traumatic ordeal unfolded. >> the police say a knock on the door stopped the attacks before it got any worse. "action news" reporter vernon odom live in darby tonight with the very latest. vernon? >> it was down right awful and had it not been for a neighbor stopping by unexpectedly, it could have been even worse for the 14-year-old girl. this is 18 year old hill charged with multiple crimes related to the attempted rape of a 14-year-old neighborhood girl. he surrendered to the darby police this morning. the incident occurred inside his home on 9th street wednesday afternoon. the police say he lured the girl inside, spent the siblings upstairs and took the girl into a first-floor bedroom. >> she was sexually assaulted. had it not been for a person coming and knacking on the door because they left something in the building, i don't know how much farther this would have went. >> police say a friend of hill's came to the house, knocked on

the door and eventually the victim ran out into his arms while hill fled, only to be surrendered by his parents today. >> he has a history of violence. we are extremely concerned about that. >> the victim's family says she is extremely traumatized and professional counseling is already underway. >> she is traumatized, you know. she is embarrassed. she's afraid of people finding out. and, you know, for her to not even -- yesterday she was hiding under her bed. >> i saw him crying, i had no sympathy. the tears are crocodile tears because he is in trouble. >> tonight hill is in the delaware county prison bail set at $50,000. live in darby, delaware county, vernon odom channel 6 "action news." >> all right vernon, thank you. one person was killed in a fire at a boarding house in north philadelphia overnight.

it happened just before 3:00 a.m. on north 22nd street. the fire was on the third floor. a 51-year-old man was killed here. residents say by the time they realized there was a fire, it was too late to get that man out. more than 20 other residents were evacuated. the cause of the fire not yet determined. president obama today authorized the military to send 1500 additional troops to iraq to fight isis. they will train and not be in combat. the president asking congress for $5 billion to fund the battle against the terror group. his request comes just after he met with leaders from both parties at the white house for the first time since republicans took control of the senate. they discussed putting aside their differences to avoid gridlock in washington. turning now to the accuweather forecast on a friday afternoon, we are dealing with strong winds all day today. the cooler temperatures are

six people pulled to safety after their boat went up in flames off the coast of the florida keys. they all jumped into the water to escape. fortunately, another boater saw it happened and was able to rescue everyone and bring them back to shore. investigators think a breach in the fuel tank caused that fire which lasted for hours, because more than 400 gallons of fuel had to burn itself out. veterans day coming up next week, but the tribute has already begun in chester county. today, high school marching bands, police officers, firefighters and classic cars entertained residents at the coatesville v.a. the phillie phanatic stopped by

"action news" reporter, john rawlins, live at the germantown sunoco with more on the crime and the victims here, john. >> we have new numbers this afternoon. first it was reported that hundreds of dollars were taken during that robbery. now we are told as of about an hour ago thousands were actually taken from the two victims ages 22 and 25. the carjacking ended at this germantown mini mart but began about a mile away near wayne junction. two men with a car confronted by three men, two of them with guns. >> they made the 22 year old, the owner of the vehicle, take his pants, his hooded sweatshirt and sneakers off. >>the other victim, a 25-year-old also disrobed. the pair forced into the back seat and driven to the mini mart but not before the kidnappers got the car owner's a.t.m. card and pin number. >> one of the perpetrators go into the sunoco and uses the machine and takes about $600 cash. >> the police this afternoon say the big money came from the 25 year old. $4,000 in cash.

a pair of armed robbers disrupt add peaceful day at a houston, texas nail salon. the men went from women-to-women demanding their purses at gunpoint. they ran into trouble when an employee fought back and fearlessly chased after the attacker. unfortunately the other suspect was behind her and shot her in the back outside of the business. she was air lifted to a hospital where she is still recovering in stable condition. a strip club that's up for sale in portland, oregon has what may be considered an unlikely group of buyers. parents. the moms and dads were pooling
