us with 6abc.com for the latest information. >> philadelphia police are searching for the armed gunmen who attacked and robbed temple university students in their home. it happened not far from the temple camp pus, katherine scott joins us outside central detective's with the details. >> reporter: sarah, the students were all freshmen and sophomores, one was injured and treated and released from the hospital. i spoke with one of the victims this morning when he said he and his friends were watching football and two men came into the apartment and held the men at gunpoint. this sophomore asked that we not show his face and described the ordeal. he said a roommate was outside having a cigarette around 7:30 p.m. when two men approached them armed with guns. >> he pushed him through the

doors up the steps and preceded to pistol whip him and hit him until he was unconscious. >> reporter: seven people were inside two locked themselves in their rooms while the rest were told to lie on the floor. investigators say the men demanded a safe. the victim said they stole two laptops, cellular phones, wall let's and xboxs and speakers. the men had bandana's covering their faces. one was wearing a bucks county community college sweatshirt. a university statement said preliminary findings indicate this was not a random act. a lot of students live along the block which is part of the temple police patrol zone. >> the cops came over and knocked on our door and let us know what happened if we heard anything or seen anything, we haven't.

>> reporter: the two men were last seen fleeing in a white car. there are surveillance cameras the hope is that there is footage that can help in the investigation. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." rick. >> chopper 6hd was above newark high school in newark, delaware after a huge fight broke out before school started. police say when they arrived more than 100 students were crowding the hallway to the cafeteria at 7:00. there were numerous fights going on between the students, 12 to 15 students were taken into custody. they will be released to their parents pending ran investigation and possibly charges. nobody was hurt in the fight, and the school day resumed to normalcy. bensalem police are investigating a crash that killed a person this morning. police say 23-year-old of croyden was driving south he want through the intersection and crashed into a

tractor-trailer that was turning from state road to street road. the driver was pronounced at the scene. the intersection of state and street road closed for much of the morning while police were investigating. four families are out of the home after a fire in atlantic county apartment building overnight. chopper 6hd was o unit block of mays landing road in somers point. firefighters were called to the somers point apartments. fire officials say a fire wall helped prevent the blaze from spreading further. the cause is now under investigation. there were no injuries. >> on the weather front this noon we had an early taste of winter this morning and the cooler temperatures definitely sticking around. outside we go live to sky6 live hd and the center city skyline. peeks of sunshine mixed with clouds this afternoon, definitely a day where you need a heavy jacket and meteorologist david murphy is outside the

studio with chilly details. i said you need a heavy jacket. >> reporter: i have a suit case and for a few moments that will do. we have chilly conditions and it feels more and more like fall. today is one of those days. taking a look at satellite we have high clouds sweeping across the region and we have sunshine for now. they get thicker later on and light sprinkles tonight. 57 degrees, a bit cooler in allentown, 51 there. upper 50s in millville and wilmington and we're sitting on 60 on the boardwalk in sea isle city and atlantic city. this afternoon we'll go for a high of 62 a few degrees below average. at night i'll point out we're going to 53 for the low that's above average that's an indication we'll get milder tomorrow. for today, though, it is on the cool side. 59 degrees by 2:00.

>> hello, again, here some of the stories we're following for you on "action news" this noon breaking news in the logan section of philadelphia where police are investigating a possible carjacking. window we're live with the latest from the scene. also several children are hurt in a school bulls crash in lancaster county. we have the details.

police make an arrest in the murder of a prison guard in her south philadelphia home. >> police remain on the scene of a possible carjacking in the logan section. david henry is live at the scene with the very latest. david. >> reporter: yeah, rick it started about a mile from here at 18th and ogontz and ended up here on ogontz avenue a short time later after police made chase. the car ran up this median strip the alleged carjacker, ran behind this apartment building and circled the building and came back out to this side where he was arrested by the police. surveillance video from inside the building shows he grabbed a gun from his pocket and tucked it into his waistband, when he

was arrested he didn't have the gun. you can see there was a lot of police activity in the neighborhood. the the carjacking began about a mile away at an a-plus mini market at 18th and ogontz. police chased the car ended up here jumping the median, smashing into several cars. the driver took off on foot, but he was apprehended. the driver of the carjacked automobile is well-known to the police, he has an expensive record of drugs and weapons offenses. he has been in and out of jail. they know him in the neighborhood. they are questioning the owner of the car. at this point we are told that the owner of the car is not cooperating with the police, he may know the carjackers. we're not sure what instigated all this. the suspect took off in the white pontiac and ended crashing it on ogontz avenue. he is in custody being processed

