jersey and here are the dewpoints showing you dewpoint numbers in the mid 60's almost everywhere. that's moderately humid air so you will feel muggy especially if you start moving around out there this morning. if you're catching the school bus between six and 8 o'clock low 70's. i could see t-shirts on the school bus this morning and keeping them handy this afternoon. if you're headed to school or work here's what the smartphone says. 70 degrees right now, 72 at 8 o'clock and then really warm this afternoon. by noon 77 but again any time around noon and beyond we will be looking at periods of heavy rain perhaps a couple of gusty thunderstorms. your high today 79 degrees and by 6 o'clock, still holding onto the mid 70's. karen, it looks like more heavy rain tonight. i'll have details with future tracker 6 showing it all to you in about six minutes. >> all right, dave, no weather related problems then for your morning commute just a couple sprinkles david talked about here or there. looking live at the blue route mid county northbound traffic just a few cars headed to the turnpike. roads here clear and dry with no problems on the blue route. we're getting more details about this accident though in

oxford, chester county much watch for it on route 10 limestone road which they have closed in both directions at 926. if you're in this area stick to homeville road as your alternate. we're now hearing this accident also brought down a pole and wires. peco already on the scene at this point but when it knocks down a pole it takes a little longer to clear so this could be an issue for much of your morning commute. watching for it in oxford chester county. over all looking at the big picture not seeing any accidents on your main roads, the schuylkill, i-95, speeds in the 50's and in pretty good shape. don't forget fleetwood mac tonight at 8:00 p.m. in south philadelphialy you'll see a lot of congestion there. take the sports express trains at 6:08 and 6:18. as you're headed out the door things are looking pretty good matt and tam. >> thanks so much karen. we have breaking news on the ebola emergency here in the united states. a second hospital worker at a dallas hospital has tested positive for the disease and this obviously brings into large question what was going on at that hospital to try and prevent this very thing from

happening. "action news" reporter erin o'hearn is live at the big board with more on this breaking story. erin. >> reporter: matt, this is really just devastating news coming in. the second healthcare worker who cared for the first ebola patient diagnosed in the united states reported a fever tuesday and was immediately isolated at the hospital. officials just confirmed that individual did test positive for the disease. those results came in around midnight. now, health officials have interviewed the latest patient to quickly identify any contacts or potential exposures and those people will be monitored. now the preliminary ebola test was run late tuesday at the state public health laboratory in austin, texas. and this news comes on the heels of the cdc admitting its response to the first ebola case in texas was not sufficient. the organization also admits that nina pham the nurse who contracted the disease after treating thomas eric duncan may have never fallen ill if experts had been on the ground from the very beginning.

so the cdc is vowing to change its practices to prevents another nurse or doctor from getting the disease. the cdc will now send a rapid response team to any hospital that diagnosis an ebola patient. meanwhile thousands of nurses across the country are expected to join a conference call this afternoon to talk about how their hospitals are preparing to treat ebola cases. the nurses' union is pointing the finger at texas presbyterian hospital claiming it was not prepared to deal with an ebola patient and that's how pham got infected and it will likely blame the hospital for this new case. again, just breaking, a second healthcare worker who cared for the first ebola patient in the u.s. has contracted ebola. very frightening for all of us but especially those medical personnel on the front lines. tam. >> okay, erin, we know that you're keeping an eye on this and will bring us any more as it comes in. developing overnight philadelphia police are working on two cases right now including a confrontation with a murder suspect as well as the search for a shooter.

"action news" reporter katherine scott is live outside of police headquarters. she's got the very latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tam. that's right, obviously philadelphia police working on a number of cases. we have two to tell you about from police headquarters this morning. i'm going to start with an argument that turned into a double shooting in olney. multiple 911 calls came in around 12:30 this morning. at least 20 shots were fired at third and whelan street. when police got there they found a big crowd an large number of shell casings. two people went to einstein a20-year-old man was grazed in chest and a 23 ye old man was shot in the hip. they are both lift in there stable condition. four parked cars were hit by bullets. bullets hit three homes on whelan but no one inside those homes was struck. police are conducting interviews and they're looking for evidence that could provide more details in this case. >> fortunately in addition to witnesses, we found a school as well as some businesses in

the area that have exterior cameras. so, hopefully these cameras recorded something that can help us with our investigation. >> reporter: and the next case i'm going to tell you about is out of northeast philadelphia. a suspect police were looking for in a previous homicide almost struck two 15th district officers with a car. the officers were not injured. police didn't specify which case this suspect is connected to, but we do know around 3:00 a.m. on the 2600 block of elbridge street the suspect nearly hit the two officers, he got away in a 2001 pearl colored pontiac grand prix with rear bumper damage. the suspect was last seen heading east on bridge street from aramingo. call police with tips in either of these cases. we're live from police headquarters, katherine scotts, channel6 "action news." >> all right, katherine thank you for that. developing now a man from 15 feet from this crumpled car is fighting for this life. the vehicle flipped over on roosevelt boulevard in northeast philadelphia after police say the driver hit a

