6 3d shows again you see the light spotty shower activity working through. if you look to the west, west in pennsylvania there is a void in the radar. we will have a period of generally dry weather this evening. however, much wider view showing a conveyer belt of moisture. low pressure across the midwest, and that's the system that will be heading through in the overnight hours. this will bring us really the bulk of the rain. futuretracker showing the heaviest rain moving in around 3:00 in the morning when most of us are asleep. mainly south of philadelphia. the rain will extend to the north, but the heaviest rain will be south. unfortunately, it will be lingering into the first half of the day on saturday. this is the timeline between now and midnight for your friday night for the football games looking at on and off light showers. nothing heavy. late tonight, after midnight into tomorrow morning this is when i do expect the steady rain. the good news is, it's not going to be an all-day rain event. saturday afternoon it will still

hospital after a car crashed into a home in south philadelphia this afternoon. emergency crews responded to the 2500 block of mckeen street around 1:30 p.m. the car landed on the steps of this building. it is unclear if the injured people were in the car or on the sidewalk. investigators are still looking into the cause of the crash. surveillance footage we first showed you yesterday on actions at 5:00 linked two to two different heists. stealing bikes from a rittenhouse garage yesterday afternoon. yesterday the police tracked them down for stealing more bikes. and officers say they are the same men in the video. bog -- both are homeless and charged with bicycle theft and related offenses. the ebola outbreak killed 4,000 people. the united nations officials say the number of cases will likely double every three or four

weeks. in the meantime 100 additional u.s. marines landed in liberia to help with supplies and logistics. in the u.s. concern is growing is a congressional panel convened in dallas, texas where the nation's first ebola case was diagnosed. >> if you are any of my constituents and many americans are asking the question, why aren't we banning all flights from west africa into the united states? >> in order to stop it, we need uninhibited transit into and out of the country so we can bring resources there. >> we learned today that thomas duncan who died of ebola two days ago was released from the hospital with a 103-degree fever. he was sent home the first time just with antibiotics. concerned of ebola and the respiratory enterovirus d68 are growing throughout the u.s. tonight. in response, airports including philadelphia international have stepped up screening efforts for

ebola. meanwhile, local doctors are on high alert for both viruses. health reporter ali gorman is live outside with a look at the preparedness efforts there. hi. >> you might think if someone has possible symptoms of ebola they would go to the hospital, but it is just as likely they would come to an urgent care center like the one here behind me. and doctors here say they do have a plan in place, but they are also on high alert for a more commonly-seen viruses. doctors say these empty chairs in the waiting room are a sign of the calm before the storm. the doctor says it is the start of the season for respiratory viruses. enterovirus d68 has already sent hundreds of children to hospitals across the country. and the flu is on its way. it can also cause severe illness. >> over the course of the year

for year, statistics, more die of influenza than d68. >> and seeing the first flu this week, earlier than in the past. >> it may be a sign it is peaking early, but may be more widespread. >> and unlike that there is a vaccine to prevent the flu, recommended for everyone over six months old. and the doctor says they are also on high alert for ebola. they have a plan in place to screen for symptoms and travel history and what to do if ebola is suspected. airports, including philadelphia international, are also on the front lines when it comes to controlling ebola. if a passenger's travel includes time in west africa, they are given this informational flyer and questioned about symptoms and possible exposure.

violation could put him behind bars. a break down on what happened. >> the government is arguing that merlino violated his probation by hanging with people he was told to stay away from. merlino's attorney, they deny that and argue today that even if it were true, the u.s. attorney didn't properly file the petition. the 52-year-old calmly walked into the federal courthouse saying he couldn't wait to go to the mummer's parade when asked what it was like to be in philadelphia. he is on supervised release from prison the past three years and his probation set to end september 6. the u.s. attorney said months before the probation ended merlino mad a -- had a meeting with convicted felons and others. and merlino's attorney said they did not file until after his probation had already ended. and merlino's camp says they don't have jurisdiction to rule

on it because of that technicality. >> the judge has to make a decision on the way he reads the law. obviously detevens down similar and i review it differently. >> two days before he was scheduled to be terminated he gets these charges. so on the surface you have to scratch your head and wonder why now. >> and picking on you at the end of supervised release? >> what do you think? >> i am asking it you. >> he ain't got nothing to say. he ain't got nothing to say. >> joey in his typical form i see there. as a point of interest, the former mobster that was spotted mouth side of the courthouse, and he was a co-defendant in merlino's original case and also one of the people that the u.s. attorney says that merlino met with while on probation. now it is up to the judge to rule in the court has jurisdiction to hear this petition brought forth by the u.s. attorney or not. in the meantime merlino is waiting to hear if he is free and clear. the judge is expected to rule on

and action radar showing a conveyer belt of moisture to the south. western pennsylvania cloudy skies, and most of the evening will be damp and no heavy rain. and the batch moving through in the overnight hours lingering into saturday morning. the high school football games tonight, it will be damp and dreary and on and off light showered. bundle up, it will be cold at the game. temperature at 7:00, 59. by 10:00, dropping down to 57. futuretracker showing 11:00 not a lot of activity in the form of rain. plenty of clouds. however, look what happens in the overnight hours and by 7:00 in the morning we have a good batch of some steady rain, especially philadelphia, areas west and south. but the good news is, it doesn't linger all day. by 11:00 the steadiest rain is already heading offshore. still plenty of clouds headed
