"action news" is live on the scene. >> a monroe county man has been targeted more than once as the man police say ambushed state troopers last month but he's not the guy police are looking for. >> and we are tracking some showers in the region and how long they will hang around on this wednesday. good morning. good to see you all. it's 4:30 a.m. tam is off. karen o'hearn joins us. good morning, we have david and karen.

>> good morning. we're starting out wet as accuweather projected we would. there's a bands of rain rolling in off the ocean affecting mostly the northern state of delaware right now, new castle county delaware, parts of south jersey. there are thunderstorms over by the coast north of atlantic city. you're in a lull in cape may and ac. if you're in philadelphia this is on its way into the city during the morning rush hour. out in the northern western suburbs you probably won't see as much as this as it may stop short but a lot of the area looking wet this morning and voss you want to be careful that of thunder and lightning down by the shore. there's a counterclockwise flow around an area of low pressure that's on its way off the coast and eventually up the coast and this is bringing that band rain in. as were he go through the day it will stay cloudy and at times damp as more rain may at times try to pop in from the ocean and around that low. 57 degrees in philadelphia, getting ready for rain. rain falling in millville and in ac. 56, 55 degrees, 54 degrees in

wilmington right now and in allentown you're heading outside to dry conditions early and a temperature of 54. as we head outside to catch that school bus looks like we hover in the mid-50's this morning, cloudy skies with rain in places not everywhere all at once but where it's falling it's fairly significant. through the day periods of rain off and on, 55 degrees by 8 o'clock, 58 by noon and your high today is 59 degrees at 3 o'clock. karen rogers this rain is not going to be good for the roads once it hits. >> no, that's for sure. looking at i-95 at couldn't -- cottman construction expected to head out in a few minutes. right now seeing a little slowing coming down from academy road. speeds are in good shape. we have a problem in south philadelphia, a vehicle fire going on on swanson street at ritner street so watch for a vehicle fire cause something restrictions right now. let's go outside live and check on the ben franklin bridge. it's quiet. not too many panel up and out,

that's for sure. just a couple cars westbound headed into the city. we have the two right lanes blocked for construction but they are expected to be opened for the morning commute which would be a nice change and patco trains should be running with both tracks with the new schedule today, matt. >> okay, thank you karen. developing right now new video just in to the news room from the scene of a home invasion robbery in the logan section of philadelphia. it happened on the 1400 block of west somerville avenue around 3:00 a.m. police say two men, one armed with a gun, broke into the house and terrorized the people inside. it's not clear what, if anything, was taken and no one was physically hurt. also developing, fire ripped through five homes in philadelphia sending more than a dozen men, women and children into the night air and two people were injured. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live at the scene in the hunting park section with the details. katherine. >> reporter: matt, we have the latest now version from the red cross. 16 people were affected by this fire, five homes have

some sort of damage. you can see as we take a look. some of these homes have been completely gutted. you can see the debris out on the sidewalk in front. two men were taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation and we spoke to them as they returned to their home to see what was left. >> i don't have no roof. sinclair page and leroy irving are tenants in this building where the fire began. as soon as they were released from the hospital this morning they returned to their hunting park block to see what was left of their homes. it was just before 11:30 last night, they were in their seconds floor unit from the 3800 block of north park avenue. page smelled smoke and alerted the others. >> he said the house is on fire. i run downstairs and the whole front porch was orange. i tried to open the door and everything was orange. so, i bust out windows and i jumped out the windowism irving says someone helped catch him when he jump fred a second floor window. firefighters helped page. >> by the time i got there, the smoke was all over the

