>> take a look at storm tracker 6 live double scan on the big board and we have a line of light precipitation that's popping through. most of this is highlighted in lighter shades of green, a little bit of yellow in northern berks county pushing up towards the northeast if you're in bucks county, montgomery county, berks county, a little around philadelphia and then this line entering south jersey you might run into a little sprinkle this morning but it doesn't look like it's going to last that long nor amount to all that much. we are going to be dealing with a fair amount of clouds today with occasional sunny breaks. you can see some breaks out to the west. there's additional cloud cover and a few more showers spinning through and while today is not a washout we will be on the lookout for a couple of spotty sprinkles and showers at times. 54 degrees in philadelphia, 51 in allentown, 54 in wilmington. 50 right now in trenton and even 60's down along the boardwalk in atlantic city and sea isle city. as we head out the door to catch that school bus this morning, it looks like it will be cool but not nearly as chilly as yesterday. 51 by 6 o'clock, 52 by 8 o'clock a light shower in a couple spots but probably not

enough to require you to go overboard on the rain gear today. 55 by 9 o'clock, still kind of cool there but we're going to get a little milder today than we were yesterday. 63 by noon. 67 by 3 o'clock. and then you see that high of 68. that will probably hold off until about 4 o'clock this afternoon before we're back down to 64 at 6 o'clock. we have a little before better chance of rain and drizzle tomorrow, karen. details coming up in that seven day. >> all right, dave. let's go outside in malvern chester county and check out 202 approaching 29. quiet here. the overnight construction is clear so all lanes reopened here on 202 and you've got no problem traveling. we've got some light showers out there so some of your roads a little bit damp as you're traveling. be careful of that. on the northeast extension northbound construction blocks the right lane so watch for that. approaching quakertown is kind of uneven with the construction they've been doing there so be careful as you're traveling over that one. burlington bristol bridge closed and this is for another half hour. they're doing a maintenance project each night this week as we have been warning you.

stick to the turnpike connector bridge. outside live we go, the ben franklin bridge not one but two right lanes blocked westbound as you come into the city but they always clear at least one of those lanes for us for the morning rush so we'll be looking better on the ben shortly. back to you. >> karen thanks. we begin with breaking news. south african paraolympian athlete oscar pistorius is set to learn his fate at any moment for the shooting death of his girlfriend. he could face as much as 15 years in prison. >> katherine scott is here with the latest. >> this decision could come down at any time. we're waiting to see if oscar pistorius will face any jail time for killing his girlfriend, reeva steenkamp. here's video from earlier this morning of pistorius arriving to the courthouse. the prosecution had called for a minimum 10 year sentence. the defense has argued for community service and house arrest for the 27-year-old olympic and paralympic track store. pistorius was convicted of

culpable homicide which is similar to what a manslaughter charge would be here in the u.s. he was cleared the murder. pistorius has said he shot his girlfriend by accident on valentine's day last year fearing that she was an intruder in his house. the judge told the packed courtroom when she began this morning that the defense decision was hers alone and that she had a lot of factors to take into account including personal circumstances and the interest of society. >> i am also duty bound to take into consideration the many types of punishment, mainly retribution, deterrence, prevention and rehabilitation. >> we're just getting breaking details right now. we're hearing that he's standing for sentencing and he has gotten five years imposed on culpable homicide. developments coming any moment now. of course we'll continue giving you them as we get them. we're live from the studio obviously. back to you guys. >> five years, wanted 15 so that's coming in. we'll keep you posted.

>> definitely. >> thanks katherine. developing overnight, a fire damaged a residential structure in the frankford section of philadelphia. the action cam was along the 2000 block of granite street at 12:30 a.m. took 15 minutes for firefighters to put it out. officials say the structure has apartments on the seconds floor. no one was hurt. >> a disagreement between several students at camden high school led to a brawl off school property. and as these things often are these days, the whole thing was caught on cell phone cameras. what makes this violence especially worrisome is nobody recording the fight tried to stop it. nine students pummeled two girls. they talked to "action news". >> i was feared. like i didn't know what to think. i didn't know what was going on. i just knew i was hitting someone and it felt like five different people hit meg at once. >> i was trying to see if i was going to survive or not. i couldn't see out of my eye. i'm surprised i can see today. when i first got done fighting

