karen rogers for weather and traffic. good morning. >> cool lunar eclipse this morning. if you have been watching over the last hour or so that the moon is getting lower toward the horizon, getting a little harder to see but we'll do our best to keep our eyes on it for you. 63 degrees in philadelphia. 59 in allentown. 62 in trenton. it's little bit breezy but these are not bad numbers for this time of year and this time of morning. as we head out the door to check out that school bus, well, between now and 8 o'clock we expect to be hovering in the low 60's, partly cloudy skies with continued clearing, breezy conditions and of course that total lunar eclipse is still with us. it's going to be totally covered by the shadow of the earth at 6:25 and then the sun sets or the moon sets i should say at 7:09 right around the time the sun is coming up. satellite and radar shows you we have cloud cover beginning to thin out. it's still out there across a portion of the region but we are starting to see the clouds thin and of course those thunderstorms that rumbled through overnight are now gone and off the coast. as we roll through the day it does look like a pretty nice one. 64 degrees by 9:00.

maybe a few more clouds but i expect it to be fairly bright across much of the region then. full sun by noon and then 75 is your high by 3 o'clock. about the only negative in the forecast today, karen, is the fact in it's going to be very blustery through the afternoon with winds gusting as high as 25 to 30 miles an hour. what are cars and trucks looking like this morning. >> you'll want to watch if you're driving through an area where you have halloween direction indications, trash that's blowing around with winds blowing up to 25 miles per hour. on the highways looking good in delaware county. i-95 at the commodore barry bridge starting to dry out after the storms from the overnight hours. i want to take you to hunting park though. the action cam was on the scene with this one, a nasty accident involving two vehicles that was a mess of a situation. you see the emergency workers that were there on second street and pike street and serious damage to the vehicles involved and injuries with this accident as well. so, an accident investigation going on. you might want to stick to luzerne street and front street instead of second street there in hunting park. here in the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound we've got an accident involving a tractor-trailer and a trash

truck blocking eastbound pennsylvania turnpike approaching reading. stick to 422 or 322 instead. we expect they may start to open a lane pretty soon but at this point it still blocked westbound with debris on the roadway that you got to watch out for especially as the wind helps blow it around. mercer county flooding blocking one lane on brunswick pike, that's route 1 northbound at bakers basin road and on the ben franklin bridge no delays just yet, matt, but we have construction blocking the right lane so that will slow you down soon. >> thanks karen. new this morning here a woman claims her twitter post about an incident involving a pilot at philadelphia international airport got her kicked off a flight to boston. "action news" reporter vernon odom is live at phl with the full story. hi, vern. >> reporter: good morning, matt. volume picking up here by the minute at philadelphia international airport this morning. business as usual so far here. as you take a look back at the airport, i want to tell you about this lady last night. she apparently got on her

smartphone to start tweeting about her weird experience here and that brought her lots of grief -- the cell phone brought her lots of grief. a jetblue flight to boston was delayed for hours last night because of a passenger's so-called joke overheard and apparently misinterpreted by the pilot as the plane was being boarded. lisa carter knight was one of the passengers on the way home to boston. >> we had been waiting an hour so there was a joke by another passenger, been a long night, hope there's a fully stocked bar on the airplane and the pilot immediately ran out and says, that's it, everybody back up on the -- up at the gate. i've been accused of being intoxicated. >> reporter: the pilot said he was now obligated to take a sobriety test. it came back negative but this delayed the flight long past the original 8:30 departure time so carter knight began setting out her story on social media. >> i'm a marketing professional so i went to twitter to share my experience. not bad, just very strange with my friends and my