place. the smoke was all over the ladders. >> reporter: firefighters placed the fire under control in just under an hour. when they arrived the fire was already heavy and it had spread. >> because of the porch construction the fire extended to the right of the original fire dwelling involving four more other homes on the exterior as well as some damage in the interior. >> reporter: and back here live on the scene, you can see fire investigators on the porch of the home where the fire began. one of the men told me that when he looked outside, he saw a lot of fire on the porch. that seemed to be where it it ws coming from but the cause of the fire is under investigation. lie in hunting park katherine scott channel6 "action news." >> thanks so much katherine. new jersey state police released new surveillance video of two burglary suspects. you can see a man and a woman sneaking away from a parking lot in upper pittsgrove township there. they're accused of stealing power tools and wiring from

that location on october 11th and back on august 25th. anyone who recognizes the couple should contact detectives at woodstown station. >> happening today, schools will be back opened in the pocono mountain school district. they were closed yesterday because of the search for suspected cop killer eric frein. police had thought they found their man when they stopped james tullly on the road, one of several times. he can't afford a car so he walks 5 miles to and from work. he stays near frein's hometown of canadensis. tullly says police have mistaken him repeatedly for frein. the worst moment happened back on friday night on his walk home. >> driver jumps out yelling to get down on the ground, has his rifle pointed at my head. now, i'm doing my best to comply with him. he kept screaming at me. he wantd to know my name. >> that confrontation ended with tullly getting treated at the hospital for bruised ribs. he wears a yellow reflective vest now hoping that police realize that the suspected

killer would not be walking around wearing that. >> three american girls are back at home in denver after hopping on a plane to germany. federal investigators are trying to determine if they were en route to join isis terrorists. abcs tahman bradly has the latest developments from washington. >> the advice that i have for the sisters imsources tell abc news jihadist propaganda videos like these lured three american high school girls on a mission to join terrorists in syria. the girls ages 15, 16 and 17 are of sudanese and somali dissent. authorities are not identifying them because of their young age. >> it's very important that they come to this place here. >> reporter: the girls were allegedly seduced into flying to frankfurt germany with tickets that had them bound for turkey and syria. after the teens disappeared last weekend their families contacted the fbi and the girls were stopped by authorities in germany sent home. this morning the fbi is

>> when it rains out there -- >> yes. >> you're like this is a great day to have a bowl of soup. >> yes, it is, so, yeah, soup day. storm tracker 6 live double scan shows there's a band of rain coming out of the ocean and now pushing up through south jersey and delaware. we go in a little bit tighter, you see a bunch of thunderstorms over by the north jersey shore so if you're out surf city and north be careful of that as there is tons of lightning associated with that. expecting mainly just showers in and around philadelphia but you can see this is getting closer to the central portion

of the region. if i go ahead and start this up, here it comes over the last 15 minutes so it won't be much longer, maybe another five, ten minutes before philadelphia starts to see the beginning of this and whether or not it makes it all the way up into the northern western suburbs is a bit of a question and i think there could be a little bit of dampness in allentown and reading eventually later this morning but looks like the heaviest band is going to kind of poll through areas closer to 95 and shoot back down to the south. as we take a look outside we've got cloudy skies. obviously it is on the damp side across much of the region, although here in philadelphia and on the platt bridge, no the wet just yet. temperatures 57 degrees right now philadelphia. your dewpoint at 50. winds out of the north at 15 miles per hour. so, it is a little bit blustery out there. i could see gusts going into the 20's, maybe even up to about 30 at times, especially the closer you get toward the shore. future tracker 6 between now up until 8 o'clock this morning shows you how that band of rain is going to continue to creep up. as i said it may get a little bit wet up in places like allentown and reading at times this morning.

and then we get into 12 o'clock and you can see how the heaviest band of that is kind of falling apart and maybe shifting back down to the south. we still at noon will likely have some periods of rain and showers around at least parts of the region. getting later into the afternoon, 3, 4, 5 o'clock most of that heavy stuff looks like it wants to shift to the south so we may see some drying although i think most of the areas still going to be fairly cloudy and later tonight a couple of more showers spilling in around what is a coastal low that's formed down here is going to keep on dishing this stuff through but obviously the heaviest most widespread precip looks like it's going to be during the morning hours. here's where temperatures are going to go. 55 degrees by 8 o'clock. wet in spots. same thing at 11:00, 57 degrees. by 2 o'clock 58 degrees and parts of the region will still be seeing rain particularly south. 59 degrees is your high. we'll probably see that at around 3 o'clock and then very close to that at 5 o'clock. you can see the temperatures just kind of staying in place today in the 50's and it's cloudy and at times damp.

