>> good morning it is 5:30 saturday, november 8. here's some of the stories we're following on "action news." two police officers are injured following a chase and crash in the northeast. a tearful vigil is held for a little boy who died at the hands of his own mother. a cold start to the weekend, you'll need the coat and scarf before heading out this morning. meteorologist chris sowers joins us with the accuweather forecast.gist chris sowers joins i had a feeling this day was coming. >> reporter: you're going to need a hot cup of coffee or cocoa. coldest night in seven months.

let's go live to atlantic city, the temperatures have dropped off. it's 34 in philadelphia. one of the warmer locations. 31 in allentown. 27 in the poconos. lancaster, 30 degrees. dover, 32. millville. 31. there's not much of a breeze, but when you factor it in, it makes the air temperatures feel like the 20s. if you're going out wear a heavier coat. allentown feels like 25. 29 in the poconos. 26 in trenton. 27 in philadelphia. as we look at the satellite and the radar there's nothing going on in the immediate mid atlantic or the immediate delaware valley. you have to go out here 700 miles to the west get into the central great lake states to pick up any moisture. that's in the form of a cold front that will sneak through overnight.

it's weak and we won't see much moisture with it. 41 degrees by 9:00. lunchtime, 47 topping out at 50 degrees by 3:00. 6:00 p.m. we're down to 48. as we look ahead looks like a quiet weekend overral. we have cold shot coming later this week. i'll talk about that in the seven day. >> the action cam is live on the scene of a fire in maple shade burlington county. you can see that home is fully involved in flames. we have learned that the roof of the home has collapsed. firefighters are battling a blaze on the 600 block of styles avenue near the intersection of route 73. several neighboring fire departments have been called to contain the blaze. we see the report of one person being treated for minor injuries. route 73 is closed in both

directions between high and main streets due to the fire apparatus that you can see on the scene. south jersey motors has been in business for 30 years. the roof of the building just collapsed as the flames continue. we'll keep you updated on the situation as the information comes on air and online. other news we have new information on two philadelphia police officers who were injured in a chase that ended in a crash. it happened after 10:30 and blocked part boulevard at langdon street. police say the driver of a cadillac that caused the accident was spotted minutes before of selling marijuana on the 5100 block of frankford avenue. >> when officers attempted to pull the driver of the car selling the drugs, he took off at a high rate of speed striking the officers and dragging four

of them and jurying two of them. the -- injurying two of them. after this auto accident the male resisted arrest. he had to be tasered. >> the drug seller is discharged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest and other narcotics offenses. the driver of the honda is hospitalized with head injuries. one officer broke a hand when he was dragged, the other officer has an injured leg. the original buyer of the drugs was arrested near the frankford avenue scene. >> new overnight a man was hit by a car mayfair. the driver stopped. the victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment. police are trying to figure out how the accident happened. a vigil light vigil was held for little scott

mcmillan. thousands shared their sorrow and simple thee for the 3-year-old -- sympathy. >> reporter: this chester county community prayed and sang and held their children close remembering scottie mcmillan savagely killed at the hands of his mother. authorities charged his mother and boyfriend with first degree murder. the district attorney announcing he will seek the death penalty. >> he was lashed with a metal rod. he was tied to a chair and beaten. he was tide upside down by his feet and beaten. his head was smashed through a wall. >> reporter: the accused couple lived with tait's two children

student at bartram high school in south philadelphia. the student is suspended and facingxpulsion. kassim hill is facing charges after luring a 14-year-old girl into his home. his parents surrendered him to authorities yesterday, the victim's family said she is traumatized. >> yesterday we found her hiding under the bed. she had to be poked prodded, pictures taken of her, it was embarrassing and humiliating. she had to take medication to make sure she wasn't given anything by this perpetrator. >> i saw him in there crying, i'm looking at him, when my niece was screaming and crying

for him to stop for what he was doing to her, what was the sympathy for that. >> barns was officially charged yesterday with attempted murder, sexual assault an kidnapping. these charges stem from last month's abduction of a 16-year-old girl in richmond. authorities say he intended to rape and set the girl on fire, she managed to escape. barns was arrested in jessup maryland when federal officials rescued carlesha freeland-gaither. she is back in philadelphia with her family. eric holder sent a letter thanking the numerous agencies involved in the rescue of carlesha freeland-gaither. he recognize the local investigators saying it was

31 in allentown. reading 32. the freezing mark is 32 degrees. several locations are below freezing. poconos 27, sea isle city, 36. we are 15 degrees colder than this time yesterday. you factor in the winds feels like the 20s. we have cloud cover sneaking in from the north. places like the lehigh valley starting out with sunshine. we'll see high, thin clouds overspread the area this afternoon. for the immediate delaware valley we'll start out with sun and high, thin clouds as the day wears on. really the on him system out there, is this cold front right here, fortunately most of the moisture for the next 4r-8 hours will pass on by to the north. the cold front comes through and that will recent reenforce the cold air tomorrow.

arctic air temperatures are in the teens and below zero. that's a wicked shot of cold air, so early in the season greeting the united states, especially the high plains. we have high pressure in control. sunday here's the cold front all the moisture is pulling to the north, the front flies threw. the overall pattern looks like, a little bit of a dip in the jet stream over the mid atlantic and the great lakes. the seasonal average is 60. we are expecting highs 55 today. we start to warm up monday tuesday and wednesday only to see that arctic shot move in by late week. this will be cold enough to drop high temperatures down into the mid 40s. in the city, that is. and colder stuff north ant west. 49 degrees is the forecasted

they are missing out for screening for cervical cancer. the cdc said 8 million american women between 21 and 65 have not been screened in the past five years. more than half of the new cervical cases are women who have never been screened or rarely screened. women under 30 should be screened every 3 years, women 30 to 65 every five years. if you're uninsured their free screening services. botox and other treatments are not as risky as some might think. researchers evaluated 20,000 cosmetic procedures performed at clinic throughout the country. they found one in every 400 procedures led to a problem. the best way to protect yourself is to see a doctor who specializes in such treatments. the cdc said navel spray version of the flu vaccine did
