weekend will not be a washout. and friday night, jim is off, i'm monica malpass and the big story on "action news" is heavy rain moving into our area over the next hour. we're live on sky6 right now looking at penn's landing and we're about to get a wet start to the weekend. showers moving into the region already. when will they clear out. meteorologist cecily tynan live at the big board with more, hi, cecily. >> hi, monica. stormtracker 6 double scan showing showers moving into western suburbs right on schedule. it's still dry here in philadelphia. however you can see malvern has been getting showers. reading, pottstown, coatsville, oxford, lancaster, all of these are moving north and east. they should be moving into philadelphia around midnight. and the bigger picture on stormtracker 6 live double scan showing that this is really a broken line of showers all ahead of a very potent cold front. this cold front will sweep through in the morning hours and this will bring us a big change in the temperatures. a chill we have not felt since

and video from objection news meteorologists and collection of weather-related photos and videos. >> a teenageer is paralyzed tonight after losing control of her car along mlk drive and being trapped near the schuylkill river. rescueers pulled her from the mangled wreckage. she's being treated at the university of pennsylvania. that's where "action news" annie mccormick has the latest. any. >> reporter: and monica, that 17-year-old was taken here to the hospital in stable condition. but, police have confirmed that she was paralyzed from the waist down from the accident. near the accident scene there happened to be several nurses and, doctor in the air and they rushed to help. hours after the dramatic crash crews carefully removed the hangled suv that careened towards the schuylkill river trapping the 17-year-old driver inside. >> it was a tight fit. everything smashed around her. >> what was her demeanor like when you got. >> scared, talking but scared.

>> brandy needhoffer an icu nurse happened to be driving by. >> there was a bunch of people stopped on bicycles and looking over the railing t. was missing you. >> jumped into action. >> i went down there was another doctor running, too, we both went do you remember to help. >> monica dodd jumped off her bike and ran into action too. >> i saw some people walking down the hill to try to help out and so i went down to see if anyone needed anything. >> the driver told the nurses that she lost control. police believe the teen was traveling eastbound on martin luther king drive when they crossed westbound lane heading towards the river. her suv did a 180 then slammed through this guardrail flipping several times resting on the banks of the schuylkill. the single vehicle accident shut down both laindz of mlk drive snarling traffic across the city. several philadelphia police officers happened to be nearby and fire and marine crews were able to remove her from ladders and a rope before transporting

her to the hospital by ambulance. amazingly, no one else was hurt including joggers, bikers, and other vehicles that normally fill the roadway and sidewalks at that time. now, first responders tell us they do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved. now, accident investigators say this is an ongoing investigation. and they're still determining whether or not speed was a factor. for now live in university city. annie mccormick, "channel 6 action news." monica. >> thank you, annie. camden county police are releasing few details on report of someone firing at winslot township police car. arbor meadow drive. officers were responding to report of burglary when somebody fired a single shot. no one was hurt. no word yet of any arrests. a philadelphia synagogue is mourning member of its congregation murdered in his own

home. 54-year-old ronald fishman was long time member in roxboro. his former house guest, jonathan williams, stabbed him to death tuesday night during a confronttation at the home in east mt. airy. williams is charged with murder, burglary and other offenses. the family of missing woman is pleading for your help tonight in finding where mariah gray was last seen leaving her home september 19. loved ones handed out her photo. the 22-year-old is intellectually disabled and known to frequent frankford and area around 33 and diamond. if you see her call 91. developing news now from new jersey where officials have confirmed a preschooler who died had entrovirus. the 4-year-old boy from mercer county and attended yorkville elementary hamilton township. he died last week. it's not certain that was the only cause of death just that

the child did have a confirmed case of that virus. also, news tonight, two new cases of confirmed ept row virus d 68 in new jersey. that brings total in state to nine. meantime three children are now hospitalized in children's hospital of philadelphia with what could be entrovirus d 68 as well. doctors say patients are suffering with muscle weakness and mris are showing spinal changes. the hospital has alerted cdc. now more testing needs to be done. the virus has been seen in more than 40 states and it is linked to four deaths. >> you might normally see three to eight children over the course of twelve months. to see three within a short time frame at chop was unusual and that's is what others. >> doctors don't know if these children will resgain their strength. >> authorities say there is no health crisis as the first person diagnosed with ebola in the u.s. fights for his life. this is a busy weekend for folks

living in dallas and leaders are urging residents there not to panic. sharee williams at the "action news" big board with the latest, sharee. officials in dallas held a press conference tonight and provided new information to quell fears. officials stress at this point there's one person confirmed with the virus and that's thomas eric dunkin and of course we know he's isolated in dallas and fighting for his life. the other major point is in reference to the contact list the number of people believed to be in contact with dunkin and at the beginning it was at 10 people they dwindled it to 50 and now it's down to 10. finally out, watch as family members ordered to stay inside the dallas apartment leave. they were told to stay put because they were in contact with ebola patient thomas dunkin. the county judge of dallas personally escorted the family out today and said they're being moved to undisclosed location in dallas. >> the sort of location that
