20s north and west. actually the pine barrens in south jersey developed into the 20s -- dropped into the 20s as well. looking live over the camden waterfront. we're at 41 degrees in philadelphia. coming off a morning low of 34. 39 in trenton. allentown, 38. they are freezing in the poconos. 32. reading, 39. lancaster 37 and millville up to 42. a big improvement there already. satellite and radar, a few high, thin clouds running the new york/pennsylvania state line. we have clear conditions across the mid atlantic. later this afternoon we'll see the high, thin cloud cover spread the skyline. all the moisture off the great lakes passes on by to the north. 41 degrees by lunch time, 47.

we're shooting for a high of 50 which will feel nice compared to what's on the table later next week. i'll have the details in the seven day when i come back in just a little bit. >> we have new information on the blaze that tore through a home and burling county business. several fire departments and a haz/mat team were called into help. the fire was placed under control at 7:47 this morning. officials say the older woman who lives in the home has been taken to the hospital. she is stable, but will be kept for observations. fire officials are looking for the cause of the fire. meanwhile, route 73 is closed in both directions between high street and main street. the search is on for the gunman who shot and wounded a temple university student at an overnight party. new this morning, we're learning that the gunman may have been

targeting other people students moment before opening fire. police say they are looking into the possibility that the gunman from the party is also responsible for robbing two female temple students of their cell phones a half-hour earlier. both crimes happened off campus. this is video from where the male student was shot in the hip. police say the shooting happened when three men were turned away from the party. one pulled out a gun and shot a student. that student is at the hospital. temple tweeted out a description of the gunman wearing a red sweatshirt and beanie and blue jeans. two police officers are recovering after being almost run over during the arrest of an alleged drug dealer. police say the driver that caused the accident was spotted

minutes before selling marijuana on the 5100 block of frankford avenue. >> when officers attempted to pull the driver of the car, the one who was selling the drugs from the cadillac esclade he took off at a high rate of speed dragging them, injuring two of them. >> with other officers in pursuit he allegedly ran a red light and t-boned a hole did -- honda on the boulevard. >> the male resisted arrest and he had to be tasered. >> that driver who police say was the drug seller faces several charges. the driver of the honda is hospitalized with head injuries. he is alert. one officer broke the hand when the suspect dragged officers on frankford avenue. the other officeer has an injured leg. the person who bought the drugs

was arrested near the scene. a wreck in newark, near capital drive landed a biker in the hospital. the biker and the three cars collided around 7:30. the investigation continues this morning. police are asking for your help to find a woman missing from a local group home. april parker vanished from the connelly house on ludlow street. she battles bipolar disorder a manic depression. she is often seen in the area of 12th and market. she is 5'5" and was last seen wearing a gray jacket and black pants. police in haddonfield township, camden county are asking for help identifying the suspects seen here vandalizing a school bus. they used skate boards to smack the side and damage the doors.

it happened in the parking area near the department of public works. sunoco is moving ahead with the mariner ii pipeline coming out of marcus hook, delaware county. the project will expand existing pipeline and move natural gas liquids from eastern ohio and western pennsylvania to marcus hook where it will be processed. it will be distributed here in the u.s. and across the world. >> it's means not only thousands of jobs for the construction of the pipeline, and hundreds of permanent jobs, it is $2.5 billion investment by sunoco. >> the number of permanent flanlt jobs will drop -- the number of permanent jobs will drop below 800. >> there might be a lot of product working here, there won't be a lot of people working here.

theft. tickets are $10 for seniors and kids. thousands of scouts will be going door to door to drop off empty plastic bags for the 6abc dunkin' donuts holiday food drive. the scouts will be back next saturday to collect the filled bags. members of a south jersey football team took to the field with a purpose beyond the final score. they were there to help a little boy named henry. dann cuellar has this story. >> reporter: meet henry north -- norton of pennsauken new jersey. he looks like a normal kid, but he has a rare syndrome, usher syndrome. henry has lost 90% of his vision since february 2013.

thanks to two cochlear implants he is able to hear. >> you can make the deaf hear should they choose to and we did. henry will rely on his hearing more and more, as his vision diminishes, he'll be able to hear. >> reporter: doctors tell the family there's no known cure for the genetic disorder. for the football team that wreaks and they wanted to do something to bring attention to usher syndrome and henry's plight. they had a tailgate party for him before the game. they were wearing red because it's easier for henry to see. team members have been wearing t-shirts to practice all week and now they wreak, too. >> the football game tonight that will be a blast.

poconos, 32, trenton, 39. millville 42. the 24 hour temperature change is impressive. we are 20 degrees colder than we were yesterday at this time two hours ago. temperatures are starting to improve. you can thank the sun for that. a frontal system to the west will charge east. we'll start out with sunshine and high, thin clouds overspread the area after 2:00. the skies won't turn threatening. all the moisture out here that will pass on by to the north. as we look across the country, there's not much going on. a couple of showers across the gulf coast states. everybody else is high and dry. temperatures are getting down in parts of the county. busy mark 28 degrees, omaha, 38 degrees, wichita 46 and dallas 55. there's a large temperature contrast a huge temperature change is about to occur. it will hit the high plains first. that rare mass which is right here will charge east.

