philadelphia. light green out to the west of the region. all of that is pushing towards the north and not an immediate threat. satellite and radar showing you not only the cloud cover thicker out to the west but also that heavier rain coming in and we are expecting some of that to arrive later this morning. the bulk of it later this afternoon and then again tonight. 68 degrees is the current temperature. we've dipped a little bit in philadelphia. 70 in allentown, 71 in wilmington. but again, pretty mild for this time of year and a bit on the humid side. heading out the door over the next couple hours to catch that school bus, looks like it's mainly dry, partly cloudy, 71 degrees by 7:00 and 72 by 8:00 a.m. might see a little bit of early sunshine squeezing in. kids today is the day to have that storm tracker 6 app on your smartphone that and the 6abc news app always a good idea but this afternoon you can use this app to check out live radar and see where the rain locally is heading in. it does look like by noon some of us are going to get wet, 77 degrees. by 3 o'clock warm, 79. but the chances very good at 3

o'clock of heavy downpours, maybe a thunderstorm. by 6 o'clock we may get into a little bit more of a lull but i have to allow for at least some rain. we'll have future tracker 6 coupling up in a couple minutes karen to show you exactly where it looks like the rain is going to be this afternoon. >> we'll watch that rain as it can comes in. for now looking pretty good with your morning commute. this is a live look at the boulevard near fox street. southbound traffic headed towards the schuylkill moving nicely with no problems at this point on the boulevard. speeds overall on the blue route and schuylkill mostly in the 50's. on i-95 starting to see about 44 miles an hour southbound as you head near cottman, just the beginning of that slowdown that you know is going to come. over in chester county we've got this accident brought down pole and wires so they shut down route 10, that's limestone road, closed in both directions at 926. if you're in this area stick to homeville road as your alternate matt and tam. >> thank you karen. and we are breaking news from dallas, texas. a second healthcare worker has now tested positive for the ebola virus. the healthcare worker reported

a fever yesterday and was immediately aisles lated at texas health presbyterian hospital. the worker had helped to care for thomas eric duncan, the first ebola patient diagnosed in the u.s. health officials have interviewed the newest patient to identify any contacts or potential exposures. those people will then be monitored. officials have not yet determined exactly how many people are going to be on that list. >> this is all new. we are learning new details about a graphic and what some may describe as disturbing antiabortion rally set to take place right outside the liberty bell this week. erin o'hearn is tracking these new developments. >> this is a controversial issue an an emotional issue and this latest move by an antiabortion group may raise some serious questions about how it's choosing to execute its message. now, starting on friday, the group created equal will begin broadcasting abortions using the large jumbo tv screens in several locations. the ohio-based group has

received a permit to project extremely graphic images next to the liberty bell and the images will be on a continuous loop from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on friday. the group's national director says he is aware independence mall is a big draw for families with children. so apparently there will be warning signs so parents can avoid the images. now, a public affairs officer for independence national historical park says the agency does not consider content when it permits assemblies or activities which in itself may be upsetting to some families who visit the area. again, the group will have this rally broadcasting graphic images of abortions starting on friday right near the liberty bell from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on a continuous loop, likely to cause some major controversy in this area. back to you. >> indeed, erin. we have posted more information on this story on the "action news" facebook page. hit the like button so you can start your day with all the

morning's top stories weather updates and viral videos. >> developing this morning police are looking for the gunman who fired off a barrage of bullets in a philadelphia neighborhood and that ended with two people wounded. and as well the search is also on for a murder suspect who tried to run down two officers. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live at the police headquarters. she's got the latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tam. that's right, another busy night for philadelphia police. i have two cases to tell you about so i'm just going dive right in with the first one which is out of northeast philadelphia. in this case, suspect police were looking for in a previous homicide almost hit two 15th district officers with a car. the officers escaped without injury. police didn't specify which case this homicide suspect is connected to but around 3:00 a.m. on the 2600 block of elbridge street, police say the suspect nearly hit the two officers, he fled in a 2001 pearl colored pontiac grand prix with rear bumper damage. he was last seen heading east

