only four coaches who have defeated notre dame while coaching at two different schools. nick saban, dennis erickson, johnny major and jones wi. all four won championships in some point in their career. he's about to join with a win at tulsa and a win here today. and he talks about this game as a lead up to a possible national championship. our goal is the national championship. and if we want to win one this year, we have to win this game. and vault way up into the conversation in the college football playoff picture. >> chris: if they're not talking about a championship, they need to play somewhere else. that's the mind set you have to have. >> sean: here are the rankings. number nine. they jumped five spots last week to this week.

>> saturday night, i'm walter perez. a philadelphia police officer is injured during a collision that ended with his car erupting in flames. also, vandals loot and ransack a charter school taking valuable equipment including computers and leaving behind one giant mess. but the big story on "action news" is a student shot at a party near temple university earlier this morning at a home

in the 1500 block of north 17 just a few blocks from campus. "action news" reporter kenneth moton joins us live with the rest of the story. kenneth. walter, now i'm outside hahnemann university hospital where i it tell you tonight police say that shooting happened in front of an off campus building. parties are typical but gun point robberies are are not. i spoke with the victim over the phone. he said he's recovering and should be out of hahnemann here soon. an it tepted robbery ended with 19-year-old temple university student being shot a few problems away from campus on north 17 street. i'm shocked. i mean i feel like my bike was robed from me i thought it was the worst it would be on this block. everyone seems friendly. >> philadelphia and temple university police are on the scene in minutes after the 1 a.m. shooting. residents on the 1500 block say there was i party in off campus housing and victim and another male student were hanging out on the stoop when a man ran up and

said give me everything you got. when the robber lift lifted his shirt to show the silver hand gun the victim charged at him. the gunman was quicker he fired once striking the 19-year-old in the upper leg. freshman michael rope lived in the same building. >> i thought somebody fell on the table or there was a fights. and they're at it again you know? and then i -- it got quiet and the music stopped. >> the shooter was a 30 to 45-year-old black man thin, blue jeepz, red jacket and red beanie. an hour and a half before the shooting police say on the same block a group of men robbed two female temple students of cash and cell phones. investigators are working to figure out ft. two incident are related. we spotted extra temple security and residents keeping up their guards after the violent act. >> i'll have to very what ware shop during the daytime and if

i'm out at nighttime chill at home or go to work make plans to be out early and home early too. initially temple university said the gunman in that shooting came back to rob the student after the guys who were throwing the party refused to let him and friends in. it appears philadelphia police learned new information after talking with the victims. reporting live outside hahnemann university hospital in center city this evening, kenneth moton, "channel 6 action news," walter. >> thank you, kenneth. we're following a developing story a philadelphia police officer is recovering after a fiery hit-and-run crash that occurred a few hours ago. this happened a bit after 5:00, 28th and tasker right there in grays ferrych the officer collided with another vehicle and that's when the police cruiser caught firech the driver of the car then took off. the officer and the passenger of the other car apparently bailed out of the vehicle and were taken to the hospital of the university of pennsylvania for treatment. a long-standing business in burlington county was destroyed during an early morning fire

just before 4 a.m. when fire broke out south jersey mowers in mapleshade. the owner of the business lived in the rear of the building and was rushed to the hospital. it took firefighters three hours to get this under control. no word tonight how it started. >> a charter school in philadelphia is in middle of major cleanup efforts after three people ludeed and vandalized classrooms. those vandals were caught on camera and police are looking for your help finding them. school officials say what they did was not only criminal but disrespectful and down right disgusting. "action news" reporter annie mccormick has more. >> these three men caught on tape are responsible for the vandalism and theft of thousands of dollars of school sxliz at the expieria education community in olney. police think he may be a teeth airier. they believe it man who they got a close-up of could be in 20s or 30s. >> this is something no one ever

wants to see especially in a school. >> early saturday morning school maintenance workers discovered the mess including ripped apart rooms in the main office and classrooms and fundraising money stolen from candy sales. desktops left empty after thieves took off with 5 computers. they defecated and urinated on the floors of the school during their path of destruction. >> in one office they actually went through and literally destroyed some of the cabinetry and then just paper everywhere. >> thomas yarden is chief operating officer 689 experiak through 8 grade by language wall charter school and head start program. every day they field breakfast and lunch to 800 children one of the largest head start programs in the city and the kivrpen was vandalized and fooled stolen. damage estimated in the thousands. darden said he is not angry and is sad and wants the trio caught. >> we know what good education
