philadelphia international airport and she says it was because of her posts on twitter. >> the isis threat hits close to home. why the fbi has reason to believe a mystery man could be an american. >> only on "action news" a robber picks the wrong woman to mess with. hear an exclusive interview to mess with. homeowner who fought back. good morning, it's 5:30 on this wednesday. let's get right to weather and traffic. first eva pilgrim is here filling in for karen. david and karen here. >> hi, eve v off to a decent start temperature-wise. rain is off the coast. 64 degrees in philadelphia, 62 wilmington, 61 degrees in allentown. all these numbers on the mild side. and as we step outside we're going to call it partly cloudy as there are some breaks in the clouds developing. between 6 o'clock and 8 o'clock we'll be in the low 60's. it will be a little bit breezy out there. we have been talking about this we have a total lunar eclipse in the process of occurring right now. it began at 4:56. it's going to peek at 6:25. that's when the shadow of the

earth will be all the way across the face of the moon and then the moon sets around 7:09. problem has been for some of us anyway the fact that there are still some clouds out there. you see the vein gone. we're seeing some breaks in the clouds and right now as you take a look at that moon, you can see with that break in the cloud cover the shade of the -- or the shadow of the earth right about there and it is going to continues to push all the way across the moon. there come some of those clouds, though, so hopefully as you look at the western sky you can see that this morning. temperatures today are going to be mild and we're going to get plenty of sunshine once we break those clouds up a little bit later on. by 9:00 there might be a few clouds. i could also see it being pretty bright by 9:00 64 degrees. by noon 70. 75 is your high at 3:00 p.m. there will be gusty winds that will be gusting in the 20's maybe even up to about 30 at times through afternoon and early evening. karen, cooler air comes in to play tomorrow. i'll have details coming up in a couple minutes. >> all right, dave. some of our roads still wet from the overnight rain.

looking live here in bucks bucks county, this is i-95 at the scudder falls bridge. we had an overnight accident that caused problems. it has since cleared and we can see northbound lanes have reopened. speeds on the blue route, schuylkill, i-95 in pretty good shape. you've got the 76ers preseason game tonight at 7:00 so you'll see extra congestion there in south philadelphia and the action cam is on the scene of hunting park. i want to show you this. an accident involving two vehicles still causing a problem this morning on second street and pike street. you can see the damage done. there were injuries with this accident scene am you could avoid the area altogether and stick to luzerne street and front street. the accident investigation still taking place after a nasty accident overnight in hunting park. this accident still causing a problem. pennsylvania turnpike eastbound is blocked approaching reading and get this, it's an accident involving a tractor-trailer and a trash truck. debris on the westbound side as well. eastbound is blocked. stick to 422 or 322 instead, matt. >> thanks karen. back to something you just mentioned.

it's developing overnight. at least one person was seriously injured in a chain reaction wreck on the scudder falls bridge. up to seven cars were involved. it happened in the northbound lanes of i-95 on the span over the delaware river. police shut down i-95 to remove all of the wreckage and as karen just mentioned, it has since reopened. new this morning, a woman says her twitter posts got her booted from a jetblue flight at philadelphia international airport. passenger lisa carter knight says it all started with a misunderstanding between the pilot and something that was said by some of the passengers. carter knight says the pilot had thought the passengers were accusing him of being drunk. he ordered everyone off the plane so he could take a sobriety test which confirmed he was not drunk. carter knight meanwhile was tweeting about the entire incident and was any other allowed back on the flight. hear what she has to say coming up in a live report at 6:00 a.m. >> breaking in overnight, isis is being held responsible for downing an iraqi military

helicopter. two pilots have been killed. meantime the fbi has reason to believe this executioner featured in propaganda video is american. he's seen with syrian men who are supposedly digging their own graves before they're shot to death. >> this is the then -- end that they face. >> the fighter is heard speaking in perfect english with a north american accent. the fbi fears he has a u.s. passport which could pose a major threat to homeland security. officials are hoping someone might recognize something about him and provide the fbi with key information. >> health officials in spain have quarantined three more people since a nurse in madrid was infected with the ebola virus. the nurse had treated a priest who died from the virus. the woman's husband and a second nurse who helped the priest are now under observation along with a man who recently traveled to nigeria. officials in madrid also have a court order to euthanize the

nurse's pet dog because of the chance the animal might spread the disease. our ebola coverage continues on 6abc.com with the latest developments on both patients being treated here in the u.s. plus, learn more about the virus, its symptoms and how it spreads. >> a mom is under investigation this morning accused of teaming up with her daughters to attack another student at a hunting park high school. police say a 32-year-old woman and her two teenaged daughters attacked a 14-year-old at thomas edison high school yesterday morning. the victim was taken to saint christopher's hospital for observation. so far, no charges have been filed. a football player at the university of pennsylvania is on suspension and facing criminal charges. cameron countryman is charged with simple assault and reckless endangerment for an off campus incident on september 28. he will be off the team pending the outcome of his case. >> the candidates for pennsylvania governor meet for their third and final debate tonight. the faceoff between tom