followers. and jetblue staff and the pilot did not like that tonight and so i'm standing here at 1 o'clock in the morning because i was denied access to the flight tonight. >> reporter: that jetblue flight to boston took off just after midnight this morning. carter knight says she was stuck here of course overnight am she had to go back to her mother's house and she could not get home. she was not able to rebook last night. she says she'll only be getting her refund in about 48 hours. jetblue put out a statement confirming the angry pilot did pass that sobriety test he took and they'll have more to say about this entire incident later on today. live at philadelphia international airport, vernon odom, channel6 "action news." >> thanks vernon. also new this morning, smoke and flames damaged an apartment in south jersey. this is viewer video of the apartment imleks on the 1000 block of jardin court in burlington at 11:30 last night. crews arrived to flames shooting through the roof. it took about an hour to get

the fire under control. firefighters were able to contain the fire to one unit. there nor reports of any injuries. >> a man is in critical condition, another is in jail following a stabbing at a northeast philadelphia supermarket. the action cam was at the scene yesterday evening at the pathmark other 800 block of cottman avenue. witnesses tell police the two men were arguing in the produce section of the store when one of them pulled out a kitchen knife and established the other man in the -- stabbed the other man in the neck and face. >> one of the ladies was screaming, his wife, partner, girlfriend or something. it was nerve wracking. >> police say several teens tipped them off at the attacker was walking on nearby railroad tracks. chopper 6 was overhead right after they took him into custody and recovered the knife. the man is charged with aggravated assault. >> five additional cases of enterovirus have been confirmed in new jersey. they include one in camden county and one in mercer county bringing the state's total to 14. camden county officials say the boy diagnosed with the d68

strain was brought to the hospital for treatment 10 days ago. he's now recuperating at home and not in danger of infecting other children. our coverage of the enterovirus out break continues on 6abc.com. there you will find the signs and the symptoms of the virus and the six things you need to know about enterovirus. >> there are signs that it is getting slightly harder to entice people to buy homes. maribel aber tells us what homeowners are doing about this live at the nasdaq in times square. hi, maribel. >> reporter: hi there matt. home builders are offering actually free pools and built in barbecues to try and boost sales. incentives are being offered in parts of arizona, california and florida where new home sales have slowed. and buyers have pulled back after the government will cut the maximum size for mortgages made with low down payments. that's left a glut of new homes in some markets like phoenix. you can expect to pay less to heat your home this winter. that's the forecast from the department of energy. it says that heating costs

will fall due to expected warmer temperatures. if you use oil, your costs could drop 15 percent. about 5 percent if you're using natural gas. talking stocks, u.s. stocks hit hard by fears of a slow down in global growth. the dow lost more than 270 points. futures pointing to a lower open. fleam man marcus will let you live like a hollywood star for a night at least. the luxury retailer is selling an oscar themed package in its its holiday catalog. spend oscar weekend in beverly hills, there's plenty of pampering and it's capped off by admission to the vanity fair party where you'll mix with hollywood royalty. all this star gazing comes at a cost, though. the price tag on the package, $425,000. matt and eva got have the big bucks if you want to bask in that hollywood light for the weekend. >> neiman marcus, boo. >> better come with a dress. if i was george clooney i would be worried about some very well three cook showing up. storm tracker 6 live double scan, we have no precipitation as the storms from overnight are off the coast. we did have a tornado warning briefly about 12 miles up the coast from atlantic city but no reported damage from that thunderstorm as it pushed off the coast. as we take a look outside we have a picture from our abc cameras and this is showing the lunar eclipse which is getting very close to being a total eclipse. that happens at 6:25 this morning. of course all morning we've been tracking this for you and we thank abc for this very pretty picture taken from somewhere where there aren't as many clouds as there are locally. it's been a little bit lard to see it locally but we have been able to get some shots for you on the action cam but this is a real good one and you can see how that moon is in the process of moving lower and lower towards the horizon as this fixed camera starts to lose that shot a little bit. 63 degrees right now in philadelphia, 62 in wilmington. we're starting out with partially cloudy skies and a