on bridge street from aramingo. there is the second case i'm going to tell you about. that one is out of olney. an argument ended with at least 20 shots fired. two men are in the hospital. they're both in stable condition. 911 calls lit up the lines around 12:30 this morning when police arrived to third and whelan street they found a large crowd and a lot of shell casings scattered across the block. two men went to einstein by private vehicles, a 20-year-old man he was grazed in the chest and a 23-year-old man, he was shot in the hip. four parked cars were hit by bullets. bullets hit three homes on whelan. no one inside those homes were hit. police are working on gathering more detailed descriptions of the suspects. >> shooters are described only as two males who fled on foot north through a rear alley behind third street from whelan. these two males possibly entered a white vehicle which fled in an unknown direction

reporter: and there are several surveillance cameras nearby that shooting scene in olney so police are hoping they captured some footage that can can help in this investigation, help them get more detailed descriptions of those suspects. if you have any tips in either of these cases, philadelphia police want to hear from you. we're live in police headquarters, katherine scott, channel6 "action news." >> okay, katherine, thanks. new on "action news" here, the drug problem in central pennsylvania has hit a chilling new low. police say the latest victim to die from an overdose was just nine years old. the boy's caretaker, victor hair now faces charges. he tells police in northumberland county that the nine year old mixed oxycontin, marijuana and alcohol. authorities say hair tried to perform cpr on the child for 40 minutes before calling 911. grief counselors are now on hand at the victim's elementary school to help classmates cope with the loss. >> apple and facebook have announced brands new benefits packages and it's targeted directly at getting more women into their ranks.

maribel aber is live at the nasdaq in times square. these are some interesting benefits, maribel. >> reporter: interesting great way to say that, tam. facebook and apple actually paying their employees their female employees to freeze their eggs. facebook is already covering the procedure as part of its insurance benefits. apple plans to offer coverage starting in january. and freezing eggs is really a theme as a way for women to put fertility on hold. mixed day for the u.s. stock market as the dow gained back big gains and finished lower. futures pointing to a lower open and macy's is kicking off black friday on thanksgiving. the retailer will open doors at 6:00 p.m. on the holiday to try to get a jump on plaque friday -- black friday shoppers. six hours earlier than macy's over last year's time. macy's says the employees working thanksgiving have all volunteered for the shift. matt and tam i will be spending thanksgiving way eating eating. >> yeah, most people will but i tell you what, they open the doors and people come.

afternoon there is the chance of some showers popping up. really late this morning into lunchtime especially out in the northern suburbs, that's where the model wants to put it. you can notice how some of this stuff is heavy downpours that could produce some pretty quick ponding and puddling on roads, maybe some poor drainage area flooding and there could be a gusty thunderstorm mixed in. we get up to 2 or 3 o'clock and this stuff is pushing in even closer to philadelphia and then for the rest of the afternoon it looks wet for a time. there is the chance of a lull around dinnertime but then later tonight more showers build back in and we could be looking at some more thunderstorms between 10 and 11 o'clock when adam joseph will be on channel 17 and cecily tynan here on channel ch6 showing you the late he have on storm tracker 6 live radar and of course that double scan technology really can comes in handy when you're looking at the potential for heavy downpours and thunderstorms. how much rain? models vary as they usually do. looks like anywhere from about three-quarter of an inch of rain up to maybe 2-inches or more. i could see some areas that pick up repeated heavy downpours going as high as

3-inches, that wouldn't be out of the question. allentown sun, clouds, afternoon rain and maybe thunderstorms. 76 degrees is the forecast high in allentown area today. down the shore we're going to go for a high of 74, clouds mixing with some sun early potentially but then afternoon clouding up and those heavy downpours and thunderstorms possible. rain is going to be heavy enough to produce some poor drainage area flooding anywhere it hits today. clouds and sun early in philadelphia and then rain and a thunderstorm mixing in, a muggy high of 79 degrees, periods of rain today and tonight. temperatures are going to be going from the low 70's in the morning to the upper 70's in the afternoon. and again, the farther we get past noon the better chance you have of those spotty but heavy downpours building in. now, overnight tonight, we look at more rain and by 4:30 in the morning on future tracker 6 tomorrow morning, you can see that there's still some additional stuff that we'll have to show you on radar but it does look like this gets out of here during the morning rush hour and the rest of the day we see improvement. quickly we want to take a look