corbett and democratic challenger tom wolf will take place in pittsburgh. the hour long debate is expected to be the last direct meeting of the candidates before election day november 4th. the latest poll from quinnipiac has governor corbett train wolf by 17 points. "action news" will be in pittsburgh as corbett and wolf face off at 7 o'clock. you can watch live on our digital channel 6 .2 or by viewing a live stream on 6abc.com. >> looks like the clouds are finally starting to move so we can see the moon this morning. >> we've had good luck this morning with our sky 6 cameras storm tracker 6 live double scan right now shows you that we are looking at precipitation-free conditions as those showers and thunderstorms overnight have now cleared the coast and as we take a look outside on sky 6, and there is our total lunar eclipse that isn't just total yet. it's going to be totally covered by the shadow of the. by about 6:25 this morning but right now you're seeing that shadow start to overtake the upper portion of the moon. pretty cool. you don't see this all that

often. now, we have been talking about how this is a blood moon which sometimes shows up as kind of an orange hu but perhaps because of the way the clouds are set up this morning we're not really seeing that. but boy, you could see that shadow inch being its way across the moon this morning and pretty cool. 64 degrees is your current temperature. we neath impendsying total lunar eclipse, your dewpoint is at 59. winds out of the southwest at 14. it is a little bit on the blustery side out there and i'm going to go ahead and take -- or add that always on seven day in the left-hand portion of your screen for those of you watching in hd. so, there go the showers and a couple strong thunderstorms that rolled through overnight. that one right there north of atlantic city actually briefly triggered a tornado warning at about 1:55 in the morning but there was no damage reported so far. strong winds out over the ocean in particular from that storm. we are seeing some cloud cover break up out to the west and we are expecting a transition to bright sunny skies today. by 9 o'clock, we might still be getting rid of some clouds in parts of the region but i

think there's a real good chance that between 8 o'clock and 9 o'clock you are seeing plenty of sunshine return, 63 degrees by 8:00. 68 by 11:00, bright there and by 2 o'clock, 73 with a high of 75 around 3 o'clock. now, it is going to be windy out there across the region as well and i'll talk more about that in a moment. high temperatures across the region 70 in allentown, a little cooler up to the north in places like reading and lancaster. down the shore 72 in atlantic city and cape may. in terms of the wind, now these are future tracker 6 wind gusts being plotted and right now we are looking at the potential anyway for some gusts up into the 20's and looks like it will stay that way with the wind shifting out of the west for most of the afternoon. this is noon and you can see how we're looking at blustery conditions across the region and at 5 o'clock it still looks fairly windy. as we get later into the evening the winds start to die down from west to east and by 11 o'clock to and night strongest gusts starting to push over to the shore with in general lower gusts in philadelphia. so, windy today from start to finish. future tracker 6 then shows tomorrow and not a lot going on, maybe a few late day

clouds. the change tomorrow will occur in the temperature and you'll see that right now in your seven day. your exclusive accuweather 7-day shows sunny and blustery conditions today, a high of 75. tomorrow lots of sunshine. still probably a bit breezy but a cooler high of just 68 degrees and some suburbs in the mid 60's. then on friday, 64 with clouds building in and damp conditions. some occasional showers. could be some steady rain down the shore during the day but i think most of us just see a spotty shower during the day and evening hours. and then on saturday unfortunately it looks kind of cloudy. there could be a spotty shower. i don't think saturday is a washout. most of the rain probably in the morning versus the afternoon sunday 63 with sun coming back for the eagles. >> all right, thanks, david. >> yeah. >> it's now 5:39. a new jersey woman wakes up and comes face to face with a burglar. he attacked but she fought back. >> a brand new shop in philadelphia hopes to change the way you see your eyewear. karen. >> looking live at 422 at

you're gonna learn to deal with alot of pain. but it is nothing like the pain that shingles causes. man when i got shingles it was something awful. it was like being blindsided by some linebacker. you don't see it coming. boom! it was this painful rash of little blisters. red, ugly stuff. lots of 'em. not a good deal. if you've had chicken pox, uh-huh, we all remember chicken pox. well that shingles virus is already inside of you. it ain't pretty when it comes out. now i'm not telling you this so that you'll feel sorry for me. i'm just here to tell you that one out of three people are gonna end up getting shingles. i was one of 'em. take it from a guy who's had his fair share of pain. you don't want to be tackled by shingles. so please go talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