little cool and breezy out there but these numbers actually aren't too bad. i have added the always on seven day on the left-hand portion of your screen for those of you watching in hd. 59 right now in both reading and allentown and 67 in sea isle city. there go the storms from last night. they're gone and now we see some breaks in the clouds down in delaware and we have seen the clouds thin out a little bit in and around philadelphia, too. if you want to try and catch a live look at that moon, look low to the western horizon as it starts to sink and gets covered up. kind of a cool picture this morning. in allentown today's high is 70, mostly sunny and windy once we get rid of these morning clouds. and pretty much the same story down the shore. 72 blustery but lots of sun and mild conditions this afternoon. in philadelphia, we're going for a high of 75 today. those winds out of the west at 12 to 25 miles per hour gusting a little higher than that at time. blustery conditions but bright and mild. and here's how it's going to go today. 63 by 8 o'clock, 68 by 11 o'clock and 73 by 2 o'clock. we're basically spending the whole afternoon in the 70's. your high of 75 right there around 3 o'clock and again

winds blowing through the region, blustery at times. here's future tracker 6 showing that to you. winds right now running a little bit out of the southwest. as we go in through midday they'll turn out of the west. we'll see those gusts up into the 20's across much of the region, kind of ahold onto your hats kind of day and even at 4:30 this afternoon still rather blustery. later on tonight we'll start to see in pockets those winds begin to die down and then overnight they do become less. tomorrow a front is through and instead of the 70's we get cooler air behind it. it will be sunny tomorrow but highs only in the 60's so a bit of a cool change coming. your exclusive accuweather 7-day sunny and blustery today, 75. not a bad day just windy. then sunny breezy and cooler tomorrow a high of 68. another frontal boundary arrives on friday and that will make us cloudy and damp with some spotty showers through the day, maybe some steadier rain down the shore during the afternoon. most of the steady rain looks like it holds off later at night for most of us. that will be good for me because i'm going to be attending a high school football game friday night.

it was westbound. they have just pushed it off to the side right now so already moved the accident out but you could see how heavy traffic is in this area westbound traffic on the vinianing from broad street to approaching the schuylkill so expect a slower go there. let's go ahead and take a look right now at some of the other issues around the area. looking at the big picture, i'm 95 southbound a little slow, 26 miles an hour right now past academy to cottman. about 23 from allegheny to girard. the schuylkill still in pretty good shape at this hour and not really showing a lot of slowing. this accident that we had been talking about there has cleared -- that we talked about on the vine street expressway so looking good there but we do have this problem in hunting park. a two-vehicle accident. the investigation is still going on so watch for that right now, second street and pike street. let's head over here and can check out another situation. we've got a problem in collegeville, an accident involving a deer. trappe road at sugar pine lane so look for that, it's off to the side but may still 'cause i was little bit of an issue. and the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound here approaching

reading, exit 286, you want to watch for some major delays, an accident involving a tractor-trailer and a trash truck. it's now just blocking a left lane so it had been shut down through much of the morning, now blocking the left lane so major delays still on the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound and you want to expect the delays to be westbound as well with some debris on the roadway. and then the wind kind of gusting at times. any time you've got debris out there or people's decorations it may be a bit of an issue. current cannily 15 miles an hour in philadelphia. as david has been saying we could see gusts up to 25 miles an hour today eva. >> thanks karen and new at 6:00 two officers from new york will be in court today to face sex assault charges stemming from a trip to atlantic city. this is file video of the taj mahal where the alleged incident occurred back in april a34-year-old woman made the claims against the law enforcers sparking the six month investigation. the two suspects have been identified as a seven year veteran of the nypd and a three year veteran of the new york state police.

an air tanker spraying a wild in yosemite national park slammed into a canyon wall killing the pilot. williams say they heard a loud explosion and looked up and saw fiery pieces of the plane falling from the steep canyon wall yesterday afternoon. press cue crews found the wreckage and confirmed the death of the pilot. so far this fire has scorched more than a hundred ache course and -- iraqi acres. >> an upcoming app will help you and your facebook friends go into hiding. reena ninan has tech bites. anonymity on facebook. the new york times says the social network is working on an app that would allow pseudo nims. a record record of your movement record heart rate respiratory rate and more. the wall street journal joanna stern tried out some of the gadgets and said with most of them understanding what the data means is a problem.

