in atlantic city holding on to a little bit of cloud cover down there as the cold front is in the process of pushing through. the cold front is pacific in origin, so we'll see temperatures milder than yesterday. north and west, slatington, 42. tanersville, 42. all these locations were down in the 20s yesterday morning. cinnaminson, 45. glassboro, 45. gandys beach. 51. woodbine 48 anticipate avalon 51 degrees. satellite and radar, lots of clouds hugging the coastal plain we're starting to see breaks showing up to the west. we'll see a decent amount of sunshine later this afternoon. we'll start out with cloud cover and increase the sun by lunchtime or so. it will be chilly compared to seasonal averages, this is better than yesterday. yesterday we had a high of 50 degrees, today we'll go 56. look what's waiting in the

wings. later this week this is the air mass that's heading this way. we're seeing teens and single digits below zero. this will modify this air mass. it's not -- it's knocking on the door wednesday night. i'll have more in the seven day. >> an argument at a philadelphia nightclub led to a shootout in the park parking lot. a 28-year-old man an security guards were arguing when the man pulled out gun and fired. the guards fired back as the man drove off hitting him in the shoulder an hand. a bullet hit the car causing the car to breakdown on the ramp to i-95 north. he was taken to jefferson hospital in substantial condition. the action cam was on the scene of a nasty crash. the 23-year-old woman lost

control and ran off the road. the car slammed into a tree. the woman was trapped inside and had to be freed by firefighters. she was taken to einstein for treatment. a philadelphia police officer is alive thanks to the heroic efforts of a teenager who pulled the officer from his burning car. joseph chambers is a volunteer ffort from ridley -- firefighter from ridley township. he was visiting his sister when they heard a loud bang. they ran 0 outside and saw a patrol car that was on fire. >> i said can you get out, he said i can't feel my legs. his door was jammed shut. i said i have to get out the window. >> a few seconds after chambers and another man pulled the police officer out of the car the car burst into flames.

the officer is going to be okay. the chambers pulled a passenger out of pickup the driver ran offment police are searching for him. >> delaware police are looking for the gunman responsible for killing a woman overnight. it happened before midnight near the corner of 16th and rowan walk in tioga-nicetown. the woman was shot several times and pronounced at the scene. there are no motives or suspects in the shooting. in wilmington, delaware, two teenagers are hospitalized after being shot this weekend. it happened at 1:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon. the 2, 17-year-old boys were driven to wilmington hospital in stable condition. no word on what sparked the shooting. a temple university student fought back against his would be robber. >> reporter: the temple student

was shot, we're not releasing his name, but i can report he walked out of the hospital on crutches. he was not ready to talk on camera, but was in good spirits. "action news" was there as the 19-year-old temple university student was released from hahnemann university hospital nearly 24 hours after he was shot during an attempted robbery. >> cops dragged him out of the house and took off in a police car and shut down the street. >> reporter: saturday night came increased security and campus patrols. friday night, students were robbed and saturday night the shooting on north 17th street. >> i'm shocked, my bike was robbed, for me that was the worse ever on the block. >> reporter: the 19-year-old victim and another students were out on the stoop outside the party of student housing. a man came up and said give me

everything you got and lifted up his shirt to show him a silver handgun. the victim tackled him. the gunman was faster and shot him in the upper leg. >> my roommate heard gunfire and it got quiet and the music stopped. >> reporter: the shooter was described as 35 to 40-year-old man, 5'8" wearing a red beanie. two other students were robbed of money and cell phones. they are working to find if they are connected. >> i'm going to be very aware now. >> reporter: at first police thou it was someone who was angry about not being allowed into the house party, but police learned more about the shooting after speaking with the victim.

kenneth moten channel 6 "action news." >> a two-alarm fire damaged a home in delaware county on the unit block of east 23rd street in chester. it took firefighters an hour to get the blaze under control. you can see the charred remains of the roof in the window. the red cross is helping 18 people left homeless by the fire. the fire marshalls office is looking into what sparked the blaze. philadelphia police are looking for these men caught on camera stealing from and vandalizing a charter school in the olney section of the city. the men damaged and stole school supplies, rooms were ripped apart and computers and money were taken. the men relieved themselves on the floor of the school. >> it's something nobody wants to see especially in a school. >> more good news at the gas price. prices continue to fall and it appears the trend will continue.

