance of hannah graham. students in philadelphia helped to kick off fire prevention week today. monday starts the week in philadelphia. the charter school, holy redeemer elementary and al alexander mcclure school will hold the drills. they wran to make sure they have an escape plan just in case. space heaters can heat up a chilly room in the coming winter months but they account for a third of house fires each year. here is nydia han with the latest research to keep you

safe. >> reporter: consumer reports has tested 200 space heaters, you have an older one consider replacing it. the new ones have gotten safer. >> kevin reilly lost his restaurant when the fire started in the apartment above. firefighters determined the fire started because of a space heater. >> it was 45 seconds up there and that is all it took. the hallway filled with smoke very, very quickly. >> consumer reports checked a variety of space heaters to see how they worked. all of them have a safety switch to turn them off if they overheat or tip over. and they all passed this safety check, testers measured how hot this cloth gets. >> we recommend placing things at least three feet away from flammable items like curtains and newspapers. >> don't use an extension cord

i'm nydia han, channel 6 "action news." gas prices fell again overnight and the downward trend looks to continue, alicia vitarelli is here with more on the local prices. this is good news. >> reporter: it is good news, aaa says there are several reasons for the cheaper gas. they have switched to the winter crude. the national average $3.33 and in philadelphia, drivers are paying $3.40, south jersey down to 3 .13 and in delaware $3.26, and if you compare this prices to last month, you can see the big drop. in new jersey drivers saw a decline of 13 cents, these are lows we have not seen in several years, experts say they will go down farther. we are looking for numbers in the 2's. >> thinking big. >> i'll stop riding my bike and