>> all right, everyone, so, starting to get a sense that the moon is turning red. now, this is what happens here. this is a national feed so maybe we should just pull out from this. who knows what we'll see. >> one doesn't know. >> what happens is when it has the total eclipse and you know this, the sunlight that's bouncing off the earth hits the moon giving it the impression that it looks like it's filled with blood. >> yeah, that's what's going on right now at 6:25 is when it's total eclipse. >> looking a little bigger, autopsy the size of a super moon so you can really see it except for the clouds. let's take a look outside, south philadelphia i-95 at broad street. we have a disabled vehicle. can you see it up ahead? penndot was here. they left from the scene. that disabled vehicle is still there. it's off to the shoulder there so watch for that. this is as you head northbound on i-95 towards the walt whitman bridge you'll see that guy off to the side. looking live in new jersey,

that's 42 northbound traffic at creek road. some building volume coming in from turnersville, blackwood some building volume coming in delay yet, dave. >> we're in the low 60's across most of the region this morning karen and on the big board we're still going to be in the low to mid 60's by 9 o'clock. there may be some clouds still trying to evacuate part of the region but i think it's going to be fairly bright by 9 o'clock. right now we have partly cloudy skies. 70 with lots of sun by noon and 75 is your high today at 3 o'clock so it is going to be nice and mild but we are going have strong winds blustery can conditions blowing through the region with kegs wind gusts up over 25 miles per hour at times. if you're headed to the airport we haven't been seeing any big time delays on any of our travel destinations although out in chicago, just in the last 15 minutes they have posted some delays possibly because of some fog there. 50 minute delays if you're headed to and from chicago so be careful of that. and this is what the blood moon looked like about 5:45 this morning as you could see, about half of the moon covered by shadow of the earth. it's been fun bringing you

>> developing this morning a strong shallow earthquake shook southwestern china killing at least one person injuring more than 300 and damaging dozens of buildings. the quake hit a little before 10:00 last night china time when most residents would have been in their homes. the magnitude 6.6 quake was followed by eight aftershock. troops have rushed into that area to search for victims. >> new from the overnight a passenger at philadelphia international airport says getting too social got her stranded. >> and why a dog could become the next casualty from ebola. sunshine um can congress up over the horizon. thundershowers are long gone. we are in the process of witnessing a total lunar eclipse. it actually became a total eclipse about five minutes ago at 6:25 and since about 4:56 we have been showing you the shadows coming across the face of the moon. the problem now and i've got a lot of people on facebook and twitter saying hey i'm looking for it and i can't see it, well it's getting pretty low to the horizon and we have clouds around so a little tougher to see now although we're doing the best with the help of our friends and coworkers at abc news to bring you pictures of that. the action cam had it earlier. as we go through the rest of the day, the issue is going to be warm temperatures which isn't much of an issue at all. 64 by 9:00 a.m., by noon 70. 73 is your high at 3 o'clock and lots of sun today but it will be very windy with winds gusting up over 25 miles per hour at times so look out for debris on the roadways as you're driving this afternoon. karen we get cooler tomorrow. details coming up in the seven day. >> all right, dave, we've got a handful of early morning

accidents getting to them starting here in center city, the vine street expressway westbound as you approach the schuylkill, you could see how jammed you are from broad street to approaching the schuylkill. this accident now off to the side. you can make out police here and the tow truck on the scene with this one. this accident on the shoulder but still jamming you up on the vine. i want to take you over to a new accident. we can see police on the scene with this one. a number of emergency workers. this is swedesford road at 202. you can see they're kind of forcing everybody off. police have just arrived here with this road being blocked at this point. not sure if they're allowing any of the traffic to come through but they're kind of forcing everybody yes can come offer right now. swedesford road and 202, watch for that accident. another in montgomery county, trappe road at sugar pine cleared. this is valley forge road between stump hall and skippack pike, that accident just in. on the pennsylvania turnpike, had an accident way tractor-trailer and a trash truck. it closed the eastbound lanes

