tracker 6 live double scan giving you life imagery of the first band of showers that is pushing past philadelphia and in through parts of south jersey. this is really falling apart and not producing much at all but we have this second band we have been tracking coming up out of baltimore now pushing up i-95 through the state of maryland and just about ready to clip areas of new castle county delaware. again, this is also light nuisance rain but fluff to show you down when you're out there on the roads this morning. there you see the wider view. cloud cover obviously a part of the package. there's that next batch of rain. behind it we expect drying and eventually the return of some sunshine through most of the afternoon. temperatures right now aren't too shabby. 64 degrees in philadelphia. 59 degrees in allentown. 63 in wilmington. 62 in trenton. 60 in reading and a little milder down the shore at 67 in surf city -- sea isle city and also atlantic city. catching the school bus this morning? well, mainly cloudy and we have those spotty showers around so depending on what radar is showing in your neighborhood you might want to gear the kids with an umbrella or one of those plastic

ponchos. temperatures are going to be in the low to mid 60's during the walk to the school bus time period and then by 9:00, 65 degrees. by noon we're milder, 69. 75 by 3 o'clock. that is your high. and then 71 by 6 o'clock. a little breezy at times and notice how we get into the middle portion of the day and we get more sunshine. the clouds will probably get thicker again later in the afternoon and there might be a spotty shower after about four, 5, 6 o'clock. karen i think the next round of steadier rain is probably later tonight and i'll have more on that coming up on future tracker 6 it. as david showed us we have light sprinkles moving through and we can see the boulevard here a little bit wet at fox street but no big problems at this early hour between oxford circle and the schuylkill northbound near ryan we do have that paving work out there blocking the left lane so look for that still out there. on the big picture overall speeds are okay, maybe down just a notch with some of the roads being a little damp. in north philadelphia we've got this fire that we have been talking about in a vacant row home. dauphin street at ninth street.

stick to diamond street as your alternate for that one. and later tonight at 7 o'clock wwe smackdown. i just like saying that. but you got to watch for extra congestion in south philadelphia. all right, i-95 approaching cottman no delays just yet but the ramp from bridge street to i-95 southbound reopened. it had been closed for construction but that's clear early this morning, tam. >> talk, karen. new this morning, a fire and gas leak forced 92 residents of a delaware county apartment building to sleep elsewhere for the night. elevated levels of carbon monoxide filled the glen croft court apartments in folcroft. the fire damage is not widespread. there's a red cross shelter until co levels are safe. at least 21 people stayed the night there while dozens more found shelter elsewhere. the red paw response team is caring for two cats a and a dog. >> philadelphia teachers remain stunned over a sudden move by the school reform commission. members terminated the teachers contractor forcing

instructors to pay for a portion of their healthcare coverage. david henry is live at school district headquarters to tell us why this may be just the beginning of the battle. david. >> reporter: yeah, matt, the philadelphia teachers return to the classrooms under a cloud of uncertainty this morning. more so than ever before. question now is will there be some kind of sickout or other kind of job action after that bombshell dropped on them yesterday by the school reform commission. >> perfect example of the total, total disrespect for the teachers and other school employees who work in the school district of philadelphia. >> reporter: union leadership was outraged after the surprise announcement yesterday morning. the school reform commission unilaterally canceled its current contract with the teachers union. the district will now be impose agnew health plan that will save about $54 million a year. currently the teachers pay nothing for healthcare. starting in december, they'll have to pay for a share of their health benefits, about

27 to $71 a month. >> almost every american i know and every district in the commonwealth except for one, the teachers pay for their healthcare. >> reporter: the district and the teachers had been bargaining for a new contract for almost two years. the district says it can't wait any longer for concessions. the schools have been battered by an unprecedented financial crisis over the past few years. 5,000 staffers have been laid off and 31 facilities have been closed. the district says the money generated by teachers health plan co-pay will go toward reducing class size and restoring guidance counselors and other basic needs. >> what we're trying to do is get resources back into schools. we're also trying to take the least onerous way to do that and that's why we took wage reductions off the table. >> reporter: the teachers union says this is part of a union busting strategy by governor tom corbett. the governor appoints three members of the src and

