been killed an american horror story. tonight a chester county community came together to remember the boy who never had a chance. >> it is friday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is lit but filled -- a lit but mourn full demonstration for a 3-year-old boy. it was not just those gathered at the church in parksburg that burned candles for scotty tonight. thousands of people throughout the area paused at 7:00 tonight and shared their sorrow and their sympathy. "action news" reporter annie mccormick is live at the gateway church in parksburg, chester county. any, so much he motion there tonight in response to utterly horrific crime. >> reporter: jim, so many people were touched by that little boy. in fact this community suffered two tragedies this week. and they mourned both of those tragedies tonight. one for the little boy who police say was killed at the hands of the very people who were supposed to care for them

and also for a popular mother police say was killed in a murder-suicide. ♪ >> with candles in hand this chester county community wept, prayed, and sang and held their children close, remembering 3-year-old scotty mcmillan savagely tortured and killed allegedly at the hands of his mother and her boyfriend. >> he was beaut bull, beautiful boy. >> scotty's mother jillian tait and her boyfriend gary fillen baum were charged with first degree murder the district attorney saying he will ask for the death penalty. >> he was lashed with a metal rod and tied to a chair and beaten. he was tied upside down by his feet and beaten. his head was smashed through a wall. >> reporter: aat caused couple lived with tate's two children and her boyfriend. tracey naiingle worked with three adults at a nearby walmart

and she knew something was not rights in the home. >> he's a very angry, scary man. >> tonight's vigil not only mourned sdoty but 41-year-old jesinda miller shot by her boyfriend as she arrived for work monday. he then turned the gun on himself. >> to be part of a community of this i'm proud to be of it. >> pastor dean will provide over miller's funeral tomorrow telling mourners to pray for families of both tragedies and open to those maybe in harms way. >> i think many homes we disguise ourselves because we think we may have problems we all have problems when we need help we should seek it. >> reporter: and gary fellenbaum's mother speaking to associated press depending her son saying she's shocked by charges and said he always likes children. scotty's older brother we're told is in custody of family. jasinda's miller's viewing is

teacher who had been attacked by a student at bartram nice southwest philadelphia. this happened yesterday. the substitute suffered a concussion. the student has been suspended and is facing expulsion. bartram was plagued by violent incidents in march a student knocked a school staffer unconscious and new principal took over bartram in the fall trying to improve security. haddenfield police are asking for help identifying the suspects seen here vandalizing a school bus. they used skate boards to smack the side and danl the door. it happened 5:00 tuesday in the parking area near the department of public works. >> this was suspected kidnaper of carlesha freeland gamer his name delvin barnes delivered to the regional jail tonight in virginia he's on suicide watch having been officially charged with attempted murder, sexual assault and kidnapping. those charges stem from last