>> let's head on over to karen rogers. it's starting to get a little busy out there. good morning. >> it is. we have a new problem coming in montgomery county, it's a water main break. police are telling me that crews are on the scene and they're waiting for the water company to arrive here so watch for it on south locust street at wissahickon avenue. that's kind of a residential area but right nearby is butler which is a little more traffic in that area and it could impact traffic on butler as well so just something to keep an eye on in montgomery county. we had a couple of other accidents that have since cleared. south henderson road now reopened near king of prussia. no problems there as well as this accident told you bo you in limerick. it's clear now. evergreen road moving nicely. let's see what it looks like 422 at trooper, this is your eastbound traffic right here. you could see maybe a little tap of the brakes at 23 but not terribly slow just yet. roads here are dry at this point. we've been watching for a sprinkle or a shower around but the real rain comes later today and the late day into the evening so your evening hours, rain is going to be an issue and it could be heavy at

times. 72 in pottstown. normally for an overnight hour this time of year we get about 48 degrees in the overnight hour. we're at 70 in center city so really is feeling like summer. 70 in hammonton, 71 in some spots, 72 already in glassboro. 71 in dover. just like yesterday, a high today of 79 except the difference is the rain that's coming, matt. >> thanks, karen. a montgomery county jury spent only four hours to decide that raghunandan yandamuriian should be executed for his crimes. the 28-year-old convicted killer took a sip of water while the jury announced its verdict last night. the same jury convicted him of killing saanvi venna and her 61-year-old grandmother. prosecutors say he murdered them during a botched kidnapping. the judge will issue yandamuri's official sentence in about 45 days. >> pennsylvania state police commissioner says he is very concerned that the suspected cop killer eric frein will try to kill again. commissioner frank noonan 17 a news conference last month

made the comments to lawmakers in harrisburg yesterday while updating them on the search for frein. police believe 14 is hiding in a heavily wooded area in the poconos near his parents' home in the town of canadensis. investigators say frein shot and can killed a state police officer and wounded another one on september 12th outside a state police barracks. a hearing is scheduled today for the 10-year-old boy from wayne county pa accused of murdering a 90-year-old woman. this happened in the town of tyler hill. police say the child held a cane against helen novak's throat and then repeatedly punched her while she was in bed. investigators say the boy got angry with novak for yelling at him. the child's grandfather was caring for novak. the boy has been charged as an adult. he's being held without bail. in court papers his mother stated that her son has mental difficulties and that he had been violent in the past. >> 6:18 now. the uninvited guest. surveillance video captures a man at a connecticut wedding helping himself to the bride and groom's gifts.

at this point but the wider view on satellite shows you the more significant rain out to the west. there's another batch just off the screen down to the south and later this morning and especially in through the afternoon and then again later tonight we will be getting periods of heavy downpour-producing rain. 68 degrees in philadelphia right now. 69 in trenton. and a lot of low 70's on the map. so, unseasonably mild to start out. a little bit muggy out there especially as we get a little past day break as we have dewpoints in the mid 60's and that indicates humid air. and if we are head to school or work or anywhere else here's what the smartphone says. by 8 o'clock at 72. by noon 77. storm tracker 6 app three on your smartphone will be a handy tool this afternoon because we are looking at periods of heavy rain and some of it could be falling as the kids are getting out of school today and perhaps a little bit more around the time we get out of work. when i come inside we'll have the latest on future tracker 6 showing you how this rain is going to enter the picture and how it departs karen. >> all right, david, this accident on the schuylkill

causing problems. we're seeing travel times grow in both directions a 28 minute ride eastbound from the blue route to the vine. you see this accident blocking the left lane. penndot has the arrow board out. this is the schuylkill eastbound as you approach belmont. ahead we've got the right shoulder blocked so traffic has got to snake around this and that the what's creating the backup. westbound you have the gaper delay. look at the shot of the schuylkill at conshohocken. you are really jammed at this point from the blue route to belmont. you see here lie look at conshohocken that eastbound traffic just crawling along with that accident up ahead at the belmont on the schuylkill eastbound so watch for that. let's talk about some other problems right there. there you see those slow speeds on the schuylkill down to 16 miles an hour at this point. i-95 it's your normal morning volume but starting to jam up. 24 miles an hour southbound at cottman. 21 miles an hour southbound right now on girard and the vine getting heavy as well now as you lead over to the schuylkill traveling westbound. also we have this water main break in ambler causing a problem. crews are on the scene on south locust street at