custody in connection with the murder of a prison guard last week. lottie denny was found stabbed inside her home on south 63rd street. police took her boyfriend, ronald jones into custody after he was pulled over after driving her vehicle without a license. he is not charged with the murder, but considered a suspect. a police source says jones was released from prison after serving 16 years. authorities are holding him on parol violation while they collect additional evidence. the world health organization sailed nigeria is free of the disease. it came to the biggest city from an airline passenger who carried ebola. in the end they suffered 20 cases and 8 deaths. most of the people in texas who were on the initial watch list

for ebola are in the clear. they passed the 21 day incubation period without showing any signs of the virus. >> to the middle east where u.s. war planes are keeping up strikes on the isis troops on the march. we have more from abc. >> reporter: u.s. airstrikes pounded isis target over the weekend in the bloody fight of the syrian city of kobani. supplies were dropped to help the kurdish forces who were under assault for weeks. a much-needed lifeline. brian wilson is fighting with the kurdish against isis. >> they are brave fighters they need more help. if they had better technology and better weapons they could do it on their own. >> reporter: le the supplies

come from kurdish authorities in iraq. u.n. authorities have confirming that the air dropped supplies have reached the militia. the u.s. wants to support the kurdish forces because in this battle the tide may be turning in the larger exain -- campaign against isis. >> if he continues to present us with major targets as he has done to the kobani area we'll service those targets and we've done so very, very effectively. >> reporter: american officials admit that kobani could fall but insist that the goal is to degrade isis as a whole and pound the lucrative captured oil facilities. one of the airstrikes was the supplies that had fallen outside the drop zone.

the goal is to make sure those supplies don't end up in isis' hands. >> back here the search for two armed robbers who terrorized the employees of chickee and meets. take a close look, one suspect is wearing a chickee and pete's shirt. they ordered the manager and three employees into the freezer. the suspect got away with the cash and the manager was a wedding rings. >> people caught with small amounts of marijuana in philadelphia will no longer end up with a criminal record. the new law went into effect at midnight. anyone caught with an ounce or less will be find with $25 instead of being arrested or getting a criminal record. using the drug in public will get violators an a 100-dollar fine or community service.

turning to accuweather we started off cold this morning. in fact some parts of our region felt temperatures below freezing. sky 6 looking live at atlantic city this noon. the sun is peeking through at times and the sun is warming things up a bit. david murphy is over at the big board with more from accuweather. >> reporter: it was a cold start, take a look at david from perkisie, pennsylvania, my twitter follower who tweeted this picture of the thermometer in the backyard. 39 degrees in philadelphia. even in the city we did manage to dip into the upper 30s briefly. the freezing mark in allentown, 33 in trenton. 30 in atlantic city, that was the low water mark. it was colder in atlantic city than it was in the poconos. it was a frosty morning with scattered frost and frost warnings. that is over, we have cloud cover obscuring the sun.

the clouds have get thicker and eventually we may catch the sprinkles and showers over in the east. that probably isn't until later tonight in most neighborhoods. temperatures are improving, 57 in pottstown, 54 in coatsville. if you're out in berks county or fleetwood you're in the low 50s, 50s on the nose in quakertown. close to 60 in center city and chester. we have 60 on the other side of the river. 62 in woodbine, down in smyrna, delaware, 60. not a lot of wind, but with the cloud cover buildings in it's a cool one, certainly. as we go through the rest of the afternoon, 62 by 4:00. 5:30, 59. and 7:00 p.m., 57. the clouds will be thicker by the evening rush we're likely looking at mostly cloudy skies. not a big need for sunglasses this afternoon, in most cases, but definitely the coat should be part of the package. >> all right, you said it,

60 by 55:00 p.m. 57 by 7:00 p.m. and 56 by 9:00 p.m. the low is 53 which is not bad. notice how we're not looking at lows in the 30s any more. at worst around 6:00 p.m., we'll be in the upper 40s or low 50s. future tracker in the afternoon shows an i be crease in temperature -- an increase in temperatures with philadelphia going up to 667 degrees by afternoon. future tractor sweeps the clouds out by midday. in the afternoon, especially the late afternoon hours and evening we'll be looking at pin wheeling areas of precipitation that could be spotty in nature, but the best chance of that is later tomorrow afternoon and thursday night is unsettled with a chance of rain at times.
