picked up. >> how can you turn down these lovely people if they came to your door, david and karen. >> reporter: we're off to a chilly start this morning, holding a metal microphone i almost wish i had gloves on. looking at satellite, looks like we have a decent shot of sunshine, but there are clouds from the south and west, clouds increase as the day goes on. 41 in philadelphia. 40 in wilmington. 37 in trenton. allentown which was down to the freezing mark earlier and popped up a little bit is down to 29 degrees, very cold up to the north. 45 in sea isle city. as we step outside to camp the bus over the next couple of hours, it will stay chilly. temperatures in and around philadelphia on or about 40 between 7:00 and 8:00. not a lot of wind, but definitely chilly. the smart phone on the train station platform says

ashbourne road. eastbound traffic at 29, 422 building volume. no problems, things are getting busy, matt and tam. >> we're following breaking news, the capture of suspected cop killer eric frein. this is brand new video showing frein in an orange prison jump suit secured in handcuffs. you can hear people shouting at him, being hauled off to jail. we learned overnight about frein's next appointment that would be a court arrangement. which is set for 9:00 a.m. this morning. u.s. marshals took him into custody yesterday evening near a vacant airplane hanger car in monroe county 30 miles southwest of ballooning grove where frein is accused of killing one trooper and wounding another on september 12. "action news" reporter, chad perdelli is following the latest developments live from frein's

"good morning america," chad. >> >> reporter: good morning matt we're down the road from the where frein was captured last night. police are conducting a search warrant looking for more evidence. a blockade has been set up so people can't access the old airport. frein was in a field outside the hangar, he was clearly caught off guard, he was unarmed, but did have weapons nearby. state police say he was wary and tired from their unrelenting pursuit. state police said it was a quiet take down and ended the manhunt for fbi's most want the. >> the u.s. marshal service had a team outty abandoned airport. when they approached they saw an individual that they thought was eric frein and they ordered him

to surrender and get down on his knees and raise his hands, which is what he did. once they approached him he admitted his identity and was taken into custody. >> reporter: eric frein was placed in bryon dickson cruiser and handcuffed with the murdered trooper's cuffs. he shot and killed bryon dickson and injured alex douglas at the ballooning grove barracks. >> based on on the evidence mr. frein has murdered with murder in the first degree. attempted murder in the first degree. having weapons of mass destruction and discharging a firearm into a structure and reckless endangerment. >> reporter: his capture ends weeks of hunting for him always schools closed and left the

two people injured including a firefighter. katherine scott is live at south 62nd street. >> reporter: good morning, tam, the red cros has set -- the red cross has set up a shelter, 69 people have checked in. the road is open, firefighters have wrapped up, but several police vehicles remain at the scene. the building is taped off. firefighters blasted water at the apartment building overnight. 50 units evacuated on the 100 block of south 62nd street after a fire broke out at 11:45 p.m. >> within three minutes companies on location, they immediately struck the second alarm. we encounter heavy fire on the third floor. >> reporter: one man said the fire alarm goes off to frequently at first they didn't realize this was the real deal. >> we noticed that the fire

are not much of a factor this morning, but it is on the cool side. take a look at temperatures as we are at 41 degrees in philadelphia. allentown has dipped all the way to 29. we have several spots in the 30s. 36 in reading, 37 in trenton. 34 in millville and 44 in sea isle city. a very chilly start out there. i'll bring in that always on day planner for you. you'll see how it stays cool. we'll start out with sunshine there's cloud cover welling up from the south ahead of a coastal system. there's more out to the west. we'll get sandwiched by the cloud cover as we go through the day. i expect sunshine to give way to clouds quickly and we develop into a cloudy afternoon sky cover. allentown's high 57 him it will be chilly this afternoon after a cold start up there. 59 degrees in atlantic city, clouds increase there, as well during the day, also chilly obviously. philadelphia, increase in

>> welcome back breaking overnight, fire forced dozens of people out of their apartment building in west philadelphia. the building is on the 100 block of south 62nd street. a resident and a firefighter were treated at the hospital. 66 residents are set up in a red cross shelter. the other big story this morning, the capture of eric frein. the man suspected of killing one state trooper and wounding another is scheduled to be arraigned at 9:00. >> karen rogers has more on the accident. >> reporter: this is the accident in franklin township, gloucester county, involving four vehicles and dump truck carrying stand. we have struck traffic out there, they are allowing it

barracks in pike county there you go from monroe county to pike county. he made this journey down there. he is accused of killing bryon dickson and wounding trooper alex douglass on september 12. hundreds of law enforcement attended bryon dickson's funeral 6 days after his murder. he achieved corporal rank in 2013 when he was assigned to troop k. trooper douglass was hoppeddized for a month -- hospitalized for a month from his injuries. many held signs way to go psp to congratulate them on the arrival of frein in pike's county. it cost taxpayers $1 million a week. >> i'm sure it's worth it now that it's all over.

now to another story, fire forced dozens of people out of a west philadelphia apartment. let's he go live to katherine scott live at south 62nd street. >> reporter: one firefighter hurt one resident hurt, as well. both are in stable condition. meanwhile, 69 people have checked into a red cross shelter at a nearby high school. firefighters wrapped up a little while ago, several police vehicles remain on the 100 block of south 62nd street in west philadelphia. the fire broke out at 11:45. it's a four story building the chestnut park apartment. firefighters are met with heavy flames on the third floor, 75 firefighters responded with 22 pieces of apparatus. around 50 units were evacuated in the buildings. it took firefighters just over an hour and 20 minutes to place the fire under control. one man was asleep in a third floor apartment said the fire alalarm goes off to frequently

they didn't realize it was an actual fire. >> we noticed it kept going off and we didn't pay it no mind and then we heard people excavating the building. we went to the front door and smoke was everywhere, we had to go out a fire escape. >> reporter: firefighters have wrapped it up, but they had a long night battling this blaze. peco shut down power and ten additional properties were affected. anyone affected by the fire should check in to the high school. the cause of the fire is under investigation, live in west philadelphia, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> katherine thank you for that. we are expecting to hear from septa transit workers whether or not they plan to strike. union boss willie brown said he'll make a decision by the end of the day.

near the scene. there you see a flat bed tow truck involved. four vehicles, a dump truck and motorcycle, they have a lot of to clear out. you can use delsea drive running basically parallel. 47 is it a good alternate. 5 northbound jammed in this area because of the closure and creating a problem. 47 is a good alternate. falls township, bucks county this is another multi-vehicle accident, the accident scene is cleared, the investigation continues. 13 northbound is shut down between penn valley and tyburn road. southbound has reopened. northbound is expected to be closed for a while. you can get by southbound but not northbound. you have to use new falls road or old bristol pike. a quick look outside to show you what it looks like. this is the boulevard we had an accident southbound past fox street, the same spot we had an accident yesterday morning. it is cleared, but it's jammed