wissahickon avenue and after last report police said they're on the scene but they're still waiting for the water crew to arrive to help fix this problem matt. >> thanks karen. we have breaking information on the ebola emergency here in the united states. a second hospital worker at a dallas hospital has tested positive for the disease. "action news" reporter erin o'hearn is lie at the big board with more on this. erin imyeah, this is devastating news just coming in. the second healthcare worker who cared for the first ebola patient diagnosed in the united states reported a fever tuesday and was immediately isolated at a hospital. officials just confirmed that individual did test positive for the disease. those results came in around midnight. now, health officials have interviewed the latest patient to quickly identify any contacts or potential exposures and those people will be monitored. this news can comes on the heels of the cdc admitting its response to the first ebola case in texas was not sufficient. the organization also admits nina pham the nurse who contracted the disease after

treating thomas eric duncan may have never fallen ill if experts had been on the ground from the very beginning. so, the cdc is vowing to change its practices to prevent another nurse or doctor from getting the disease. the cdc will now sandy rapid response team to any hospital which diagnosed an ebola patient. tuesday night the nurse's union claims that nurses from texas health presbyterian hospital say there was a lack of training and preparation for treating a patient with ebola. some of the claims include that thomas duncan was left for several hours in the general population of the hospital even though he was showing symptoms of ebola and that initial nurses were not required to wear specialized masks and face shields. now, the hospital says it has numerous measures in place to provide a safe working environment but abc's dr. richard besser believes the possibility exists that the cdc has identified a major break in infection and control practices. besser also takes issue with the larger approach to this

trenton called police and said the little girl was sleeping at her house. police found the child there unharmed. >> first the kid is found safe so we're happy about that because it could be a lot worse circumstances. yes, we did a lot of resources and we'll do it again if need be, okay. however, if that -- it was a false report, then the individual who reportd that is going to have to, you know, face the consequences. >> police are talking to the girl's mother to determine why she reported a carjacking. >> and in accuweather today we're talking a lot about rain because it could be really heavy at times. >> yeah, then could produce problems for drivers. don't drive through any flooded areas. turn around and find another way. storm tracker 6 live double scan shows you very little rain out there right now. might be getting parts of western chester county clipped by a light sprinkle but that's about it much as we take a look outside, we have mainly cloudy skies with some sunny breaks across the region. does look like there is some clearing down at the shore. and i could see some early sun today before we cloud up a little bit later in the day.

68 degrees is your current temperature in philadelphia. and oddly enough that's actually one of the cooler spots. we have a lot of low 70's across the region. your dewpoint 65. winds are out of the east at 5 miles per hour and i have brought in there always-on day planner for you to check ahead a little bit as we go through the day as to what's coming next. future tracker 6 is showing you how cloud cover will thicken in the morning. late around lunchtime there is the possibilities of some showers digging in especially to the western suburbs and some of these could produce some of those heavy downpours that tam was just talking about and maybe even a gusty thunderstorm. then we get later into the afternoon, two, 3 o'clock and there's more of this stuff coming up from the south and looks like philadelphia will be closer to this. parts of south jersey and delaware could be affected by them, perhaps areas just to the west of allentown and again this is the model projection. it's not necessarily exact. and we could see this shifting a little to the east or west but i think future tracker is doing a pretty good job of preparing you for those heavy downpours beginning early this

