>> good morning it is 6:00 a.m., saturday, november 1 here's some of the stories we're following on "action news." a late-night deal is announced to keep the septa drivers on the job. we'll have details of the tentative deal ahead. a woman is hit by a car near temple hospital, now the search is on for more clues. a soggy start to the weekend, will the rain dampen your plans. meteorologist chris sowers is outside with a look ahead with the accuweather forecast. looks rainy out there. >> reporter: it's miserable out here, the rain is blowing side

ways, i'm in a wrestle match with the umbrella because the wind is trying to take it out of my hand. we have heavier bands of moisture showing up one north and west of philadelphia. i'm going to lose this umbrella. another one just off the coast of atlantic city. so we're going to zoom into the one in the northwestern suburbs first. you can see all the yellows andd oranges doylestown and green lane as you head up the northeast extension, it will be a slow go as we see the pockets of rainfall. we get into new castle county and delaware. wilmington, same thing. lots of heavy rain. the last batch is pushing into atlantic city as i speak. we're picking up the organs and reds that's where it's pushing into sea isle city and avalon in the next half-hour. temperatures along with the rain, chilly allentown 45 degrees. philadelphia, 46. poconos 41.

millville, 47 and a pair of 50s for the boardwalk in atlantic city and sea isle city, as well. accuweather says find something indoors to do. damp and windy, high of 49 degrees. you factor in the winds it will feel like the upper 30s and low 40s throughout the day. it's not a nice start to the weekend, tomorrow looks better, but we'll have windchills in the 20s in parts of the area tomorrow morning. i'll show you the numbers in the complete accuweather seven-day forecast when i step back inside here in just a bit. >> an agreement for septa riders. annie mccormick has the details. >> we are pleased to announce that septa and twu has reached two year agreement.

>> reporter: septa and the president of the transit worker union shake on a agreement for the union employees operating buses trolleys and subways. >> it was difficult, but we got it done. >> reporter: a long day and night homicide the wind wyndham hotel, it's been a longer seven months for union workers without a contract and tense for riders waiting to hear about a strike. >> thank you to the riders and the union, it was worked through in a business-like manner. >> reporter: details are mum until union workers are briefed. both sides agree the deal is fair. earlier it was said that the union wanted a five year deal, brown touched on that. >> it gives us an opportunity, first of all we had too many issues to deal with right now. we didn't need to have a strike,

we couldn't resolve the issues, so it gives us the next two years to solidify our concerns. >> reporter: willie brown said next friday he'll present to this union workers whole have a vote. annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." >> breaking news, the action cam is live on the scene of a deadly accident on the roosevelt boulevard in the northeast. police say two people including an 80-year-old woman were hit by a carat 6:00. the 80-year-old woman was rushed to aerial hospital torresdale with no vital signs. the other person was pronounced at the scene. police say this car hit a woman overnight in front of the temple university hospital. the woman was rushed into temple in critical condition. broad street is closed between

tioga and vanango for the investigation. initially police were looking for evidence that a second car hit the woman and fled. now surveillance video shows only one car hit her. accused cop killer eric frein sits in a jail cell awaiting his next day in court which will be for a preliminary hearing on november 12. authorities say they found the alleged murder weapon in an abandoned airport hangar near where marshalls captured frein. his face is bruised. our david henry asked about the bruises. >> sometimes when we take people into custody we have to make -- take drastic measures especially when he killed a fellow officer. we weren't messing around. >> reporter: you meant business. >> we meant business. >> frein is in isolation accused of killing bryon dickson

and trooper alex douglass. two high schools raised money for the troopers. delaware valley and troopers from the state police accepted the check from the grudge match between the schools. maine nurse casey -- kasi hickcox is free to go where she wants. she must continue monitoring her health, but since she has no symptoms, she can go out in public. she also humbled by the decision and the support she received. nina pham who survived an ebola infection will get to reunite with her dog bentley. he has been quarantined for 21 days and tested negative for the

virus. those infected with ebola would be higher if it were not for a doctor in liberia who prevented it from spreading. >> reporter: meet the doctor who prevented the spread of ebola and paid with her life. >> she was courageous, but paid with her life, when she passed away from the disease. >> reporter: it was back in july that liberian diplomat patrick sawyer entered the country and fell al. a junior doctor misdiagnosed him with malaria. this doctor diagnosed him with ebola. he said he wanted to be

discharged. he failed to say he had been with his sister before she died from ebola and demanded to be released. >> the patient and the liberian government put him under tremendous pressure to discharge him. >> reporter: she refused isolating the patient and protecting her staff and herself. bloody tests confirm he had ebola and in a week he was dead. later the doctor and others died from the dreaded disease. >> the country was not ready for the outbreak, and she paid the price. >> reporter: she is seen by money as a national hero and a nonprofit trust fund has been established had her name to support healthcare in the liberia. doctors must fight the disease

flip it over to storm tracker 6 live double scan you can see the waves we had one west of the city one building closer to the coast getting ready to move into atlantic city. we'll zoom, there we go, we'll zoom into the areas north and west of philadelphia right now. you can see the across and oranges, from doylestown to pottstown, we're picking up ponding on the roadway. because the rain is coming down moderate to occasionally on the heavy side. we're seeing lower visibility. egg harbor is reporting moderate rain and lower bank in hammonton. we'll continue to see this all morning long. by afternoon a lot of this begin to taper off. over the next five, six, seven hours will be a slow goes as we see the pockets of heavier rains push inland over the water. poconos 41, millville, 47.