the mayor appoints the other two. school advocates say teachers are already unfairly burdened. >> the teachers are buying paper, they're buying supplies, they're doing two jobs for the price of one. they have a lot of nerve saying that the pft members don't sacrifice. that is an outright lie. >> reporter: well, it is still unclear if the src even has the legal authority to cancel that teachers contract unilaterally like they d they are already going to court now to ask a judge to rule that they do, indeed, have that power. live at school district headquarters, david henry, channel6 "action news": matt. >> thank you, david. [cheers and applause] >> drivers honked in support of picketing teachers outside ridley high school in folsom delaware county last night. the teachers contract expired in june. they have remained on the job but say they have reached an impasse with the district. their demonstration continued

inside last night's school board meeting. the teachers say their main issue is over prep time and claim salary and benefits are not as contentious an issue. >> it is 5:07. the search for eric frein enters its 25th day. frein -- authorities reveal they found a letter they think was written by free. two senior law enforcement officials say the note details how frein ambushed and shot two state troopers, one fatally then escaped. >> a bankruptcy court judge could approve the sale of the revel casino and hotel in atlantic city. the owners of revel have accepted brookfield asset management's bid of $110 million, did so last week. the canadian company wants to reopen revel as a casino. florida developer glen straub put in a lower offer and continues his efforts to win the property which cost two points 4 billion to build. straub wants to open the property as a think tank.

>> not as cold out there this morning david but you would want to take an umly. >> in some neighborhoods, yes. storm tracker 6 live double scan shows you there are some areas of precipitation, most of this is very light. looks like the stuff to the east of philadelphia and southern gloucester or camden county is now kind of fading off the map. but you have that other batch coming in to new castle county delaware and now just starting to clip the southwestern corner of chester could you know and it is all creeping in. as we take a look outside, we have storm track -- or we have sky 6 i should say with cloudy skies overhead and not a whole lot of wind right now, although as we go through the day, we might catch a little bit of a breeze at times, probably not quite as much as yesterday. looks like i-95 is fairly dry in that picture. 64 degrees in philadelphia right now. 63 in wilmington. 59 degrees in allentown. i am bringing that always on seven day in on the left hand portion of your screen for those of you with hd. 67 in beach haven, 66 in the boardwalk so a little milder down the shore but everybody basically in the 60's right now. future tracker 6 shows that you as we get rid of these

first couple of batches of light rain over the next couple of hours, and i do expect it to all be out of here probably by about 7 or 8 o'clock this morning, we are going to transition into kind of a clouds and sun sky cover and we might even get a batch of this afternoon where it's getting fairly bright. but any time after about four, 5, 6 o'clock, there is the chance of another sprinkle or shower beginning to develop and then later tonight a chance of some heavier showers and props a gusty thunderstorm. now, future tracker wants to keep this later tonight more along the lines of when adam and cecily will be on the air later tonight with storm tracker live double scan to show it to you but i'll allow for it in the evening and while the model wants to place most of this off to the north, i actually thinks it would pop up just about anywhere. bottom line, we got a couple showers around this morning, most of the day in allentown and elsewhere is going to be dry with sun and clouds. but then later in the day and especially at night another round of showers and perhaps a thunderstorm pops up. atlantic city same story. sun and clouds through most of the day. once we get rid of these

morning sprinkles and then later today and tonight a shower possible, maybe a thunderstorm, a high of 68. and in philadelphia sun and clouds through most of the day were that late evening shower. winds southwest at eight to 16 miles per hour a75-degree high is going to feel pretty good. we'll climb that ladder fairly quickly today. we'll go from the mid 60's at 8 o'clock up to about 70 by lunchtime and a 75-degree high around 3 o'clock. then overnight tonight you can see how the rain gets on out of here and tomorrow we are looking at improvement with sunshine returning fairly quickly for your wednesday and probably hanging out for thursday as well. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, 75 today, clouds and sun. chance of another shower developing late in the day or tonight and maybe a thunderstorm later tonight. and then clouds giving way to sun on wednesdays. any shower activity should be done by dawn. afternoon is nice 73. thursday 66. cloudy weird of rain on friday. that looks like a wet one into