the prices are down a nickel. the average per gallon is down to 3.02. in delaware, drivers are paying 2.87 and in new jersey, prices are 2.72. gas prices have been declining for 8 straight weeks that will continue as the cost of crude oil falls. nissan is recalling 352,000 vehicles with passenger air bags that can explode because of too much force. they are they are air bags made by the troubled takata corporation. also are nissan path finders from 2003 to 2004. the newly recalled vehicles were sold or registered in 12

with this. what we're concerned about is this right here, that's the polar front it will drop south first and move into the high plains and put their high temperatures in the teens and 20s and some areas could get into the single digits for the highs. that will charge east. fortunately there's no snow cover out here, but it will modify we're talking about 40s for the high in the delaware valley starting thursday. that's unseasonably cold weather. bismarck is seeing that polar front pull into the lower 48. chicago, 37 degrees. all that cold air will spill east. before that happens we start to moderate. we get a push of cold air that approach from the west. the winds ahead of it shift in a southerly direction. before it gets here we'll get into the 60s. today, cloud cover, sunshine later this afternoon. monday, the pacific high takes over. that means a lot of sunshine out there, and temperatures back into the 60s.

sunday, unseasonable warm then unseasonable cold. researchers are looking into a link between sleep and alzheimers disease. a study said the broken connection between the cells in the brain has an impact on sleep patterns which can impair cognitive function. >> sleep is important at anyone age. it's something that if somebody is diagnosed with early alzheimers they should be paying attention to this among many factors. >> researchers found that those who had poor sleep quality had more of a build up in the brain of protein. whether that build up is from arltz or lack of -- alzheimers or a lack of sleep is a mystery to researchers. doctors looked at the research exploring the link

korea were row leased overnight -- released overnight. >> we're in for a rollercoaster ride in temperatures in the week ahead. >> meteorologist chris sowers joins us outside with a look at your accuweather forecast. lay chris. >> reporter: good morning to you nydia. it's actually nice out here right now. we have a lot of sunshine starting to show up. there's not a breath of air, it's too quiet, too still, but that's good because it's allowed the temperature to moderate. yesterday we had numbers in the 20s and 30s. him big reason for that we had clear skies and calm winds and radiational cooling in other words the heat that was provided by the sun the day before was freely loud to escape back into space. we didn't have those conditions this morning, therefore temperatures were significantly milder anywhere from 5 to 15 degrees milder. 44 in allentown. 51 in millville.

46 in trenton and 51 in sea isle city. there's the 24 hour temperature change. it doesn't look as impressive as it did a couple of hours ago. but it's higher than yesterday. 9 degrees milder in millville and 6 in philadelphia and 7 in trenton. the satellite and radar showing a nice sizable storm developing off the coast. that area of low pressure is pushing toward the northeast. it won't affect the delaware valley. as a matter of fact we'll see sinking on the backside of that low. that means we're expecting more in the way of sunshine as the day wears on. are 54 by lunchtime, 56 by 3:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. back down to 50 degrees. even though temperatures are below average for this time of year. it should be a nice, enjoyable finish to the weekend. when i step back inside we'll talk about the cold changes on the way in the seven-day forecast. >> thank you. >> the big story this half hour is the surprise homecoming for the two americans held prisoner in north korea. him this is kenneth bae as he

people dead. the action cam was on chase street where 21-year-old man was gunned down at 6:40. the victim did not have any vital signs when the medics found him. the action cam was at an earlier shooting at front and broad streets. a gunman opened fire shooting two shots to the chest. no word on suspects or moves in either shooting. >> philadelphia police are investigating a late-night armed robbery of a pizza shop. "action news" was there on drexel road in overbrook park. a man carrying a gun came in the shop an demanded money from the register. the suspect ran off with the cash. we have new information on a deadly accident involving a pedestrian in bucks county this weekend. police say a 57-year-old woman was struck on street road in bensalem before 9:00 p.m.

the woman was killed instantly. the driver of the van that allegedly struck the woman did stop and is cooperating with police. in virginia one person is dead and another is hospitalized after they were hit by a train on on a tressel over a river. four to 6 people were up on the trestle that spans the james river. the freight train saw them but was unable to stop. 21-year-old man was killed and 21-year-old woman was injured. 43 students from a rural teachers college were last seen in september when they were arrested during a differentially. an investigation reveals the mayor of the town may have

doing. just to go back real quick. these are air temperatures, 47, 47, 46. windchills are showing 45, 47, 46. there's not much of a difference meaning we're not seeing much of a breeze out there. the satellite and radar showing clearing conditions across the western suburbs. holding on cloud cover toward the jersey shore. even there those locations places like sea isle, avalon, atlantic city, even down there you'll clear out this afternoon, as well. there's not much going other than the arctic front right here, that will take the headlines later this week as the temperatures plumb it on the backside of that front. that doesn't arrive here, won't affect our weather until wednesday night. from now until then it stays nice and quiet. you can clearly see the pattern starting to take shape. this is the jet stream starting to rise in the west it's like a sea saw when it goes up on one side of the county it goes down on the other. you can see the cold air