approaching reading for awhile. now the right lane gets by, left lane gets by. it's blocking the right lane. left lane gets by on the pennsylvania turnpike but expect some major delays. david has been talking about the wind gusts with the trash truck accident, we have debris on the westbound side and so that could be an issue, too, matt. >> okay, karen. one of the accidents you have been following is our developing story. at least one person was seriously injured in a chain reaction wreck on the scudder falls bridge. up to seven cars were involved. it happened in the northbound lanes of i-95 on the span over the delaware river. police shut down i-95 to remove the wreckage. it has since reopened. new this morning, a woman says her twitter posts got her kicked off a jetblue flight at philadelphia international airport. lisa carter knight says it all started with a pilot's misunderstanding over something that was said by some of the passengers. carter knight says the pilot thought the passengers were accusing the pilot of being drunk, so he ordered everyone off the plane so he could take a sobriety test which confirmed he was not drunk.

carter knight was tweeting about the entire incident and she thinks that is why she wasn't allowed back on the flight. jetblue plans to issue a statement later this morning. >> breaking overnight, isis is being held responsible for downing an iraqi military helicopter. two pilots have been killed. meantime, the fbi has reason to believe this executioner featured in a propaganda video is an american. he's seen with syrian men who are supposedly digging their own graves before they're shot to death. >> this is the end that they face. >> the fighter is heard speaking in perfect english with a north american accent. the fbi fears he has a u.s. passport which could pose a major threat to homeland security. officials are hoping someone might recognize something about him and provide the fbi with key information. >> spanish health officials have quarantined three more people since a nurse in madrid was infected with the ebola virus.

the nurse had treated a priest who died from the virus. the woman's husband and a second nurse who helped the priest are now under observation along with a man who recently traveled to nigeria. officials in madrid also have a court order to euthanize the nurse's pet dog because of the chance the animal might spread the disease. our ebola coverage continues on 6abc.com. with the latest developments on both patients being treated in the u.s., plus learn more about the virus, its symptoms and how it spreads. >> a mom is under investigation this morning accused of teaming up with her daughters to attack another student at a hunting park high school. police say a 32-year-old woman and her two teenaged daughters attacked a 14-year-old at thomas edison high school yesterday morning. the victim was taken to saint christopher's hospital for observation. so far no charges have been filed. >> the candidates for pennsylvania governor meet for their third and final debate tonight. the faceoff between republican tom corbett and tom wolf take

place in pittsburgh. the debate is expected to be the last direct my meeting of the candidates before election day november 4th. the latest poll from quinnipiac has governor corbett trailing wolf by 17 points. there. very cool this morning. it's been a lot of fun bringing these pictures to you. as we take a look at temperatures right now, 63 degrees is your current temperature, dewpoint 58. winds out of the southwest at 15. it's a a little bit breezy out there but at least the numbers aren't bad. satellite and radar shows you those thunderstorms from last night pushing through. we actual had a tornado warning a little before 2 o'clock in the morning about 12 miles north of atlantic city along the jersey coast. no damage reported yet from that but strong winds, especially maritime winds just off the ocean from there storm. now you see the clouds are beginning to disperse. it's out in the western horizon but getting pretty low to the horizon so you'll need to be in a place before there's not a lot of tall trees blocking you, et cetera. 63 degrees by 6 o'clock. the day does look like it's going to be pretty bright. i'm leaving the possibility of clouds in by 8 o'clock but i think the sun will burst back pretty quickly this morning for most of us and by 11 o'clock 68. by 2 o'clock 73, and that's your high today, 75. the only thing about today --