>> welcome back. you're taking a live look down the shore into atlantic city. it is now 5:14 and 62 degrees out there. we've got a little rain in parts of the area. >> including in the suburbs which is a good time for that suburban traffic report, karen. >> it's always a good time for the suburban traffic report, right but certainly you're right, matt, when those roads are a little damp out there, so let's look live. this is king of prussia, 202 at the schuylkill and you see a good shot of the roads. hardly wet at all. just a little damp and no problems at this point coming from west chester, exton or malvern. you're looking good right here on 202. and nothing but some construction out there. on the pennsylvania turnpike near fort washington we've got it blocking the right lane and center lane so with two lanes blocked that will be a little bit of an issue and eastbound past fort washington is blocking the right lane as well. construction here in mount laurel on the turnpike southbound between exits five and four blocking two lanes for about another two hours out there. and in hamilton township 295

northbound at olden avenue blocking two lanes there until 6 o'clock. so, lots of construction going on. in your commuter traffic report we can look right here, i've got the waze app on the ipad. i'm here on the blue route heading southbound on the blue route towards i-95. you know that will be a mess later in both areas but no problems right now. we're seeing no reports of any issues. so other than roads being just a little bit damp you're looking good. other than the sprinkles out there we want to talk about the temperatures. a big change. 64 degrees right now in philadelphia. 59 in allentown. compare this to yesterday. it's 20 degrees milder in allentown than it was at this point yesterday. 24 degrees milder along the coastline and millville. 14 degrees milder in philadelphia. with a high of 75 today, tam. >> thank you karen. delaware troopers say a four-year-old brought her win to a selbyville day care and then tried to pass it out to other children. investigators say 249 bags of heroin were in the little girl's backpack.

she thought they were candy and startd to give them out. 30-year-old ashley tull faces numerous charges induing endangering the welfare of a child. tull's four year old and two other children are now in the custody of a relative. a surprising move by the u.s. supreme court essentially legalized same-sex marriage in more than half the country. gay and lesbian couples applied for marriage licenses in virginia, oklahoma, indiana, utah and wisconsin. the supreme court did not make a definitive ruling. however, by rejecting to hear state appeals the high court effectively sanctioned same-sex marriage in 11 additional states up from the 19 where it's been allowed. some states such as kansas and south carolina say they still plan to continue their legal challenge. >> the washington redskins are playing themselves out of contention in the nfc east. they lost to the super bowl champion seattle seahawks on monday night football. quarterback russell wilson won the game with his arm and legs. he threw for two scores ran for another had a career high

processed foods starting yoga and taking vitamins. after three to six months, they claim nine out of the 10 patients with progressive memory loss had their symptoms reversed and the one person who did not improve had late stage alzheimer's. >> it is october but retailers are already thinking about late november and december particularly the holidays. abc's tm holmes has america's money. >> reporter: good morning. topping america's money, high expectations for the holiday shopping season. the industry predicts a 4% increase in sales in november and december. more than last year's increase. consumer spending is about 70 percent of the u.s. economy. there's also good news on gas prices this morning. they're almost as low as they have been all year. the energy department says the average price for a gallon of regular is $3.29 down sums six cents from a week ago. coffee prices appear the other way. futures are at their highest level in almost three years because a drought has cut the harvest outlook in brazil. that translates to higher retail prices in about a movement expensive engagement

>> doctors diagnose the first ebola case outside of africa. we are monitoring what this means for the effort to we are monitoring what this >> good morning. 5:30 now on this tuesday, october 7th. we'll head over to meteorologist, david murphy and to karen rogers. good morning. >> well, let's get a closer look at sprinkles and showers popping through on storm tracker 6 live double scan. these are live images and the most detailed accurate precise images you'll see in the area. right now there's a little bit of light rain pushing through the pennsylvania turnpike just in northern chester county, a bit more has broken free is that starting to pop into areas of western new castle county. there's a little bit more out to the west behind that and the earlier precipitation that was in parts of gloucester and burlington county now breaking up over northern burlington county and also to areas east of trenton. so, this is very light nuisance precipitation coming through but just enough to make your roads a little bit wet. the wide view shows once we get past this over the next hour or two, we are going to be in the clouds but eventually i think there will be se