>> ♪ >> good morning to you on this wednesday morning. a peek out of your window and you will see this, sky 6 hd over atlantic city showing us the moon. there's a lunar eclipse going on right now and it will be fully eclipsed at about 6:25 or so. it causes this effect when the moon turns orange. pretty cool. >> yeah, 'cause the earth shine shining back up there. what's going on on the roads right now, karen. >> as you're headed outlets see what it looks like. a live shot at fort washington, 309 at the pennsylvania turnpike. no problems here. some of your roads damp from that rain that moved through in the overnight hours and 309 between quakertown and cheltenham you're seeing no issues. on the turnpike near willow grove we had some construction that cleared but the bigger issue on the turnpike is that eastbound is shut down in pennsylvania approaching reading. that's exit 286. it's an accident involving a tractor-trailer and a trash truck. nasty accident. they've got debris on the westbound side. eastbound you've got it shut down. stick to 422 or 322 as your

alternate. and in mercer county get something flooding here blocking the right lane of route 1, brunswick pike northbound at bakers basin road. so, watch for that. some flooding going on currently. let's take a look right now at your commuter traffic report which you get to be a part of when you download the free waze app. looking here in upper salford, main street, skippack pike, bridge road, big road, no problems. red hill looking good with lay field road and route 100 showing no issues, either so you can kind of check all the suburbs right now and not too many accidents or issues out there early this hour. we've been watching i think our shot just kind of lost it there of the moon with the clouds coming in and out. you can sort of see a hint of it. watching for that shot of the total lunar eclipse at 6:25. we got to get the clouds out of there. they're starting to break a bit. you're seeing a hint of it but you're seeing after least partial eclipse right now. something we've been enjoying watching all morning long. matt and eva. >> thank you. another person is dead another in custody following a standoff with an armed man in chicago.

the man is accused of shooting a police captain who is in serious condition but is expected to survive. the officer was part of the team trying to arrest daniel brown. he was originally being sought in connection with a triple shooting in indianapolis. it is unclear if brown is the man now in custody. >> new from the overnight, the lapd says a shooting scare near the home of actor steven collins turned out to be a false alarm. officers swarmed the property after a report of a suspicious sound in could have been a gun shot. collins is under investigation for alleged child molestation. the claim surface in there a recording from a therapy session with the actor's estranged wife. collins has resigned his position with the screen actor's guild. several networks have pulled reruns of collins' show seventh henning. >> adrian peterson expected to plead not guilty to child abuse charges in a texas courtroom today. this will be peterson's first court appearance since his indictment last month. peterson is accused of spanking his four-year-old son

gusting in the 20's but mild conditions at least in terms of the temperature and lunar eclipse going on but as we are showing you the cloud cover sometimes obscure it. keep it here on channel 6 if you go outside and can't see in it western side because we have been get something good shots of it, matt. >> yeah, we have been watching it. thank you david. an indiana co-couple says it has proof excessive force that started over a seat belt violation. that incident has led to a federal lawsuit against hammond police. the couple says the officer smashed -- you can clearly see this butter they say they did it because they had the windows rolled up and they feared for their own safety. an officer then used a taser on the father in front of the children. the department says the officers were acting in the interest of their own safety. the two officers have been sued for excessive force in the past. there's newly released video of clashes between michael brown protesters and baseball fans in saint louis on monday night. the demonstrators were

>> a burglar got more than he bargained for when he tried to rob a south jersey home. "action news" spoke exclusively with the 66-year-old widow who faced down the man in her home. the retired schoolteacher asked that we not show her face. the incident happened at 1:45 yesterday morning in the woman's home in lind wall. the victim was walking down her stairs when she was startled by a man approaching her. >> i of course said something ridiculous like, you know, who are you? and he was very quick and he came up and i proceeded down. but i just came on down. >> the suspect sprayed pepper spray at the woman and yanked the purse out of her hand. the woman yelled at the man and struggled with him scaring him off. the woman thinks the man is left-handed because he used that hand to spray her. if you saw something that could help find the suspect, you're urged to call lindenwold police. a burglary spree in the stone hurts section of upper darby has homeowners on alert. police superintendent michael

chitwood says the same man has broken into five homes since september 20th. he hit again yesterday morning stealing a cell phone off a sleeping victim's chest. each time the thief got in through a first floor window. officers are hoping to get forensic evidence off of a crowbar left at one of the homes. >> a washington state homeowner is looking for a burglar with a limp. he has video to match. this is the surveillance video of the woman trying to find a way into the home in the town of puyallup. she ends up climbing onto the roof. when the family heard footsteps on the roof the home more than banged on a window. she heard them and to escape jumped 15 feet to the ground. the burglar possibly with a limp remains on the loose. >> goodness gracious. it's 5:57. santa is a big spender. we'll tell you about the six figure fantasy on some shoppers' christmas list that includes a trip to the oscars.