high temperatures up and down the pike, not a big range. 58 in allentown, 62 in cape may and atlantic city. that low pressure center is still going to be here tomorrow although it will be pushing farther to the north. looks like we'll get some a.m. showers. gusty blustery winds around the region but not as wet overall. future tracker 6 showing that you tomorrow morning up to 8 o'clock, a couple of sprinkles and showers around after about 12:30 or so it looks like it's drying out. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast we're going for a high of 59 today, cloudy and at times rainy. tomorrow morning rain giving way to afternoon drying and maybe some clearing, 57 is the high. after that it's all good. friday breezy and nice, 62. saturday mix of sun and a few clouds, 67 degrees and lots of sun on sunday, monday and probably tuesday as well. might even get up back into the low 70's by the middle of next week. >> thanks so much, david. well, a 16 year old girl from ohio died at a haunted house over the weekend. christian bunch had a preexisting medical condition

hadn't a heart attack at the theme park. her family says she collapsed in one of the attractions and died despite her mother's efforts to perform cpr. she was already known to have a pulmonary condition. she only had one lung and coroners found she had a irregular heart as well. >> president obama cast a ah and articlely ballot for the midterm elections in chicago and a nearby voter couldn't help but have a little fun with the commander-in-chief. >> embarrassing man just for no reason whatsoever. >> that was the president expressing mock annoyance after a man passed by him at the booth and said don't touch my girlfriend. the woman next to president obama immediately became embarrassed and apologized. the president joked about it and even game the woman, anna keep, a hug and a kiss directly disobeying. order. mike jones the man behind the joke said he simply took advantage of an opportunity to break the silence in the room.

>> ♪ >> time to check the traffic right now. in wynnefield we've got a problem. city avenue is closed at cardinal avenue right here because of a single vehicle accident that also brought because of a single vehicle one could be a problem for a little while. you can stick to merion road or montgomery avenue or belmont avenue to avoid the problem with city avenue, route 1 blocked at cardinal avenue with this accident coming in. some of the roads are wet already like here in exton, chester county. this is route 100 at commerce drive and you can see it's a quiet scene, not too many people out there. road a little shiny from the wet roads.

so in some of your western suburbs watch for that rain already pushing in. burlington bristol bridge closed for another half hour for this maintenance problem they have been doing each night. it the will reopen at 5:00 a.m., close again at 9 o'clock tonight. stick to the turnpike connector bridge instead. on the big picture, the accident on city avenue, also in south philadelphia i mentioned this earlier swanson street at ritner we've got a vehicle fire that's causing a problem there, erin. >> thanks so much, karen. new this morning, a threat against penn state has surfaced on the social media site for the second time in two weeks. the latest message targeted the berks county campus in spring township. on monday, a yik yak user threatened to blow up a building which is currently under construction. police did not find anything suspicious while searching the site. the culprit has not been caught. a student at penn state's main campus has been charged for the first security threat made in state college last week. >> the owner of chickie's and pete's is offering a $5,000 reward to help find two armed

robbers who terrorized employees at a location in delaware county. surveillance video shows the bandits entering the drexel hill restaurant on sunday morning. they ordered the manager and three employees into the freezer. one of the robbers was wearing a chickie's and pete's shirt. they got away with $16,000 and the manager's wedding rings and a purse. >> 4:54 now. all new in the next half hour of "action news" a group of people got stuck in an elevator in china. and they decided to take matters into their own hands to escape. we'll are you busy?