>> the u.s. postal service has announced it will start shipping packages 7 days a week in anticipation of the holiday rush. seven-day delveries will start november 17 and end on christmas day. they are making the change because demand has grown in years because of the popularity of online shipping. they expect to ship 470 million this holiday season up from 420 last year. if you're expect to fly before thanksgiving. expect airlines to be crowded. they expect 12 million people to travel. that's up from last year.

happening now on "action news" saturday at 9:00 people across the delaware valley are remembering a little chester county boy who was tortured and killed this past week. new information on the man hit by a car on the roosevelt boulevard. a cancer survivor and her husband have a very special birth this past week. >> now we head outside to meteorologist chris sowers it's cold out there, right chris. >> reporter: it's not as cold as two hours ago. let's flip it over to the numbers. we had temperatures in the 20s

north and west. fleetwood 37, coatsville, 38. oxford 39678 saint david 39 and chester and center city 45. glassboro is 45. buena, 42. gandys beach, 42. hammonton, 41 degrees. this was the coldest morning that we had seen in seven months as the cold front had swept through. we had clear conditions overnight, calm winds and that allowed radiational cooling to takes place. that creates that huge drop-off in temperatures. as we look at the salt satellite and radar we have clear conditions, but you look to the left-hand side of the screen those clouds across virginia are starting to move. that will get in here later this afternoon. high, thin clouds, nothing threatening. we won't see the brilliant sunshine all day long. it will be chilly out here. the normal high is 60 degrees. we're shooting for a high of 50. it will be cooler north and west and one or two degrees milder.

scottie mcmillan. countless people shared their sorrow and simple thee for the -- sympathy for the little boy who was killed. annie mccormick was there. >> reporter: with candles in hand, this chester county community we we wept and prayedd held their children close remembering scottie mcmillan allegedly killed at the hands of his mother and boyfriend. authorities charged scotty's mother and her boyfriend with first degree murder. the district said they will seek the death penalty. >> he was lashed with a metal rod, he was tide to a chair and beaten. he was tide upside down by his feet and beaten. his head was smashed through a wall. >> reporter: the accused couple

scottie's little brother is in the custody of the family and miller's funeral is sunday and her two sons are in the custody of family, as well. >> delvin barns accused of kidnapping carlesha freeland-gaither is on suicide watch. he was charged with attempted murder, sexual assault and kidnapping. these charges stem from an abduction of 16-year-old girl in richmond. he intended to rape and set the girl on fire. she managed to escape. barns was arrested wednesday night in jessup maryland when federal authorities rescued carlesha freeland-gaither. she is back in philadelphia with her family. meanwhile, eric holder sent a letter thanking numerous agencies in the rescue of carlesha freeland-gaither. he recognized the local and

federal officials saying it was quote law enforcement work at its finest. happening today, president obama is expected to formally announce his chase for the next attorney general. mr. obama has reportedly chosen loretta lynch the current u.s. attorney for new york. she would replace eric holder. if confirmed she will be the first african-american woman to hold that post. >> any birth is special, but at one delaware county hospital the circumstance surrounding the birth of twins has everyone feeling good about the babies and their parents biological and organize. john rawlins has their story. >> reporter: we met this little guy, this rafe, and michael. >> i don't want to get their names wrong.

gloves on. that's the is true of the philadelphia center city skyline. we have crystal clear skies this morning. storm tracker 6 live double scan, obviously we have clear skies we don't have any moisture out there. it's a nice, quiet morning it's chilly. 41 degrees in philadelphia. dewpoint, 28. this was pretty much where a lot of viewing area saw temperatures dop down -- drop down to. we had temperatures in the 20s. winds out of the southwest at 6 miles per hour. pressure 30.08. millville, 42. lancaster, 37. all these numbers well below average for this time of the year. here's the saving grace. we had temperatures drop into the 20s and 30s, but a lot of windchills are the same as the actual air temperatures so we're not seeing too much of a wind out there, therefore it doesn't feel as similar are as it did last weekend when we had gusts up to 40 miles per hour.

satellite and radar, we have clear conditions across the delaware valley. high, thin clouds in the lehigh valley. this is the batch of cloud cover that will sneak in across the viewing area later this afternoon. the moisture is up across the great lakes. this passes by to the north. this comes in later this afternoon, harmlessly nothing will happen with that because there's no interaction with this system up here and this storm system to the south. both will pass on by to the east. that means quiet whether for us, not only for today, but most of the up coming week. we have a big polar front that pulls through wednesday evening. the surface maps looks like. there's the high, chilly conditions. we'll see an increase in high clouds later on. sunday, a weak front i don't cre viewing area. temperatures behind it are milder. all the moisture passes on by to the north. we'll start out with clouds and increase sun as the day goes on. the opposite of today. lehigh valley, sun to clouds,
