>> reporter: all right, tam we're on the terrace it's soggy and cool. this is not the heaviest rain you'll see, but it's we had spread, steady and with leaves on the roads we have slick conditions and slow going everywhere. lancaster county and berks county and maybe parts of month co-are getting the steadiest rain right now. highlighted in darker shades of green. the rain has been buildings in the overnight hours and we're looking at a wet morning commute. the main batch won't be through until after the morning rush hour. 50 in wilmington, the best thing you can see about the conditions it's not all that windy. it's wet and cool, obviously. as we head out the door, rain gear is essential. rainy cloudy and cool and temperatures on or about 50 from the 7 to 8:00 period. we're looking at a high today of 60 degrees at 2:00 probably holding that until 3:00, or

rain is playing a part in that there. airport line was canceled, now service was resumed. with the wet roads watch out for accidents like this one involving an overturned tractor-trailer northbound past 73 on the new jersey turnpike blocking the two right lanes. >> of course we are starting with the breaking news, the story that has transfixed the delaware and lehigh valley that's the rescue of carlesha freeland-gaither. overnight the kidnapping victim was reunited with her family and released from a maryland hospital. let's get started with team coverage, walter perez has the latest on his part of the story. good morning. >> reporter: hi, tam, despite reports to the contrary, abc news has confirmed there was some sort of struggle when law enforcement is to responded to s parking lot in jessup maryland. it was a bad situation and the victim carlesha freeland-gaither was very distraught as you would

imagine. delvin barns is a 37-year-old man who is no stranger to law enforcement this video shows him back in 2005 after he served 8 years for aggravated assault. he was released from his recent prison term a year ago this month. according to the board of parol, he has 3 prison terms under his belt. his uncle sated his nephew has made bad choice insist life to say the -- choices in life to say the least. >> he has a thing about women, females. >> reporter: the case was involved last night thanks to these atf agents. they responded to a tip call matching this car. the agents surrounded the vehicle and took barns down while bringing carlesha freeland-gaither to safety.

her family is overjoyed. her cousin spoke to "action news" this morning outside the family home and said how relieved they were this investigation turned out how it did. last night you could see her parents come out of the maryland hospital after they reunited with their daughter for days they were pleading for her safe return. police say the 22 carlesha freeland-gaither had injuries but generally doing okay. her family stood with investigators to announce she was found safe after the violents abduction that was caught on surveillance cameras in germantown. detectives at the northwest division had been working for days on this, they collaborated with local authorities in maryland, as well as federal authorities. they released video from different angles and tips started coming in. her cousin said how grateful they were to the witness who saw

carlesha freeland-gaither getting pushed into the vehicle. without that phone call there was no telling what happened. >> i'm glued there are good -- i'm glad there are good people out there. there's good people out there. we can't express our deepest appreciation for them. without her what would have happened. how long would it have gone on? >> reporter: so carlesha freeland-gaither back home safe in philadelphia this morning and again, even though police say her physical injuries were minor there was a lot of psychological trauma to deal with. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> brand new at 6:00. nearly one dozen people are out of the their shoams because of a fire -- homes because of a fire in upper darby. crews had the flames under

control in a half-hour. the red cross is helping 11 people were pushed on to the street. >> it is almost 6:08. the bottom dollar grocery store chain is closing 46 stores in the philadelphia area. the parent company is selling the stores to aldi. that deal is expected to close in the first few months of 2015. bottom dollars expect to keep the stores open until the end of the year. after that they will be shut down and 2200 employees will be offered severance. emotions ran high during a public hearing over the future of a golf course in chester county. residents do not agree with the new zoning ordinance. the change will make way for the phoenixville athletic fields. they want the township to reconsider cutting down hundreds of trees and keep the area as

perez is in maryland where the girl was found. >> we have katherine scott in philadelphia where the family lives. >> reporter: carlesha freeland-gaither is back in philadelphia, she is here with her family in north philadelphia starting to recover from the terrifying ordeal. you can see overnight her parents emerged from the hospital after they were reunited with their daughter. that's where she was taken after she was discovered in maryland last evening. 22-year-old carlesha freeland-gaither was doing okay, she did have injuries not to mention all the psychological trauma involved in a case like this. her family stood with investigators to announce she was found safe in jessup maryland after the violent abduction that was caught or surveillance video at green in west germantown. video they released led to a

confirmed there was a struggle when law enforcement responded to this parking lot in jessup maryland. we were told it was a bad situation and it was getting worse and the victim was very distraught as you would imagine. the outcome was a positive one a culmination of outstanding police work. according to the pennsylvania board of parol, delvin barns served prison time for three separate crimes. this is video of him back in 2005 after he served the maximum for 8 years for aggravated assault. he was released from his recent prison term a year ago this month. his uncle said he has a background that's suburbing to say the least. >> -- disturbing to say the least. >> the viciousness of it, i'm not surprised. >> reporter: last night the conclusion of the case involving carlesha freeland-gaither came

to a conclusion after atf agents received a tip about this car. atf agent said the crew surrounded the vehicle and took barns down while bringing carlesha freeland-gaither to safety. >> the woman was relieved that law enforcement was on scene. once she had the time to process what had occurred you can tell she was emotion rally distraught. >> reporter: meantime, barns is being held on a slew of charges loading warrants out of virginia for attempted murder and abduction and rape and other charges, as well. abc news reports another victim from richmond virginia he abducted her and held her for two days and showed her photos of other women he allegedly abducted. that partly of the story coming up over the next -- that part of the story coming up over the next few days for sure.

we have a blanket of green across the region. not the most intense rain we've ever had, but it's been coming down for such a long period of time, all the roads are pretty wet. there are leaves on the roads and they can act like ice if you hit them too fast. so definitely a slow go this morning. we have wet conditions a lot of spray coming up on the cars. so the wipers are working overtime. 50 degrees right now in philadelphia. the winds out of the east/northeast light at 8 miles per hour. even a little bit of winds on this sort of morning makes it feel uncomfortable. 8-mile an hour in philadelphia. calm winds in allentown. notice how the winds are not that strong, but they are wrapping in from the ocean and pushing back to the west.