tree. accident investigators spent the night on that scene. >> 5:36 now. and we have new information on an amber alert in trenton that has been resolved. police say the five-year-old girl was found safe in a relative's home. police say the mother first told them that she had left her daughter jania davis in her running suv last night to go into a business and that a woman drove away with the suv and jania. about three hours later a relative of the child in trenton called police and said the little girl was sleeping at her house. police found the child there unharmed. >> first the kid is found safe so we're happy about that 'cause it could be a lot worse circumstances. yes, we did a lot of resources and we'll do it again if need be, okay. however, if that -- if it was a false report, then the individual who reportd that is going to have to, you know, face the consequences. >> police are talking to the girl's mother to determine why she reported a carjacking. >> the search continues this morning for a missing jet skier at the jersey shore.

police say 68-year-old thomas graham left the marina out of the stone harbor section in middle township around 2:30 yesterday afternoon. they're asking anyone who has seen him or his silver black and white wave runner to please call with that information. new this morning, the national weather service has confirmed two tornadoes touched down in georgia. the same storm front is responsible for this damage in north carolina. this is new video of an overturned car trapped in flushing flood waters. the two passengers made it out okay and so did the owners of the c.v. they needed rescuing when heavy wind brought a tree down onto their trailer. >> the same system now moving through pennsylvania already. >> yeah, it is starting to come into western pennsylvania. it will be here with some chunks of heavy rain late this morning, better chance off and on through the afternoon and tonight and it's a good time to remind people that if you run into flooded roads around here don't drive through them, turn around and find another way. storm tracker 6 live double scan shows i was little thin line of rain pushing up through harrisburg and to the

west of lancaster. that's all heading toward the north so not an immediate threat for us. and as we take a look outside, we do have a fair amount of cloud cover out there. might see some sunshine early today. but as we get later into the morning and afternoon, the clouds thicken up and then the rain arrives. temperatures 70 degrees, dewpoint 75. that number indicates muggy air out there. the winds out of the east-southeast at 6 miles per hour and i'm going to go ahead and bring in that always on day planner for you so you can kind of check out how the rest of the day is going to go. future tracker showing you the rain right now and as we go into the late morning hours, again mainly to the west of philadelphia by 11:00 or maybe lunchtime there is the chance of some heavy downpours that begin to develop and some of these could even produce some thunderstorms with gusty winds. now, as we get later into the afternoon, 2, 3 o'clock this starts to push closer to philadelphia in the latest model run. allentown also not too far away from it. parts of delaware and south jersey also being affected. model still wants to give us a little bit of a lull late today and in through the rush hour although roads will still be wet and any gusty winds may

have still put down some debris on roads so not a great commute. later in through the evening and later after night more showers popping through and another line of thunderstorms possible in time for adam joseph and cecily tynan to show them to you on channel 17 at 10:00 and here on 6abc at 11:00. a rock and roll afternoon at times. same thing later tonight. total rainfall out of this, it looks like a general one to two is possible although some areas on the model could go up over three depending on where these heavy bands happen to set up. model sort of thingsing most of that will be out to the west of us. we'll see how that plays out. in terms of threats from this system, downpours and street flooding and poor drainage flooding definitely high on the list. gusty winds moderate chance of that where thunderstorms develop and pretty low chance of tornadoes or hail out of this. as we take a look at temperatures, it's going to be warm and on the humid side today. 72 by 8 o'clock, 76 by 11 o'clock and your high of 79 at 2 o'clock probably holding that through about 3:00, 3:30 this afternoon. high temperatures warm and

we're at 70 in center city. 68 in quakertown. 69 in saint davids. feeling very mild out there. 71 in hammonton, 72 in glassboro, 71 right now in dover, matt. >> thank you, karen. newly released police dash cam video showing what led to a north jersey police officer being dragged by a car last week. ridge field police say officer kevin nebia stopped the gray honda odyssey belonging to denny oh at a police check point. oh took off dragging officer nebia75 feet. the officer was able to free himself but suffered a broken arm. oh was quickly arrested. and happening today one time philadelphia police hero richard decoatsworth will be in court for a pretrial hearing on domestic violence charges involving his girlfriend. decoatsworth was freed from jail last month when the district attorney dropped rape charges against him involving two prostitutes. decoatsworth was hailed as a hero as a member of the philadelphia police force.