afternoon maybe late this morning to the west. the model wants to give us a little bit of a lullaby dinnertime. roads will still be wet if this was the case and you might still have debris in the roads from some of those heavy downpours. later tonight another batch of showers and thunderstorms looks likely. between 10 and 11 o'clock when a adam and cecily on air they may well have more to show you on storm tracker 6 live double scan. anywhere you get these heavy downpours you're looking at poor drainage area flooding and perhaps some gusty winds. total rainfall pretty impressive. some spots could go over three but we think a general two-thirds of an inch up to about one or 2-inches is probably what most of you get. if it comes down fast and furious enough it could produce some of that flooding. storm threats out of this? downpours and street flooding definitely seem like good bets where this rain sets up. gusty winds and a moderate chance of that where you get a thunderstorm, low chance any tornadoes or hail out of this. as we take a look at temperatures through the day, we're going to start out in the low 70's and wind up in the upper 70's. the later you go through afternoon and evening the

better chance you have of those periods of heavy rain. 79 is your high. high temperatures up in the lehigh valley area mid 70's so still fairly mild there. and mid 70's down the shore as well. and then overnight tonight more of this rain continues to plow through. this is future tracker picking the story up at 1:30 in the morning on thursday. by 4:30 in the morning when we're back on the air here on 6abc, storm tracker will probably be bringing you more alive images of some lingering rain, downpours and thunderstorms but it does look like all of this clears out fairly quickly during the morning rush hour. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, 79 is today's high. it's muggy. we'll have periods of rain and thunderstorms through the afternoon and tonight. and then rain ending quickly on thursday, 72 with some sun late in the day. after that, it looks good. partly sunny on friday, 70. lots of sun on saturday with a high of 69. on sunday, we're probably cooling back down into the upper 50's but, hey, at least it's dry and then we stay cool going into early next week. so, for those few of you out there who can't stand this return of summer don't worry.

>> it is 6:45 and we have additional information on our breaking news story. this is a live picture from dallas at an apartment complex and it is our understanding that this is the residence of that second ebola person or healthcare worker to be diagnosed overnight. they're searching it the see if maybe they need to clean this area, maybe they need to talk to more people in case other people are infected. this is another misstep with this dallas hospital that originally sent home that first ebola patient. we will have much more on this coming up on "good morning america" at 7:00 a.m. >> all right, we'll get there in a few minutes. right now let's go over to karen rogers and red lights on the early morning commute not good. >> it's a mess. this is our latest accident. the schuylkill expressway westbound. i was just watching as you were talking because we had the police walk across hold traffic while they put the cars involved off to the side. this is the schuylkill expressway westbound here near belmont. police are out here blocking

the left lane. just a second ago they moved the vehicles involved off to the right shoulder. so we are jammed on the schuylkill and i want to show you these travel times from the blue route to the vine, it's a 44 minute ride. westbound it's 32 minute ride. very heavy delays. normally it would be about 17 minutes so it's taking you a lots longer and here's why. that was one accident on the schuylkill web. here's another accident on the schuylkill eastbound in generally the same place, this one approaching belmont. we could see police and penndot out here on the scene. they've got the arrow board out. they're blocking the left lane here but they're also blocking the right shoulder just like that other accident. you've got the left lane and the right shoulder in each direction of the schuylkill expressway blocked near belmont. so you see how traffic is really slow in this area and jammed because of it. as we go to the big picture you can kind of get a sense of the jam-up here. we're traveling about 9 miles an hour westbound on the schuylkill expressway or eastbound on the schuylkill expressway as you head from the blue route really even slowing past 202 now but from

the blue route down past belmont and about 6 miles an hour on the schuylkill as you head westbound towards the westbound accident. so, traveling in the single digits on both sides of the schuylkill because of this accident. also here on i-95, 23 miles an hour at cottman. 19 miles an hour near girard. that's just your normal morning slowing but it's pretty significant. storm tracker 6 live double scan showing that heavy rain has not arrived. that's going to come later on this afternoon but we are starting to get a little wet on 422 near reading. we've been seeing it out to the west near honeybrook, near the pennsylvania turnpike and looking at this live radar we can look to our southwest as well near wilmington starting to see some sprinkles so a couple things that we're keeping an eye on near newark and heading towards wilmington and chadds ford but the heavy stuff comes later today into tonight, matt. >> all right, thank you, karen. this is new on "action news." five ohio teens are facing criminal charges for dumping a bucket of bodily fluids and tobacco on a classmate with autism.