you factor in the winds it feels like the 30s. millville 30 miles per hour. dover, 28. wildwood, 26 and trenton, 21. and these winds will whip all day long. as that coastline system continues to intensify, wildwood, 41, philadelphia, 30, we'll see gusts anywhere from 30 to 35 miles per hour just about all day long. it will get windier as we head into sunday. 43 miles per hour in wildwood, atlantic city, 44. philadelphia, 36. it's all thanks to this coastline storm that's quickly -- coastal storm that's quickly developing that's picked you mean a secondary low that dropped down from the great lake states. we have an area of low pressure that's spinning off the coast of new england. for us, it means rain. but you get into new england and new hampshire vermont and rain

they are talking snow, several inches possible from the same system that's bringing us a lousy saturday around the delaware valley. here's 2:30, the wet weather across new jersey, not much going on at that point, north and west, the rain will slowly pull away as the afternoon wears on. for the lehigh valley, showers, cloudy and wind, 49 degrees, atlantic city and the shorepoints, miserable, cloudy and damp, periods of rain, 53 degrees the forecasted high. with the winds gusting 30 to 35 miles per hour it will feel like the low to mid 40s out there. we have a coastal flood advisory in effect through this afternoon from monmouth county to the delaware beaches. if you're parked in one of the areas move your car as the high tide comes up, it will be elevated a little bit as it feels the influence of the developing low pressure system. philadelphia, the normal is 62. 49 degrees. the winds will make the 49 feel

accuweather scaring up rainy conditions for this hour. chris sowers is outside in the showers with a look at what to expect. >> reporter: hey eva, i can't put the umbrella up, i have to put it sideways, because the wind is blowing 20 to 30 miles per hour we're seeing horizontal rain. we're picking up two bands of heavy moisture one north and west of the city. one across south jersey. let's zoom into the band north and west of the city first, you can see all the yellow running through bucks and montgomery county. phoenixville, moderate rain and norristown moderate rain. as we go into south jersey, periods of heavier rain. hammonton, heavier rain. absecon coming down good right there. heavy rains off the coast of atlantic city we're expecting that to push inland briefly here. it's a rather miserable start to your saturday. along with the heavier rains

was hit by a car in front. temple university hospital. first, police thought she was hit by two vehicles. after reviewing surveillance tape it was concluded this car was the only one that hit her. broad street is closed between tioga and vanango street for the investigation. philadelphia police are looking for a gunman who opened fire on a home while a family was asleep inside. bullets riddled the fronts door and windows on the first and second floor. three adults and a young girl were inside the home in the logan section. police think the shooter now on the run was armed with an ar-15 assault rifle. a man is fighting for his life after being shot in an attempted robbery. the trigger man wore a halloween mask. the shooting happened in philadelphia's frankford

section. investigators say the suspect had on a red halloween mask and hoodie. the victim reported to be in his 30s was rushed to einstein medical center. children in barrett township, monroe county were able to celebrate halloween after all. the poconos originally canceled trick or treating while eric frein was on the run. after his capture, halloween was back on. parents say after being worried going outside for seven weeks they enjoyed the night. this is eric frein moments after he was charged with murder yesterday. he made his first court appearance on charges of shooting two state troopers killing one. he was was captured thursday on a abandoned resort in tanersville. people yell at him asking if he

there's a slide show of the arrest and court appearance and a tribute to the slain trooper. a fourth student has died from the shooting in washington state. she was 14-years-old and passed away yesterday afternoon. two other students are in critical condition. authorities say it was at the hands of their friends and classmate jay learn fryburg who then killed himself. a u.s. marine i am prisoned in mexico is free and heading home. sergeant tam -- tamari sufficient e try to to take his life after being taken into custody. he maintained he made a wrong turn and not trying to import

trenton, 21. atlantic city, 26 miles per hour. here's the coastal storm that continues to develop. now fortunately this is pushing toward the northeast and it's moving at a good pace, bring a little bit of wet weather to the area today, by the time this thing gets going it's a problem for new england and not us down here in the delaware valley. a little bit of good news for us, they will see snow up here, it will accumulate. they will see 3 to 4 inches of the white stuff from the system. theywe'll see the rain and windt we'll miss out on the snow. we have an area of low pressure, and with the high pressure moving in that creates the wind tunnel effect. winds will howl out of the north overnight tonight. and pick up in intensity. tomorrow we'll see winds at 40 miles per hour in parts of the area. we'll see the sun, but it will be cooler with highs in the 40s. you factor in 40 to 45-mile an

hour gusts, it will feel like the 30s. almost winter like. the morning hours look damp. we get into the afternoon, cloudy, west of the city, dealing with on and off patchy rain south anne east, after 3:00, 4:00, most of the activity is gone. a dreary one today, accuweather as he is cloudy reign and -- accuweather says, cloudy, rainy and damp. we'll reach 49 degrees by 3:00 p.m. it's at that point the rain will shut off west to east, 6:00 p.m. it's cloudy and temperatures fall off. down to 46. overnight cloudy and winds, 34 degrees outlying suburbs, 48 center city. we get this cold, temperature-wise you factor in a 25 to 35-mile an hour winds we're talking windchills in the 20s and 30s for center city. don't forget to turn the clock