my eye was closed am i couldn't see anything. >> for now nine students are suspended for four days. police are investigating the incident. no arrests so far. >> the six-week long manhunt for an accused cop kill are in the poconos has taken a new turn. a law enforcement official reports seeger rick frein near the post office in swift water monroe county. following that lead, police canines moved in and tracked the man's scent of a back door at a nearby home. matt lives there and spoke to "action news." >> they're everywhere. there's probably like five or six cop cars in front here, pulled up and they all came out of the woods over here and -- yeah, they just all came up to me, told me what's going on, had to get in my house so i finally let them into my house and they searched. >> police have not confirmed if they believe frein was actually in that area. pocono mountain schools canceled evening activities yesterday because of the

search. police believe a highly credible sighting of frein took place in that same area on friday. eric frein is on the fbi's 10 most wanted fugitive list. the bureau is offering up to $100,000 for information directly leading to his arrest. if you have information log onto tips do dot fbi do the government or call the tubs hotline in an emergency though. you should always call 911. >> happening today malala yousafzai will receive the liberty medal at the national constitution center. she recently became the youngest winner of the nobel peace prize. she's just 17 years old. she was shot by the tack sandy taliban. she risked her life by speaking out against the taliban's treatment of women. the liberty medal will honor her courage. the widow of slain philadelphia police officer daniel faulkner will be on hand today for the signing of a victim rights bill. the bill signing will happen

at 13th and locust in center city. that's where mumia abu jamal murdered officer faulkner in 1981. abu jamaal addressed his college alma mater from his jail cell. >> now for your first look at business. safety officials are urging millions of families to take their cars to be repaired because of defective air bags that can explode without warning. the metal inflaters in the defective air bags can explode and propel deadly shrapnel. most of the air bags came from a takata plant in mexico. affected cars are made by honda, toyota, nissan, ford, gm and mitsubishi. it's a long list. i'll tweet out a link to see if your car is affected. turning to wall street stocks were higher in what can best be described as a quiet

trading day compared to last week. stock futures are in the red pointing to potential losses at the opening bell. consumer reports tester out apple's virtual wallet called apple pay that allows you to buy things with just tapping on the screen of one of the newest iphones. consumer reports say it could be safer than a physical credit card. >> apple pay creates dummy account numbers for each transaction so if a hacker gets to it the number is useless. no one ever gets to look at your name, real card number or the card security code. >> mikey, they like it so things are good. more than 200,000 stores accept apple pay so far. look for more. nydia, back to you. >> matt, thank you. here's some new stories you didn't see last night. a second north jersey football team has benched after some students on the team say they were bullied. plus, cameras caught this high speed chase through new york city. the suspect, you see him there, a horse. details are next.

anna has moved past the >> new this morning, hurricane effects are still being felt. a large sinkhole opened up. it measures about 20 feet wide, 40 to 50 feet deep. witnesses say it consumed a tree, almost swallowed a bmw sedan parked nearby. no one was hurt. rare stuff for the hawaiian islands. >> feels a lot warmer this morning. >> yeah, yesterday was just bone chillingly cold. not this morning. storm tracker 6 live double scan shows a couple sprinkles and showers around. notice how they're in light shades of green moving off to the northeast fairly quickly so a little damp in some spots this morning. south jersey appears to have the biggest coverage of that. as we take a look outside we have the airport and even though there were some sprinkles coming through the area of the airport a little while ago you can see the pavement is fairly dry. these are real light sprinkles coming through. 54 degrees is your current temperature in philadelphia, your dewpoint at 47. winds are calm so not a lot of

wind and we don't expect much today. as we get past the next maybe half hour, hour and a half that current rain is going to push off to the north and by noon we expect to be dry. might even bee some sunshine poking through. as we go later into the afternoon after say, four, 5 o'clock another round of showers which could be a little bit steadier where they hit is going to start to wrap through and that will continue on into the evening so that between 10:00 and 11 o'clock when adam and cecily are on the air there's still the possibility of seeing a bit of that. today is snot a washout as you just saw. all of these showers are few and far between pretty widely scattered. going to get milder today. we're already feeling better than yesterday. at 8 o'clock 52 which is quite a bit milder than yesterday. 61 by 11 o'clock. by 2 o'clock 66 and this afternoon not bad, a high of 68 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. a spotty shower around later in the afternoon and by 5 o'clock 66 is your temperature. high temperatures across the region, little bit of a range but not much. 68 in philadelphia. allentown probably holds in

