there's a chance of an additional shower popping up this afternoon, that's few and far between. matt pellman you have a lot lights on the roads that's not good. >> reporter: a lot of flashing lights. good morning to you and everybody, it's not a good morning on the schuylkill expressway eastbound side past montgomery drive as you head toward girard avenue. there was a roll-over accident about a half-hour ago. no eastbound traffic is getting by as you come away from the boulevard, we have the traffic parked for a half-hour. they have some of the westbound lanes blocked, but luckily they have reopened them. heading out of the city toward the boulevard an king of prussia you can get by now. eastbound you're dealing with slow speeds and you're not getting through heading toward the city. think about using the river drive they will be slippery with the wet leaves. bail at city avenue and take belmont on into girard from

parkside south in wymissing. he started a sleeping person by jumping on the bed. he pulled out a gun he keeps under his pillow and meant to put a scare into the man and the two struggled. the gun went off killing the man. he is charged with involuntary manslaughter. happening today the philadelphia federation of teachers is holding a demonstration before the school reform commission meeting. the union is protesting the decision to cans the pft contract and impose changes to healthcare benefits. the decision will save the district $50 million this year. >> lawmakers in new jersey are looking beyond just pulling levers at casinos to add more gaming revenue. maribel abers is live would your

schuylkill expressway eastbound near dwird -- near girard, it's been fatal.expressway eastbound an hour ago the vehicle flipped over. that accident has been judged to be fatal. you can see the see the backup on the roads. >> matt when we have fatal crashes they tend to take longer to clear. >> reporter: that's right, authorities have to get out there to investigate what happened in the accident. the good news they are letting the left lane get by the accident scene on the eastbound side of the schuylkill expressway heading toward center city. this is causing a mammoth delay. this is east of montgomery drive between there and girard avenue. thing alternates. the delays from the schuylkill expressway eastbound crash are spilling back on the boulevard south of fox street hitting the brakes down to 76. you can seem the traffic barely

>> reporter: i need everybody to do me a favor and keep the expectations nights and low for the -- nice arena low for the morning commute. i-76 eastbound we have a fatal accident between montgomery and girard, the left lane is slowly creeping by heading toward center city. you're facing a parking lot as you come east of belmont through the scene east of montgomery drive. emergency crews remain on the scene investigating. the eastbound delay is spilling back on the boulevard jammed solid barely moving from south of broad to the schuylkill expressway. you need to think alternates to the eastbound side of 76 the obviously one being the river drives, the kelly and mlk they are slippery especially with the wet leaves. if you're in a truck you can't use the river drives, take belmont into girard. this is causing local routing on

the septa bus routes. i-95 southbound we had earlier repairs to a broken grate. morris road is closed. skippack pike is an alternate. that's just the tip of the iceberg, matt. >> we continue our coverageful breaking traffic storage, katherine scott is live over the schuylkill expressway on the strawberry mansion bridge. what do you see? >> reporter: fire department officials confirmed that one person has died, from where we are on the strawberry mansion bridge you can see major backups, there are a lot of tail lights there, cars jammed packed they are not going anywhere

quickly. from time to time officials do seem to be letting a lane go by, this is going very slowly. you can't see the accident from here. ful that's up ahead, but again, the backup guess for miles. the crash happened around 5:15 between montgomery drive and girard on the schuylkill expressway. a vehicle overturned up ahead, the fire department confirmed we have a fatality. the exact circumstances surrounding the crash haven't been released. there's no word on the victim's identity. again, avoid this area, eastbound lanes blocked nearby montgomery avenue. they seem to be letting some cars by from time to time, but there are lane closures here. if you want to avoid this area, matt pellman is giving you up dates on the alternates. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> two armed robbers held up a 7-eleven in the city's wissinoming section at 2:30 a.m.

at harbison and torresdale. they got the cash register and fled on foot. >> the second nurse infected with ebola has been flown to emory university hospital in atlanta. curiously one of the people by her side as she boarded wasn't wearing a haz/mat suit it was very strange. officials have not given a reason why that was. the nurse 29-year-old amber vincent came down with ebola after helping to care for thomas eric duncan who died in dallas last week. the day before vincent was hospitalized, somebody from the cdc gave her permission to fly on a commercial plane despite the fact she had a low-grade fever. the head of the cdc said that was a mistake. >> she was in a group of individuals known to have

time they get into the office. ful traffic is a mess. on the schuylkill expressway it's a parking lot we're dealing with from belmont through this point just past montgomery drive. this is where the accident happened at 5:15, a vehicle rolled over, as we said one person lost their life. just the left lane is getting by heading eastbound toward center city this morning. this is causing huge delays on the southbound roosevelt boulevard, on city avenue heading toward the schuylkill expressway. any road joining up with 76 will be clogged this morning. let's talk about the alternates, how to get around the mess with the left lane getting by with speeds at 7 miles per hour. avoid it. use the river drives, think outside the box and use roads like route 30, lancaster avenue coming into the city. or ridge avenue going through north philadelphia. if you're heading eastbound on the schuylkill expressway and

you're a truck driver you can't use some of the river drivers and local road, bail at city avenue and take it from belmont to girard and get back to the eastbound side of the schuylkill expressway. we'll keep watching that situation, we've been watching the situation eye long i-95. we had a problem with the grates in the construction zone southbound at cot plan. cottman. it kind of caused a hole and crews were repairing it. one of my favorite roads balligomingo shut down because of downed wires, use 320 as your alternate. montgomery county community college the bad crash is closing morris road. we have breaking news from washington state. police arrested a man firing at

police and police stations overnight. the suspect and one officer were injured, but it's unclear if they were injured because they were shot. >> new at 6:30 police say a child turned on her own father for an elaborate drug operation. she filed an abuse claim on tuesday. when police showed up they found large marijuana plants inside. two children were living there, but police found no evidence they were physically harmed. the children are with different care take errs, the father is behind bars. >> a misunderstanding with police kept a pregnant woman from delivering her baby at the hospital. the father was rushing his wife to the hospital with police in hot pursuit. the couple tried to call 911, but it was too late.
