augusta drive. >> a fire ripped through a boarding home in north philadelphia. one person is dead and several others who were facing hardships are back on the streets. katherine scott is live along the 3000 block of north 22nd street. katherine. >> reporter: matt, the fire commissioner will confirm that one man has died he has not been identified. 23 people have been displaced. fire crews remain on the scene. the fire marshal is on the scene, as well. the fire broke out before 3:00 a.m. on north 22nd street. the fire was in the alliance of youth mission ministry building. it's a 3 story boarding home. firefighters were met with heavy smoke conditions on the upper floors. it took 16 minutes to get the fire under control. the man who died was in the third floor front unit. officials say it appears he did

have disables. that's where the fire began. the bulk of the damage from the fire is in the unit where the fire started. the cause is under investigation. there's a possibility this is a fire caused by smoking. >> it appears to be smoking fire because of personal smoking. if little -- if that's the case we want to ask the people to smoke outside. it's the colder months winter months we want everybody to smoke outside because you'll have less chance of dieing in a fire. >> reporter: we're back in philadelphia where the investigation is underway. they are trying to find out if the alarm system was working in the buildings. one person confirmed dead in the fire. his name and age not released. >> breaking this morning, armed men carjacked and kidnapped and

robbed three men in philadelphia they are till still stout there. it started at 18th and rockland street in logan. three armed men got into the victim's car and forced the driver to go to the sunoco gas station in germantown. one of the kid nappers used the atm card to steal $600 from the account. they took out in a mercury grand prix with the pennsylvania tag, gyn a man accused of killing a woman off a germantown street is in a virginia jail. he was is and a dieded from maryland where he was found in the car the woman he abducted off the germantown street.