this looks great right it is going to be very windy and blustery out there particularly during the afternoon and i'll have a real nice future tracker 6 look at that in a moment. high temperatures, 71 in reading, pretty warm everywhere. a little cooler up north a-little cooler down the shore. mid 70's up and down the i-95 core do. these are wind gusts on future tracker and between now up until about noon you're going to be looking at a lot of these winds gusting you up as high as 24 to 27 miles per hour, maybe even 30. i was a little bit late on this but there's your accuweather always on seven day on the left side in case you want to peek ahead. as we get later in the afternoon, 4:30, 5 o'clock, it will still be blustery. as karen has been mentioning if you're driving today or this afternoon or even this evening be careful of debris on the roadways, branches, maybe some halloween decorations that have cut loose. there might be stuff on the roads because of. that by 11 o'clock a lot of the area beginning to see this die down a bit. tomorrow looks like another

moon is on the other side of the earth with the earth being between that and the sun and so when the sun's rays bend around the earth they kind of reflect off and bounce on the moon and make it look red and so that's what's going on live right there in your skies this morning. >> a little cloudy. don't look up while you're driving. there's a lot going on on the roads this morning. >> if you do this will happen. we've got an accident right here causing a problem in montgomery county. this is swedesford road at 202 and you can see traffic is really jammed. they're letting traffic just partially get by at this point. look at the number of emergency workers on the scene with this accident and they've also been forcing people off at times. you see police officers over here at 202 dekalb pike. watch for this one partially blocking traffic. a number of police and emergency workers on the scene and we've seen a bunch of accidents today. this one here on valley forge road between stump hall road and skippack pike. that's still out there and we had one on the vine street expressway as we look live right here, this is westbound

traffic that has been really jammed approaching the schuylkill. the accident was off to the shoulder. we had police and tow truck on the scene. not seeing it at this point but you can see it's really jammed in this area because of this. we're jammed from broad street to approaching the schuylkill. and it's that time of year especially with the weather conditions, we had the rain overnight, windy conditions and you have wet leaves on the roadways which my mom would always say they're like ice. be careful. we have a bunch of accidents today. let's get some of your majors here. i-95 southbound from allegheny to girard about 17 miles an hour. so a slow go there. 16 miles an hour on the schuylkill expressway westbound past the boulevard, past belmont, you're seeing that slow go there. this accident over here still an issue in hunting park. it was two vehicle accident on second street and pike street but it's an accident investigation that is continuing out there so just watch for that as you're headed out. let's look at some of the weather conditions. wind speeds right now aren't that bad at 15 miles an hour but it will be gusting at times up to about 25 today so feeling kind of blustery

despite a high of 75, matt. >> thanks karen. breaking from the overnight, one person is dead, another is in custody following a standoff with an armed man in chicago. the man is accused of shooting a police captain who is in serious condition but expected to survive. the officer was part of a team trying to arrest a man named daniel brown. he was originally being sought in connection with a triple shooting in indianapolis. it is unclear if brown is the man now in police custody. >> new from the overnight, the lapd says a shooting scare near the home of actor steven collins turned out to be a false alarm. officers swarmed the property after a report of a suspicious sound that could have been a gun shot. collins is under investigation for alleged child molestation. the claims surfaced in a recording from a therapy session with the actor's estranged wife. collins has now resigned his position with the screen actor's guild. several networks have pulled reruns of collins' show seventh heaven. >> vikings running back adrian

peterson is expected to plead not guilty to child abuse charges in a texas courtroom today. this will be peterson's first court appearance since his indictment last month. peterson is accused of spanking his four-year-old son with a switch or a small tree branch earlier this year. the viking is barred from all team activities until his case is resolved. >> a burglar got more than he bargained for when he tried to rob a south jersey home. "action news" spoke exclusively with the 66-year-old widow who faced down the man in her home. the retired schoolteacher asked that we not show her face. the incident happened at 1:45 yesterday morning in the woman's home in lindenwold. the victim was walking down her stairs when she was startled by a man approaching her. >> i of course said something ridiculous like, you know, who are you? and he was very quick and he came up and i proceeded down. >> the suspect sprayed pepper spray at the woman and yanked the purse out of her hand. the woman yelled at the man