the mid 60's and down the shore we'll also get up into the upper 60's. and then tomorrow especially in the morning and beyond this is future tracker 6 at 5 o'clock in the morning tomorrow, it does look like there's a better chance of off and on showers and probably a little bit more rain at times. might even be some steady rain at times on wednesday. that's the 8 o'clock view. and you can see how this kind of pin wheels around a low pressure center that will be sitting off the coast. by 3 o'clock there could still be additional showers and hopefully by 7:00 we're starting to die down. obviously the best chance of rain tomorrow. we are looking at rainfall alts -- amounts varying as we look ahead over the next three days. some models water mained to go over an inch, others holding at below an inch. most of the rain is on wednesday. might be a littlest over on thursday morning. your seven day mostly cloudy skies today, a high of 68 degrees. there is that chance of a spotty shower around. tomorrow periods of rain and drizzle, 61 degrees is the high. and again a better chance of a little bit more of that at times on wednesday. thursday it could still be

damp early but we're looking at possible improvement as the day goes on and a high of 57 degrees. after that we get into a nicer stretch of weather. friday breezy and nice 64. saturday really nice now, 67 degrees the high with partly sunny skies and lots of sun on sunday with a high of 66. okay? >> all right, david. katherine just delivered this news to us a couple minutes ago. wanted to reiterate what happened in that south african courtroom with cos aramis piss. his sentencing continues right now but we know he has received five years in prison for culpable homicide. the conviction that he received and that's basically like manslaughter here in the united states. he could have faced up to 15 years in prison so getting five years. the sentencing, though, continues. there should be more details coming out and we of course will be following them for you on "action news." >> and new on "action news" right now a new york city carriage horse kicked off a wild police chase through

hell's kitchen over the weekend after getting away from its handler. video shows the horse being chased by police after the horse bolted up 11th avenue. this isn't the first time a horse has gone running through the streets of manhattan and animal rights groups have pressed to get rid of the carriage horses. the horse was eventually captured and no one was hurt. >> new this morning bullying claims scrapped a high school football team season for a second time in north jersey. administrators at monroe woodbury high are investigating possible verbal abuse between players on the junior varsity team. five suspended football coaches at the sayreville school district will go before the school board tonight. the panel will decide whether or not to continue to ban the men from teaching and coaching during the internal investigation into teen hazing. seven sayreville players face sexual abuse charges for crimes against younger teammates. >> it is now 4:47. all new on "action news," a western pa cashier squashed a robbery when the bandit

can see them represented live with icons on the screen. here are the places you could see some delays and notice they're up and down the east coast but everywhere else looking good. just looking out for some rain showers and they're very spotty at this point. david and karen are watching out for that kind of stuff but logan international, new york city philadelphia also the d.c. area airports could see minor delays related to these rain showers. not going to be that big of a deal. miami dealing with thundershowers for the 8,000th straight dane so you can see a delay in flights there. everywhere else across the country, inchewinging the midwest, california, seattle, denver rocky mountain states everywhere else looking a-okay for flying today. nydia back to you. >> matt thank you. sweden's hunt for under water activity is kicking up. there have been credible sightings of something in the baltic sea. authorities aren't saying the sub is russian. russian forces have been accused of baltic area border violations in recent months.

this morning we're wait to go find out if remains found saturday afternoon belong to hannah graham. the university of virginia student disappeared last month. jesse matthew is charged with her disappearance. yesterday he was also indicted for a 2005 rape abduction and attempted murder outside of washington, d.c. police say dna has also linked matthew to morgan harrington. she was murdered five years ago after a metallica convert at uva. he has not been charged in that case. >> 4:53 now and still ahead in the next hour of "action news," a viral video of two children involved in a brutal street fight sparks a police investigation. >> a southern twang or lazy east coast diction. the winner of the

. >> ♪ . got a stinging surprise during an attempted robbery. a security camera caught a masked woman here walking into the berlin somerset county store. that's not her. this is a clerk. the store clerk anibel miller didn't think twice and armed her self with the closest thing in her reach, a can of raid bug spray. when the woman demand money, miller sprayed her and so she took off and is still on the loose. >> the pennsylvania supreme court has suspended a judge linked to the state government porn scandal. justice seamus mccaffery has apologized calling his actions a lapse in judgment. he's admitted to sending or receiving hundreds of e-mails containing sexually explicit content or pornography.

the judicial conduct board is now reviewing the matter. >> the people have spoken at least some of them. pittsburgh has been named the city with the nation's ugliest accent. the steel city beat out scranton by a 54 percent margin in the survey. the informal poll pointed to pronunciations like warsh instead of wash. the philadelphia accents had been in the running but pittsburgh beat it out in an earlier ground. >> a fashion icon has died. a family member has told abc news oscar day atlanta passed away. the circumstances surrounding his death are not clear but he was diagnosed with cancer in 2006. day atlanta was born in the dominican republic. most recently he created the wedding dress of amal george clooney's new wife. he was 82 years old. >> 4:57 and developing this morning oscar pistorius has learned his fate.
